Ara Mina not yet ready to make peace with Aiko Melendez

Wounds heal they say, and Ara Mina is right. It does leave a scar. Whatever it is that causes any rift between two people can always be straightened out. But after three long years, I guess it wouldn’t matter anymore. I just don’t understand who did what to whom? Wasn’t Aiko the first wife of Jomari Yllana? So, why then would she be apologizing to Ara Mina? I’m confused.

Sa paglabas ng actress turned politician na si Aiko Melendez sa Showbiz Central noong March 9 ay nagpahiwatig siya ng pakikipag-ayos sa aktres na si Ara Mina. Si Ara ay nakarelasyon ng dating asawa ni Aiko na si Jomari Yllana. Nakarating ang balitang ito kay Ara bago siya pumunta ng Dubai last week. Pero tila hindi positibo ang pagtingin ni Ara dito.

“E, bakit ngayon lang? Dapat noon pa. Three years ago na ‘yan na dapat nangyari. Siguro it’s not the right time,” pahayag ni Ara sa PEP.

Palabas na ngayon ang Anak ng Kumander, na pinagbibidahan nina Manny Pacquiao at Ara Mina. Pero hanggang ngayon ay hindi pa rin nakakausap ni Ara ang asawa ni Manny na si Jinky Pacquiao para magkapaliwanagan tungkol sa kontrobersiyang kinasangkutan nilang dalawa last year.

Sa panayam  kay Ara ay sinabi niyang umaasa siyang sa taong 2008 ay makakausap na niya ang asawa ng kanyang leading man sa Anak ng Kumander para magkapaliwanagan sila.

Pakiramdam ng sexy actress ay hindi pa handang makiharap sa kanya si Jinky. Kung hihingi naman daw siya ng tulong kay Manny para maging tulay ng pagbabati nila ng asawa ng huli, natitiyak niyang hindi agad-agad itong mapagbigyan ng boksingero dahil alam ni Ara na sobrang abala ito sa ibang bagay.

Malihim ang aktres tungkol sa mga pribadong bagay, pero inamin niyang nakakatanggap din siya ng mga text messages na hindi maganda ang nilalaman. Pero hindi raw siya agad naniniwala na galing sa asawa ng boksingero ang mga ito.

“Aaminin ko may nagte-text sa akin, pero dinededma ko kasi baka mamaya naman, hindi talaga si Jinky ang nagpapadala at may gumagamit lang sa pangalan niya,” sabi ni Ara.

CRISTINE & WILLIE. Samantala, lately ay nali-link ang nakababatang kapatid ni Ara na si Cristine Reyes kay Willie Revillame. May balita pa ngang nakita sina Willie Revillame at Cristine Reyes sa Guam nang magkaroon ng show doon ang Wowowee at nakitang magkahawak-kamay ang dalawa habang namimili sila sa Duty Free.

“Si Willie naman, kahit in front of me ay hinu-holding hands niya si Cristine. Wala naman ‘yon sa akin dahil marami namang klase ng holding hands,” paliwanag ni Ara.

Nilinaw rin ni Ara na hindi siya naniniwala na may namamagitan ngayon sa kanyang kapatid at sa host ng Wowowee. Alam niyang may crush si Willie sa kanyang kapatid at alam din niyang sobrang nawiwili si Cristine sa komedyante dahil palagi siyang pinapatawa nito.

“Pagdating kasi sa lovelife ng kapatid ko, ayokong makialam diyan,” sabi ni Ara. “Si Willie naman, parang barkada lang na niyayakap nga kaming magkapatid, e. Close kami. Kumbaga, parang itinuturing ko na ‘yan na kapatid. At least may kuya na ako, di ba?”

Ara Mina looks back on her “bumpy rides” in 2007

The year 2007 was quite controversial for most of our local celebrities and Ara Mina is definitely no exception. In an interview with The Buzz last December 30, the sexy star spoke on the pesky rumors surrounding her and how she had dealt with these. When asked if year 2007 was nice to her, Ara replied: “Ah, mabait naman. Siyempre, meron ding mga bumpers. Lubak-lubak pero meron din patag.”

