NOT! I don’t know. I didn’t have this crazy “I’m-against-Carrie-Prejean-Syndrome” when the Miss Universe question and answer with Perez Hilton rocked the world. I was actually on her side. Then, as things progressed it dawned on my that I’ve been had.
Carrie Prejean may appear sweet and “religious” to the eyes of her followers – but I have a different view now. With all the lawsuit, the countersuit, the topless photos and now, the Sex Video Tape Leak (supposedly created for her ex-boyfriend) … I must say – she is not what her followers think she is.
With a book (entitled: Still Standing) on the line to garner skyrocketing sales which went on sale on November 9th, something had to happen to get her back on the limelight. Was the video leak done on purpose? Who’s behind all the news? It makes you wonder right?
Sarah Palin’s book Going Rogue is due out on November 17th – - and she is scheduled to appear on Oprah before the release of her book. That’s a good move. Oprah does wonders to books – - she can make them best sellers.
But to leak a sex tape video? Would you believe it’s a coincidence?
Robin Padilla says BB Gandanghari is the top fashionista on his list
Walking the ramp for Lee’s Make History fashion show last October 22 was actually a promise of things to come. Five days later, Robin Padilla signed his contract with Jag—sister company of Lee—to launch the brand’s back-to-basics campaign.
He said, “Sabi nga ng nanay ko, nung pinanganak daw ako, naka-maong ako, e. Talagang ako’y si mister maong nung araw pa. Nag-uumpisa pa lang ako sa pelikulang Pilipino, maong na. Kaya ano rin ito, isang sagot din sa mga panalangin natin.”
The action star was clad in a white shirt, jeans, a pair of cowboy boots, and a beret.
When asked if he has a stylist, he replied, “Ako lang ito.”
And when we brought up the word “fashion,” he quickly said, “wala akong ano diyan…”
But the former Bad Boy of the Philippine movies already made himself a fashion icon in the ’90s. Remember how he started the craze for bandana and fatigue jackets? Robin also revived the skinhead look for guys.
He smiled at the recollection, saying that his only intent then was to create a distinct mark for his bad-boy image. Fashion didn’t have anything to do with it.
Even the “pulseras galing sa Iran” he was wearing that day was inspired by the Greek hero Achilles, whom he described as “the greatest warrior [that] ever lived.”
“Pag sinusuot ko ito, parang ang sarap ng pakiramdam. Ginawa ko na lang siyang fashion statement. Magandang isama sa T-shirt. Imbes na kung anu-anong burloloy, amulet din,” he explained.
Binoe (his nickname) stressed that body influences his sense of fashion.
“Wala talaga akong ano diyan. Wala akong alam na sikat sa ganyan. Wala talaga, e. Sinasabi lang sa akin na, ‘O, panoorin mo lagi si ano, si ganito, si ganun…Minsan, hindi ko naman nagagawa, e. Yung sa damit, wala talaga. Minsan sabi nila, manood daw ako ng fashion channel,” the freelance actor said.
And who among the local celebrities would he consider a fashionista?
He dropped only one name: BB Gandanghari.
But he quickly clarified, “Hindi na kami nagpapakialamanan sa damit, lalo na ngayon.”
He explained, “Ibig ko sabihin, magkaiba talaga yung ano namin, style. Pero minsan, nag-guest yata ako nun sa Startalk, binihisan niya kami ng mga damit niya, yun…Nangyari na yun, pero hindi naman…Basta, iba talaga. Iba, iba, kahit na nung si Rustom pa siya, kahit na ngayon, hindi ko puwedeng sabihin na susundin ko lahat yung [style niya.]. Kasi minsan, bading yung style ng boots niya, e. Iba, iba. Yung belt niya, malaki nga, pero ang kintab! Iba talaga.”
JAG AND LIWANAG. At present, the brand’s marketing team is working on the concept. Soon Robin’s billboard will be all over the Philippines.
Jag’s Vice President for Finance Ranny Sanchez said, “We’re back to basics, and we chose Robin because we want [to push] fashion without inserting much effort. Hindi mo kailangang bihisan ng matindi, sexy na siya, that’s Robin.”
Sanchez also mentioned that the deal was about three months in the making, and its socio-civic component became the most compelling factor for Robin to accept the offer.
Robin related, “Bago pa nagkatuluyan sa Jag, e, magkasundo na kami sa usapin ng kawanggawa. Pangalawa na lang itong nagkapirmahan. Kasi bilang isa siyang negosyante, ako naman ay isang artista, parang naging parte na lang ito. Pero ang importante po sa amin ay yung makatulong kami.”
That same day, Jag donated several boxes of Jag jeans and shirts for Liwanag Kapayapaan Foundation, Inc., which was put up by the action star in 2007.
The action star continued, “Ang Liwanag po ay hindi siya nawawalan ng programa. Sa ngayon po, ang amin pong pinagkakaabalahan ay yung pagtuturo ng TESDA (Technical Education and Skills Development Authority) ng kabuhayan sa mga nasalanta po ng nakaraang bagyo. Kasi, naniniwala kami sa solusyon.
“Tama [na] bigyan natin sila ng pangsamantalang lunas pero dapat binibigyan natin sila ng preparasyon, solusyon talaga sa problema. Ito po makakatulong po ito sa kanila, kasi siyempre, pag nakatapos na sila sa TESDA, mag-a-apply na ‘yan ng trabaho. Napakagandang meron kang maisusuot na presentable [kapag] mag-a-apply ka ng trabaho. Napakalaking bagay po nito.
Liwanag put up a pre-school center for kids, but in 2005, a local official filed a complaint against Robin for building the school near his house on Maple St., Barangay West Fairview, Quezon City, without a building permit. To date, the issue has not been resolved.
Binoe said, “Hindi kami ma-approve-approve ng DepEd (Department of Education) hangga’t hindi na-so-solve…hanggang hindi nabibigyan ng solusyon ang aming problema.”
Back to his endorsement, we asked the Jag executive about Robin’s talent fee. He said he’s not authorized to disclose, but he vaguely described the amount as “cheap and kind of substantial.”
Robin remarked, his eyes smiling, “Sabi ko nga, e, si Mr. Wilfred [owner], e, mahilig sa kawanggawa. Kasama na po yung talent fee ko doon, mapagkawanggawa talaga.”

