OMB Chairman Edu Manzano on Senator Bong Revilla: “Wala kaming problema.”

edu_manzano.JPG

“Actually, hindi ako nagtagal kasi I had to go to Daddy Dolphy… Sorry I call him Daddy kasi kung meron isang tao na dapat nating ma-appreciate at tularan pagdating sa pagiging makatao, it’s Daddy Dolphy, yung kanyang people’s skills. Nobody is perfect. I’m sure meron din siyang ilang mga bagay that we don’t have to elaborate that he is not proud of. Pero ‘pag nakikita mo pagdating sa tao, I love the way he takes care of people,” umpisa ni Edu.

Tears flowed at Inah Revilla-Vince del Rosario wedding

inah_revilla.JPG

Great display of support from Gov. Bong Revilla. I would be sobbing too if my eighteen year old daughter is marrying at that age. I’m sure that they are happy for the couple but eighteen is really young. Some people make it through the tough times ahead, others just quit. Let’s wish the new husband and wife, long life - peace and happiness.

Inah Felicia Bautista, 18-year-old daughter of action-star-turned-politician Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla, Jr and actress Lani Mercado, tied the knot with her 23-year-old boyfriend Jorge Vicente “Vince” del Rosario, yesterday, May 28, at the Manila Metropolitan Cathedral Basilica in Intramuros, Manila.

Inah, who is five months pregnant with their first child—a girl they plan to name Alexa Daniella—walked down the aisle crying, but genuinely happy.

Bong Revilla and Lani Mercado get over big blow of Inah’s unexpected pregnancy

lani_bong.jpg

It’s funny how life is the same for celebrities and regular people. We all go through the same things. Just because you are a celebrity, it doesn’t mean that you can escape the realities of life. Having a pregnant daughter out of wedlock is simply a fact of life. Some experience it and some do not. We could all say, just take it as a growth experience.

Senator-action star Bong Revilla admits he felt crushed the moment he learned of daughter Inah’s pregnancy.

“Alam mo, napakahirap i-describe kung anong pakiramdam ng isang tatay,” he shared with the entertainment press last Saturday, April 12, during the 40th birthday celebration of wife Lani Mercado held at The Palms Country Club in Alabang, Muntinlupa City.

Lolit Solis does not want to fight with Annabelle Rama

lolit_solis.JPG

The alleged snubbing incident between Ruffa Guttierez and Lani Mercado was blown out of proportion when Annabelle Rama and Lolit Solis intervened with unselfish defense for their anaks. Ruffa is the only daughter of Annabelle while Lani is one of Lolit’s stable of stars. Their only impulse was to protect. But of course, we’re talking about Lolit and Annabelle here so the clash of sharpened tongues between the two can definitely leave a ringing no one would soon forget.

The word war between them still raged on even as Lani and Ruffa have reportedly sent feelers to each other saying that all was forgiven. Yet their patching up remains unresolved until their “mothers” zip their lips, kiss, and make up.

Bong Revilla admits wrong promotion caused low box-office standing of “Resiklo”

bong_revilla.JPG

Bong Revilla is proud of the achievement Resiklo reaped at the 2007 Metro Manila Film Festival awards night last Saturday, January 5. Resiklo won as the Best Festival Picture and garnered technical awards in other aspects of filmmaking.

He expressed his amazement for the recognition. “Nagulat kami. Pero at least, nakakatuwa yung effort namin, na-recognize. Nakita naman natin sa mga technical awards, sa lahat ng nakuha natin—pito ba o siyam—magmula sa Best Float up to Best Picture.”

But the senator-actor admits that things could have been better if they did well in the box-office as well.

“Na-maintain yung pagiging number four niya. And I hope sana in the future, yung ganitong klase ng pelikula na maipagmamalaki natin, dapat panoorin at nang ma-introduce natin yung ganitong pelikula,” he said.

E, last day of the Metro Manila Film Festival. Sayang, di ba? Yun yung ano natin, sana ma-move nila sa dati,” he lamented since in previous years, the winner of the Best Picture trophy would be able to get more earnings after it was awarded the honor.

There was still a tinge of disappointment when he was asked again about his box-office expectations. He said, “Alam mo, parte ng buhay natin ‘yan. Minsan, nandoon ka sa itaas. Nasusugatan ka. But you should learn to stand up and fight again. I mean, the reason why we’re here, e, is to help the industry. Kasi dito kami galing.