MOM TO THE RESCUE. Last September, gossips started to circulate about Ara’s alleged relationship with boxing champ Manny Pacquiao, who is her leading man in the movie Anak ng Kumander. At first, Ara ignored the rumor thinking that it would die a natural death. However, the rumor escalated to the point that it gave birth to new ones, like Ara getting herself a home courtesy of Manny.

Ara’s mom, Frances Klenk, came to her rescue by airing her sentiments on The Buzz last October 7. Ms. Klenk asked Manny to help her defend her daughter against the rumors: “Alam kong wala kang relasyon sa anak ko. Sana naman pagdating mo, ipagtanggol mo ang anak ko kasi sirang-sira siya sa tao.”

Ara Mina stops taping “Bubble Gang” when she appears in “Prinsesa ng Banyera”

Is it really goodbye for Ara Mina in GMA Network? As far as PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) knows, humingi lang si Ara ng permission sa GMA-7 na mag-guest host sa noontime show ng ABS-CBN na Wowowee. Pinayagan naman siya dahil paminsan-minsan lang naman daw ‘yon at ang contract naman niya sa GMA-7 ay para sa Bubble Gang lang.Pero hindi inilihim ni Ara ang ilang beses na niyang pagrereklamo na kahit loyal siya sa Kapuso Network ay hindi siya binibigyan ng ibang shows. Ang huli pa niyang ginawa this year ay ang Lupin ni Richard Gutierrez.

In-offer kay Ara ang role bilang mother ni JC de Vera sa bagong primetime soap ng GMA-7 na Babangon Ako’t Dudurugin Kita, pero tinanggihan ito ni Ara. Hindi pa raw kapani-paniwala na may anak na siyang kasing-edad ni JC.

Sa Guam nga raw nabuo ang friendship nina Cristine at Willie ngunit pinabulaanan ito ng leading lady ni Manny Pacquiao sa Anak ng Kumander. Ang paliwanag niya, “Lagi nga kaming magkatabi ni Cristine. Para kaming kambal-tuko nung nasa Guam kami.”

Kakauwi lang ng sexy actress na si Ara Mina from Guam kung saan nag-show siya roon kasama ni Willie Revillame. Pagdating niya ay hinarap na niya agad ang mga intriga na kinasasangkutan niya habang wala siya sa bansa.

Separate lives: 2007 showbiz breakups

May Day: Yilmaz Bektas & Ruffa Gutierrez

On May 8, many were surprised that Ruffa Gutierrez and her Turkish husband Yilmaz Bektas decided to end their four-year marriage. It was in Ricky Lo’s column in the Philippine Star that Ruffa first revealed their decision, citing “cultural differences” as the cause of their separation.

The couple met in France in 2000. She was covering the Cannes film fest. He was looking for a boat to buy. Three years later they were married twice: March 2003 in Manila and September in a Muslim ceremony in Istanbul.

“We had a Christian ceremony in the Philippines, and then we had our Muslim wedding in Acarkent. It was the imam that officiated. It was basically a blessing. It wasn’t like a wedding for show. It was a blessing for us to be together,” Ruffa recalled.

The next three years in Istanbul was a life blessed with two children, Lorin and Venice.

Ruffa returned to the country at the start of the year to host Philippine’s Next Top Model. She narrated to PEP, “Ang dami kong tinanggihan na trabaho. But see, I’m living in Istanbul na nga but offers are coming. Sino pa ba ang hindi makakatanggi sa ganoon? Blessings na ang lumalapit sa ‘yo, so Yilmaz said he will allow me to work for five years.”

Then came the announcement. A feud erupted between the couple. Brickbats and harsh words were thrown at each other. Family members got hurt by in the exchange of accusations.

Weeks later the issue would tone down to give way for a possible reconciliation. Yilmaz suddenly arrived in Manila last August. The couple finally got together to quietly settle their differences.

But they still live oceans apart.

Court battle: Martin Jickain & Aiko Melendez

“Suko na ako.”

