Nelson Mandela, an advocate for human rights, died today Thursday, December 5, 2013 at the age of 95.
He was a great leader who helped end apartheid in South Africa, avoiding civil war.
One of the greatest leaders of our time, Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for nearly three decades to be released in 1991 at the age of 71-years old. Even at that time, he felt a new beginning as he wrote:
“As I finally walked through those gates … I felt even at the age of 71 that my life was beginning anew. My 10,000 days of imprisonment were at last over.”
He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1993.
Rest in peace Mr. Mandela. Rest in peace.
