Vice President Jejomar Binay has probably underestimated the power of the media and the power of the people. Under investigation for money laundering, the Vice President will have a lot of explaining to do (and probably a lot of years in prison if found guilty) when allegedly, large amounts of money have been transferred from his accounts in US Dollars to Canadian banks between 2008 and 2014 by AMLC (Anti-Money Laundering Council). Hmmmm.
His accounts have now been frozen and guess what, I applaud the government for taking these steps. We’ve allowed government officials to get away with murder (literally) all these years. It’s time to lay down the line and say, enough is enough.
Our country is poised to be one of the greatest and powerful countries in Asia. We cannot let corrupt politicians to continue to rule our country. It’s time to take it back. We’ve made so much progress and if we let it die, it will be a terrible waste.
Let us not turn a blind eye. It’s time to be active. If you see or suspect something, report it. That’s the sign we see everyday here in the United States. Let’s apply it in the Philippines. If you know of someone who is getting paid by the government as a ghost employee, report it. There should be a way to anonymously report suspicious activities. It’s the duty of citizens to report them.
If you want to live a better life, secure your future, and live in the greatest country you have ever lived, take care of it and respect it. It’s all up to you!
As we go and prepare for the 2016 elections – please keep that in mind. It’s your country, it’s your future.