These were the words that Aiko Melendez uttered to her close friends as she left her more than one year marriage with Martin Jickain. Aiko Melendez’s publicist Ogie Diaz confirmed Aiko’s decision in his morning radio talk show last September 13. Aiko cited Martin’s alleged womanizing and partying habits as her reason for wanting to file an annulment.

Martin, on the other hand, belied those claims. “Hindi po totoong may bisyo ako. Hindi ako nagsusugal, hindi nambababae. Ni sigarilyo nga po ay hindi ako marunong. Droga? Hindi rin po, dahil may ini-endorse ako kaya hindi puwede.” In a later interview, the commercial model accused his wife of habitual gambling.

Flashback. They met in September 2005. In October of 2005, Aiko refuted reports saying that Martin was just “an ardent suitor.” By November, the couple announced that they were getting married on February 2006. Aiko was previously married to Jomari Yllana and they have 7-year-old son. Martin is a ramp model and was 2005 Mossimo Bikini Summit 1^st runner-up.

Martin said he was certain from the beginning of his relationship with Aiko that they would end up marrying. “I just knew. It’s destiny. There’s magic between us,” he said.

The two are currently locked in a court battle on their annulment and over the custody of their one-year-old daughter Marthena.

Long distance: Richard Gutierrez & Georgina Wilson

The couple are two of the most beautiful faces in the world of showbiz. Richard is the lead star of various fantaseryes on GMA-7 like Captain Barbell, Mulawin, Lupin, and now, Kamandag. Georgina is the niece of 1969 Miss Universe Gloria Diaz and a much sought-after model.

In an interview with PEP November of last year, Richard was happy with the way the relationship was going with the model. Asked about the secret to maintaining their relationship, Richard said, “Wala. We’re just compatible and we understand each other.”

Sweethearts for almost two years when both decided to go their separate ways in September. Georgina is busy studying in Australia while Richard leads a hectic pace shooting for his numerous tv shows and upcoming movies. Distance and time is the cause for their breakup.

Annabelle Rama wishes that her son and Georgina would eventually get together again in the future. But she also understands their situation:
“Ang relasyon naman kasi nila long distance. E, ang hirap naman ng long distance, di ba? Nagtatawagan sila. Minsan uwi siya [Georgina] after three months, after four months…mahirap naman talaga ‘yon, di ba? Kaya naiintindihan ko rin yung reason ni Richard, pero sana nga magkabalikan sila ni Georgina kasi gusto ko talaga si Georgina para sa kanya.”

Failed trial: Dennis Padilla & Marjorie Barretto

After ten years of being together, Dennis and Marjorie made the decision to go on their separate ways. Their union had been having problems since last year. The couple decided to wait until after the elections this summer before announcing their decision.

They made their revelation to Ricky Lo in his column last May 25. It was called “trial separation”. In that column Marjorie was asking for space from Dennis. Dennis, in a separate interview, blames his ‘bad temper’ for their breakup.

Ara Mina admits considering ABS-CBN’s offer, but will not leave GMA-7

Isang malaking desisyon umano ang gagawin ng aktres na si Ara Mina sa 2008 para sa kanyang career. May kinalaman ito sa napipintong paglipat niya sa ABS-CBN. Nakapag-guest na siya sa ilang shows at makakasama pa siya ni Willie Revillame sa special edition ng Wowowee sa U.S. this December. Nakapanayam si Ara sa Christmas party ng Bubble Gang noong December 10, sa Filmex Studio sa Makati City.

“Hindi talaga paglipat,” paglilinaw ni Ara. “Wala akong exclusive contract sa GMA-7 kaya nakakapag-guest ako sa ABS-CBN. Hindi rin ako pipirma if ever ng exclusive contract sa ABS-CBN, pero mayroon talaga silang offer na kinu-consider ko.”

Masaya raw si Ara sa offer na ito. Nabanggit nga namin sa kanyang kalat na kalat nang siya ang papalit kay Angelika dela Cruz sa Prinsesa ng Banyera sa paglipat naman ng huli sa GMA-7.