“Basta ang Imus Productions will continue to do movies like this one. But definitely, next time yung marketing namin is to target the young ones, yung mga bata. Yun yung dapat anuhin namin, kasi yung naging mali… Hindi namin nakuha yung mga bata,” he pointed out.

Bong though was a bit hesitant to say that there would be a sequel to Resiklo.

“Of course, meron kaming pinaplano. Not Resiklo. Depende. We will see. Malay natin, baka hindi man siya naging successful dito sa Philippines, baka in other countries. Isasali natin ito sa film festivals. Tingan natin.”

Bong Revilla is hopeful that Resiklo would be able to gain more audience even after the MMFF run. I believe that people should see the movie.”

“Resiklo” named MMFF Best Picture; Maricel Soriano and Jinggoy Estrada win top acting honors

resiklo.JPG

Unlike in past years, the 2007 Metro Manila Film Festival Awards Night finished in a record-breaking less than one-hour presentation held earlier tonight, January 5, at the SMX Convention Center in SM Mall of Asia. The winners were immediately announced without mentioning the nominees. This was to give way to Lani Misalucha’s concert afterwards.

Imus Productions’ Resiklo bagged the Best Picture trophy, while Star Cinema’s Sakal Sakali Saklolo and M-ZET/Octo Arts Films’ Enteng Kabisote 4 were adjudged 2nd and 3rd Best Pictures, respectively.

Senator Jinggoy Estrada won as Best Actor for his comeback vehicle, Katas ng Saudi. Bahay Kubo’s Maricel Soriano was adjudged Best Actress, but the Diamond Star was not able to accept her trophy because she is in the United States right now with her two sons.

Lani Mercado opens up about Rosanna Roces and Bong’s son with other woman

lanim.JPG

She is definitely standing her ground on this one. Hey, she’s the wife. She has every right to doesn’t she? Sometimes, it’s harder to stand by your man but if you knew right from the start, it’s water under the bridge. I think it’s a noble thing to accept the son of your husband from an ex-girlfriend.  I don’t see anything wrong with that.

- Chuva Chienes

Nagpunta naman siya and I’m happy. I think that was one of the occasions na nakarating siya. Ngayon, I think happy siya. ‘Tsaka may okasyon at inaanak niya si Ram.

Dagdag niya, “Well, so, far, maayos naman.

Senator Jinggoy Estrada to patch up rift between Bong and Edu

jinggoy.JPG

If Senator Jinggoy Estrada could help resolve this issue, it would be a blessing.  It is their role as public servants to serve the people and if this is what it’s going to take, so be it.  Hopefully he has enough pull to get Bong and Edu to resolve whatever rift it is that they are going through.

- Chuva Chienes

Kakausapin ko ulit sila malamang this week.

Bong Revilla wants to join Edu Manzano in his crusade against piracy

edu_bong4.JPG

Yes Bong, just let it go.  We have a bigger fish to fry.  Why not work on poverty, or infrastructure.  Something that is way more important than video piracy.  We have people suffering and do not even know where their next meal is coming from.  Get with the real issues Bong.

- Chuva Chienes

For actor-turned-senator Bong Revilla, his well-publicized rift with Optical Media Board (OMB) chairman Edu Manzano is water under the bridge.

Sitting in as a studio guest at Showbiz Central yesterday, December 16, Bong candidly yet seriously told host Pia Guanio, “Kung ako tatanungin mo, para sa ‘kin tapos na ‘yon.

Bong and Edu are currently in the middle of a bitter feud after the former conducted a raid at the Makati Cinema Square last December 4 and apprehended a number of vendors blatantly selling pirated videos in DVD format.

For Edu, the act initiated by Bong was a transgression of his role as OMB chief. Bong also made a comment questioning the competence of the Manzano-led bureau in carrying out its role, particularly in curbing various forms of piracy.

“Pero ang sa akin, gusto ko lang makatulong,” assured Bong while at the same time defending his actions.

Edu Manzano explains how Bong Revilla put OMB operations at risk

edu_bong3.jpg

So he has no idea kung saan kami tutuloy.”

Bong Revilla to Edu Manzano: “Walang personalan.”

bongedu.jpg

This is nothing but a publicity stunt.  Why in the heck would Bong Revilla react this way if he doesn’t have facts to prove his position?   Is he guilty?   He is the one that started bad-mouthing Edu right?  Show us the proof Bong.  Let’s see who’s telling the truth.

