Men’s Health magazine opens the year with a big splash as wakeboarding enthusiast Aga Muhlach shares the benefits of staying fit and living right. The former matinee idol talks about the motivation that drove him to succeed in losing 60 pounds: finding something to be passionate about. With that, he took the plunge by getting hooked on the activity that he loved the most—water sports.

Aga, a longtime jetski racer, discovered that passion in the form of wakeboarding. “Any water sport para sa akin is nice. The fact that you go out of town, you leave Manila, that’s the best. You’re out of this ciudad; out of all this chaos. It’s always a date para sa akin when we go out of town: me, my wife, and the kids.”

Before, Aga used to weigh 220 pounds because of his year-and-a-half vacation from showbiz work. His much-deserved rest from the business became a liability as he stopped working out and gained unwanted weight. The insecurities he felt affected his social life as he turned down invitation after invitation to dinner parties from friends and the like. To put it simply, he didn’t want to be seen.

Aga Muhlach celebrates Christmas without his mom

Aga, my heart goes out to you and your family.  I know how terrible it is to lose a loved one most especially during the holidays.  You’re right however, she is better where she is now.  We have to move on and let them go.  Merry Christmas Aga~!!

This is going to be the first Christmas for Aga Muhlach and his siblings without their mom, Anita Aquino.

During the press conference of “Ma-Aga ang Pasko ,” the award-winning actor was sad as he narrated how their family is coping with the death of their Mommy Anita .

He said, “It’s the first death in our family. Of course, we really miss our mom, that’s for sure. So this is gonna be the first Christmas that we’re not gonna be with her. We’ll just take it as it comes, we don’t know.”

It might have affected the actor so much that it took a while before he went out in public. However, Aga told the press that their family is moving on slowly with their lives.

“Everything’s okay naman. Everything will be okay. More than anything, masaya siya sigurado sa kinaroroonan niya ngayon. Tayo, nandito pa rin tayo sa mundong ito na may nanggugulo pa rin,” said Aga.

With what happened, Aga is certain that this year’s Christmas will be different. But their family does not want to dwell on the sadness that was brought by the situation. In fact, the actor sees the death of his mom in a different way.

“I think my mom’s mission is tapos na. Kumbaga nakita na niya ang mga anak niya may kanya-kanyang pamilya na, may mga anak na, so pwede na siyang mamahinga,” reiterated Aga.

Kahapon, December 6, ang hudyat ng pagsisimula ng taunang book-and-toy drive ng Jollibee, ang “Ma-Aga ang Pasko,” kasama ang pinakatampok nilang endorser na si Aga Muhlach sa CCP Complex, Roxas Boulevard, Pasay City.

Nasa ika-13 taon na ngayon ang nasabing proyekto at sa tinagal na nito, tila nais ni Aga na magkaroon pa ng mas seryosong pangangampanya para sa mas mabuting edukasyon sa bansa—ang pagpapatayo ng mga paaralan.

Para kay Aga, “Lagi kong sinasabi, hindi naman po talaga ito para sa akin kundi para sa mga kabataan.

“Right now, me and my wife are really thinking of… Matagal ko na ring pangarap ito, more than toys and books, we’re thinking really of parang… Wouldn’t it be nice if may mabalitaan kayo na, hopefully, makapag-partner kami with Jollibee na makapagpatayo ng eskuwelahan naman, di ba?”

Charlene Gonzalez graces November issue of “Marie Claire”

Viewers who have watched Charlene Gonzalez host ABC-5’s Eezy Dancing and ABS-CBN’s Keep On Dancing would probably think she’s been dancing all her life. But Charlene herself confesses in the November 2007 issue of Marie Claire, “When I first started, whatever I did, I didn’t know how to do it. For example, dancing—I didn’t know how to dance at all.” Through hard work and determination, she was able to improve her dancing skills, earning the title, “Dance Empress.” Charlene’s diligence extends to all her other endeavors, especially hosting ABS-CBN’s now defunct lifestyle show, At Home Ka Dito.

The show ended last August after being on the air for almost seven years. Charlene says, “We had a pretty long run. I wanted to take a break until the end of this year, then go back to work in 2008. As of now, I’m just relaxing. This is my first break from work, ever, and it’s nice.”

While Charlene takes a break, Aga’s career accelerates: Aside from his weekly sitcom That’s My Doc, there’s his upcoming movie with Anne Curtis, Waiting for Your Love. Aga’s latest project for the big screen, A Love Story, paired Aga with Angelica Panganiban and Maricel Soriano.

Charlene narrates that in preparation for Aga’s role as a man torn between his wife and his mistress, he took up a strict diet and physical regimen. He lost more than 60 lbs. On her husband’s fit physique, Charlene gushes, “I love it, I love it, I love it! He looks so great, di ba? I remember waking up one day and seeing him shirtless. ‘May abs ka na? Where did those come from?’”
