The images of Syrian women and children on TV being doused with water to provide relief to what has been presumed to be a chemical attack by its own government are very disturbing. We thought that the Holocaust is over. That it’s not and will not be allowed to happen again.
Today, the U.S. is contemplating attack against Syria while it is trying to confirm if the chemical attack was indeed the work of the current administration.
According to the Secretary of Defense, Chuck Hagel:
“I think the intelligence will conclude that it wasn’t the rebels who used it, and there’ll probably be pretty good intelligence to show is that the Syria government was responsible. But we’ll wait and determine what the facts and the intelligence bear out.”
I can pretty much say that if it is confirmed, and President Obama obtains the agreement of our allies, attack would be imminent. This is going to be a hard decision for the President and he has to be really careful with his decision. President Bush was largely criticized for going into Iraq with the intelligence saying they had weapons of mass destruction which was later proven to be false.
If the US is going to attack, we have to be absolutely and positively sure that the Syrian government was responsible for the chemical attack of its own people.
Why do we need to get involved? Because we will never let another Holocaust happen ever again.