- Chuva Chienes

Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla assured Optical Media Board (OMB) chairman Edu Manzano that his criticism against the agency is strictly constructive and not intended as personal vendetta.

Both Bong and Edu are currently engaged in a verbal war after the former conducted a raid at the Makati Cinema Square last Tuesday, December 4, and confiscated a number of pirated videos openly peddled to the public. Bong then made a disparaging statement to the media questioning the efficiency of the Manzano-led OMB in carrying out its duty to arrest and prosecute video and audio pirates.

Hurt by the comments, Edu took a slant against Bong by saying that his curt remarks also bruised his family’s reputation.

“At this point in time, not only have you me, you hurt my family. How can I forgive you?” Edu said in rejecting Bong’s apology. “I have children and they have classmates. Hindi porke’t sorry, e, okay na.”

NOTHING PERSONAL. In an interview with Showbiz Central yesterday, December 9, Bong defended himself, “Well, unang-una, wala akong nakikitang bagay para masaktan ko ang pamilya niya.

“Talagang it’s just a matter of miscommunication. I was calling him. Patay yung cellphone,” lahad ni Bong.

Edu Manzano to Bong Revilla: “How can I forgive you?”

edu_bong.JPG

As expected, one has to have the last say on this issue.  If indeed Bong said something against Edu, he has to be ready to present the facts.  Edu came out with facts after facts for Bong to review.  What is it with politicians.  They do nothing but attack each other instead of attacking the problem?  Sheesh!

- Chuva Chienes

“I’m just here to observe kung papaano sila mag-conduct ng operation. Pero I am not satisfied.” These were just some of the words that made Optical Media Board (OMB) chairman Edu Manzano clearly disappointed with Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla. As Edu said, he was disappointed that Bong made negative comments about his duties and responsibilities, as if Bong himself had done anything significant when he was still the OMB chairman.

Edu and Bong’s verbal blows started after the senator’s raid at the Makati Cinema Square last Tuesday, December 4.

Edu laid down the statistics in an interview with ABS-CBN’s showbiz talk show, Entertainment Live, aired yesterday, December 8.

“Mr. From one billion in 2005, to 1.4 billion in 2006. Nagawa n’yo po yun nung time ninyo?” Edu asked.

Bong Revilla and Edu Manzano exhange verbal blows

bong_revilla.jpg

Why don’t they pay attention to doing their jobs better rather than pointing fingers.  That is what’s wrong with officials in the Philippines, they focus on everyone else’s duties but their own.  Do your job and stop the bickering for crying out loud!!

-Chuva Chienes

Edu Manzano, chairman of the Optical Media Board (OMB), and Senator Bong Revilla exchanged barbs yesterday, December 5.

Both government officials expressed their disappointment after an anti-piracy raid at Makati Cinema Square. Edu reportedly called Bong’s participation an “interruption” because, aside from not coordinating with him about the raid, he also had the confiscated material brought to the street for a “photo-op.”

Dinner date with Rudy, Phillip, Jinggoy, and Bong

jinggoy_philip.JPG

Four of Philippine cinema’s biggest action stars—Rudy Fernandez, Bong Revilla, Jinggoy Estrada, and Phillip Salvador—sat down for a special dinner hosted by Rudy and wife Lorna Tolentino at their White Plains residence. The special dinner was covered by StarTalk with Lorna interviewing the four action stars, as part of the show’s 12th anniversary presentation.

The evening was full of laughter and ribbing from the four longtime friends even if cameras were rolling to record their conversation. Surprisingly, Lorna remained composed even though the men were teasing each other and bantering playfully all throughout the 30-minute interview.

The two senators, Bong and Jinggoy, sat beside each other on one side of the table while Rudy and Phillip were seated on the other side. Lorna sat at the head of the table. Lolit Solis, Lorna’s Startalk co-host, was also present.

The four friends kidded each other a lot everytime one was thrown an intriguing question.

Bong was asked about his son not by Lani Mercado, while Phillip talked about meeting up with son Joshua.

Jinggoy was asked about his father, ex-president Joseph Estrada, who was recently pardoned and about the ongoing procedure to seize Erap’s properties and assets.

However, Lorna admitted that she felt uneasy while interviewing her husband Rudy about his ongoing cancer treatment.

The four men hardly ate anything though the table was laden with food. It was the merriment of sharing stories that filled them with a bellyful of laughter.
