Too Delicious!

Finally, Westboro Baptist Church found their match. Hackers known as Anonymous vowed to retaliate against the gay-hating, U.S. soldiers-funeral-protesting group. WBC is well-known for protesting in front of funerals of soldiers who died fighting the wars and AIDS victims. They made themselves visible using poster signs like “God Hates Fags!” and “USA=FAG NATION”. And these people call themselves Christians.

The group seems to re-appear on high-profile mass shootings and have even threatened to protest the funeral of the Aurora, CO shooting victims.

After Friday’s horrific shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School with 20 school children and six adults killed, WBC announced that they will picket their funerals. A relative of the group’s founder, Shirley Phelps-Roper announced on Twitter on Saturday that it’s time “to sing praise to God for the glory of his work in executing his judgment.” The members of the group supported the tweet with follow-up tweets saying “God sent the shooter.”

They were going to picket the vigil that was held on Sunday night, an event attended by President Barack Obama. Quickly, a petition was set up on to prevent the group from infiltrating the funerals of the victims.

The picket did not happen (according to news sources, but the hacktivist Anonymous felt that enough was enough. Anonymous created a video warning Westboro Baptist Church of things to come if they continue with their ways of hatred.

Watch the video below:

Anonymous warned WBC in the video:

We will not allow you to corrupt the minds of America with your seeds of hatred. We will not allow you to inspire aggression to the social factions which you deem inferior. We will render you obsolete. We will destroy you. We are coming.

Since then, the Twitter account of Shirley Phelps-Roper was hacked and posted a tweet creating a petition to urge the White House to recognize the group as a hate group. The petition has received over 186,000 signatures. On top of that, Anonymous claimed that they were successful in changing Shirley’s desktop background to gay porn.

I’m surely not a fan of hacking anything but Westboro Baptist Church deserved what they got. To do or say something insensitive at a time like this is unacceptable and cruel at best. What Anonymous did was too DELICIOUS to ignore.

I say to Anonymous – YOU ROCK!
