I just found out recently that a friend of mine got engaged on the day that DADT was repealed.  It was a moment that he will never forget.  Alright, it was done through a text message but it was still a marriage proposal.  I had no idea about this until a couple of weeks ago.  It was kept under wraps because even though they are engaged, not a lot of people can find out.  They want a simple, intimate wedding.

Of course, the question is – did he get a ring to go with the proposal?  I mean, an engagement is not an engagement without a ring right?  So, he goes to the bedroom and comes out with this gorgeous diamond ring on his finger.  A platinum base with lots of diamonds in it.  What is so touching about it was the fact that they are going to get married legally in the state of Delaware next month!   Better yet, his fiance may have purchased engagement rings by Tacori which would have made it more fabulous!  But, it’s alright.  I saw the glow in his face and I am okay with that.

I didn’t use to think about marriage.  It was something very distant in my mind.  Of course, I never thought that marriage would be legal for any of us in my lifetime but it has come to pass.  Granted, same-sex marriage is not legal in every state but a few states is a good start.  I never really believed in it in the beginning.  I always compared it with civil unions and wondered why so many gay people want marriage.  Then one day, I was told in one of my blogs that they are definitely not interchangeable.  It’s about basic human rights.  Rights that are denied of people who are united in a civil union.

Since then, I have campaigned for equality and human rights.  If you will notice, my blog has been a place where I vent out my frustration with governments and policies that violate human rights.  If you check a video I just posted about an anti-gay propaganda in Russia, you will be appalled.  Just search for it on Youtube – and you will see how backwards the country has become.  It’s like going back to the 1800s.  I can’t believe all the things I hear about Russia and its anti-gay laws these days.    As advanced other countries such as Australia, France, Mexico, Canada and many others have gone about equality, Russia is going back to the dark ages.

Anyway, I am so excited about this wedding and the wedding will take place in a couple of weeks.  Very small wedding with only a few close friends an family but it’s going to be held at one of the prestigious and historic hotels in Delaware.  The Hotel Du Pont.

So, if you are thinking of getting engaged soon and you’re thinking about shopping for diamond rings, give this store a look.   You may just find what you are looking for.
