Gov. Chris Christie tried to stop same-sex couples from marrying in New Jersey. He tried to give it all his power to ensure that gays cannot be treated equally in New Jersey. He failed.
The State Supreme Court has ruled and they denied Gov. Christie’s appeal to temporary hold allowing same-sex couples to marry in the state.
Mayor and Senator-Elect Cory Booker supports gay marriage and therefore, when it was announced that same-sex couples can marry in New Jersey starting today, he stated that he will perform same-sex marriages which he did.
This is why I believe we should vote Gov. Chris Christie out. He doesn’t deserve the support of gay men and women. He doesn’t believe that LGBTQ individuals deserve to be treated equally and fairly under the law if he opposes gay marriage.
All I can say today is, CONGRATULATIONS NEW JERSEY for becoming the 14th state in the nation to legalize same-sex marriage. We hope states continue to follow suit. Just imagine the revenue each state would get and business that it will create once gays start marrying in their state. In the last month, I had two friends who got married. I hope to see more!
According to CNN.com:
Same-sex marriage is now legal in 14 U.S states — California, Connecticut, Delaware, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Vermont and Washington — as well as the District of Columbia.
