Buon giorno Venezia!

Four years ago, I received a call from a friend asking me if I have any time off left for the year.  It was in September of of 2010.  I remember hearing his voice saying that there’s a unique offer on line for a cruise that will take us to 7 cities in Europe for $500.00 USD.  It was an off-chance event and we had to make a decision immediately.  It’s a 13-day cruise and it would have been my first cruise ever.  The cruise’s first stop?  Venice (Venezia), Italy.  From that point, it was a no-brainer.  We had to book the cruise even without permission from my boss if I could take the days off.  After which, we had to book our air fare tickets from Philadelphia to Venice.  The trip was all booked within 2 hours.

Venice has always been one of the cities I’ve wanted to visit.  Several years before it, I visited a few cities in Italy which included Rome, Milan, and Florence.  I loved all of them.  Visiting any of these places was only a dream to me at one point, and I remember watching Gabby Concepcion – Roxanne Abad Santos in the film “Miracle of Love” and watched them both riding the famous gondola and saying to myself, “One day, I will take the gondola ride.”

Since our visit to Venice at that time was for one day only, I barely had time to tour the place let alone take a gondola ride.  But this time,  I will be spending a week in Venice.  For some, it is a bit too long since there’s not much to see in Venice except the canals and shops I guess.  There may be a few churches I could visit.  Other than that, it’s done.  I have friends from Germany who will spend some time with me as soon as I arrive until my companions arrive from Chicago via Florence to meet me.  We will spend five days in Venice and off to Paris we go.

I will take photos and share it here.  Please bear with me.  I am seriously trying to take better photos.  I hope to have nicer photos to post this time around.

Until then!