“Nakatutuwa, ‘no?” sabi ni Ara. “May lumipat sa Siete, may papasok sa Dos. Ganoon lang siguro ‘yan. Kung saan ka mas okay, e, di doon ka. Ang kaibahan ko lang, okay sa GMA-7 ang decision kong ito, pero hindi ko rin iiwan ang Siete, lalo na ang Bubble Gang. Puwede naman. Hindi lang pupuwedeng dalawang nagkakatapat na programa, e, nandodoon ako.

Ara Mina gives Dennis Trillo the cold treatment

Masaya si Ara Mina para sa kapatid na si Cristine Reyes pagkatapos malampasan nito ang kontrobersya sa pagitan nila ni Carlene Aguilar. Unti-unti na rin daw nabibigyan ng pansin ang kanyang nakababatang kapatid at nakikilala ang kakayahan bilang artista.

Cristine Reyes files slander case versus Carlene Aguilar

Oh no.  I hope we’re not turning to a lawsuit-trigger-happy generation.  Most recent lawsuit by Sam Milby against Lolit Solis and now this?  Wow.  I didn’t even think that the justice system in the Philippines is worthy of any of these due to bribes and stuff but things may have changed.  Has it?

Nagsampa na ng kaso ang young actress na si Cristine Reyes laban sa dating beauty queen na si Carlene Aguilar ngayong hapon, November 13, sa harap ni Quezon City Assistant Prosecutor Wilfredo Andres.

Pumirma at sumumpa sa kasong grave slander and oral defamation si Cristine, bunga ng diumano’y panunugod ng dating kasintahan ng aktor na si Dennis Trillo.

Ayon sa abogado ni Cristine na si Atty. Dexter Lacuana, “Concerning an apparent confrontation that happened, that transpired, where certain words were uttered against the honor of my client. So that is why we have decided to take this thing to the proper authorities.” [sic]

Una nang naibalita sa PEP, nagkaroon ng kumprontasyon sa pagitan ni Cristine at Carlene noong November 7 sa taping ng All Star K.

Ayon naman sa pagdetalye ni Cristine, sinabi niyang masama ang tingin ni Carlene sa kanya at saka siya nilapitan. Hinablot daw ng huli ang braso ni Cristine, pilit nakipagkamay at saka hinawakan ng mahigpit at masakit ang kamay niya. Nang pinalalabas na ng staff ng show si Carlene, ininsulto daw niya si Cristine at isinigaw sa buong kuwarto kung ano raw ang habol sa kanya ni Dennis.

Dagdag pa ng young actress, nagpapadala rin daw ng masasakit na text message kay Cristine bago pa mangyari ang insidente ng panunugod.

Tumangging magsalita si Cristine sa harap ng camera dahil baka maging masyado siyang emosyonal. Tanging ang ate niya na si Ara Mina ang nagbigay ng pahayag ukol sa pagsasampa ng kaso. Aniya, “Hindi naming iniisip na darating kami sa point na ganito pero siyempre parang pagkatao mo na yung ano, di ba, naapakan. Kailangan nang lumaban.”

Bagama’t iwas siyang magsalita, nagbigay pa rin ng pasasalamat si Cristine sa suportang ipinakita ng kanyang Ate sa gitna ng kontrobersiya. Pahayag niya, “Alam ni Ate kung gaano kahina ang loob ko sa mga ganyang bagay so ngayon pa lang nandiyan na siya.”

Sa huli, muling ipinaliwanag ni Cristine ang kanyang pananahimik. Para sa kanya, “Wala na akong dapat sabihin pa, nasabi na lahat ni attorney, so mabuting quiet na lang. Masakit pa kasi.”

Filipino prize fighter Manny Pacquiao once again donned his showbiz persona as his movie, Anak ng Kumander, resumed shooting. The crew of GMA-7’s StarTalk reportedly visited the set last Sunday, November 11.

In his column that appeared today in Abante Tonite, Abu Tilamzik spills the details regarding the much-awaited meeting between Manny and his co-star Ara Mina. Over the past months, the two have been favorite tabloid subjects due to reports that they’re allegedly carrying an affair. Unfortunately, the rumor gave birth to other damaging issues, like Manny purportedly presenting Ara a new house, along with a luxury vehicle, as gift.

Ara has denied the issue incessantly while expressing disappointment at Manny for failing to comment on the issue.

The strain, according to Tilamzik, was still evident during the shoot last Saturday, November 10, prompting director Kaka Balagtas to personally coax the two stars to settle their differences for the sake of the movie.

Defending himself and his actions, Manny said, “Naka-concentrate ako nun sa laban ko. Pagbalik ko rito, ang dami ko nang ginawa at hinarap. Hindi ko sinagot nun dahil hindi naman talaga totoo.”

Manny, of course, was then busy preparing for a boxing rematch against Mexican slugger Marco Antonio Barrera and was consumed by his training. Manny won the bout via unanimous decision last October 7 at the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The man dubbed as the “Pambansang Kamao” also downplayed the rumor that he personally sought to pull Ara out of the project to quell the malicious rumor.

“Para tayong loveteam na iniintriga!” Ara reportedly snickered to Manny.

“Ang dami ko nang nagawang pelikula at naiintriga sa mga leading man ko, ito yung pinakagrabe,” lamented the sexy actress.

IN DEFENSE OF CRISTINE. Speaking in behalf of her sister, Cristine Reyes, Ara said that she was more affected by the confrontation issue that transpired between Cristine and ex-beauty queen Carlene Aguilar, allegedly over young heartthrob Dennis Trillo.

“Mas ako pa nga ang nag-react nang husto. Kahit si Cristine, parang wala lang sa kanya,” confided Ara before voicing out her sister’s request, “Huwag na lang daw patulan at pansinin.”

Ara revealed that Dennis send a text message and even called her personally to say sorry for Carlene’s actions. Cristine, however, failed to answer directly if she accepted Dennis’s apology.

Ara and Cristine would still push through with their plan to produce a movie, although they will not tap the services of Dennis anymore because, according to Ara, of work-schedule conflict.

Paolo Paraiso reportedly will take Dennis’s slot.

Polo Ravales clarifies rumored rifts with Ara Mina and Mark Bautista

Mark Bautista and Polo Ravales in a rift?  Come on, if they are not close friends to begin with - how could there be a rift?  I must admit though that Polo Ravales is hot and I’m sure, he receives a lot of offers from different productions.  I just hope that he remains grounded and stays as cool as he is today.

With attached wires and a lie detector machine checking his nerves, Polo Ravales revealed how his eventual breakup with ex-girlfriend Ara Mina transpired.

“Nag-start siya sa cool-off, e. Hindi na namin naayos,” Polo confided to Showbiz Central host John “Sweet” Lapus, yesterday, October 28.

Despite the fact that the relationship had long been over, both Polo and Ara are consistently bugged with questions regarding the past. Talks of resentment intensified when reports said that the former lovers were avoiding each other during social functions. Ara’s open display of irritability about the issue added fuel to the fire.

Polo opts to be diplomatic every time the entertainment press asks him about Ara and their failed romance. The only reason that really stood out was lack of time because of their conflicting work schedules.

“I have nothing against her,” answered the young actor for the nth time, “and wala naman akong reason para umiwas.”

To prove his point, Polo shared that he and Ara cordially greeted each other last September 16, at the Rampa for a Cause event held in Rockwell Tent.

“Nag-beso kami nung Ramp[a] for a Cause ni Ms. Annabelle Rama. Nilapitan ko siya, nag-kiss ako sa kanya, ganun,” said Polo.

SNUBBING MARK BAUTISTA? Polo has been suspected of ignoring young singer Mark Bautista every time their paths cross.

Many believe that Polo’s indifference towards Mark stems from an underlying bitterness over his failure to clinch the heart of Miss Earth-Canada, Rizza Santos. Rizza and Mark are rumored to be an item.

Incidentally, it was Rizza who was said to be the main reason Ara and Polo’s post-breakup friendship turned sour. Rizza is a close friend of Polo’s younger sister Ashley Gruenberg.