Although it was not as fun as the previous Henri David Halloween Balls that we’ve attended, it was still a fun night. Mukhang suko na yata si Chuva sa pag da-dragon…hahaha! Di ko na kayang mag-heels. Ilang beses akong nag-paa sa ball dahil halos kalyuhin ako sa sakit ng paa ko… bwahahahaa!
In fairness, maganda ang dating ng mga costumes this year kaya I will label each of the photos para malaman ninyo ang dating.

Gerald Anderson is ready to do another love scene with Kim Chiu
Gerald Anderson was one of the Star Magic artists who walked the ramp in the Magic for a Cause fashion show last October 11 for the benefit of the victims of Typhoons Ondoy and Pepeng. In an interview with ABS-CBN.com, Gerald shared how happy he was to be a part of the charity show. “It feels good because it gives us an opportunity para makatulong pa sa mga nasalanta ng bagyo. Kahit nga nakatulong na ako noon, hindi tayo dapat tumigil sa pagtulong dahil marami pa rin ang naghihirap ngayon after the calamity.” Gerald wore a creation by renowned designer Inno Sotto who also made the suit that the young actor wore in last August’s Star Magic Ball.
‘Magic for A Cause’ garners P3.4M after a night of fashion glitz and glamour
The Magic for A Cause was a huge success even with only a week to organize a full scale fashion show featuring the best and brightest Star Magic artists clad in various designer labels. First on the runway were the endorsers of Bench Pinoy Lab which includes Kim Chiu, Gerald Anderson, Jake Cuenca, Shaina Magdayao, Enchong Dee, Robi Domingo and the youngest ramp model Zaijan Jaranilla. Leaving no doubt to the audience as to who are the hottest celebrities to date. Pokwang was also a crowd favorite because everyone was expecting her to do a comic stunt while being escorted by the dashing Giggerboys. But she seriously strut her stuff instead and looked like a professional model in a classy gender-bender suit.

The Uniform Project – Sheena wears the same dress for one year.
Amazing. Apparently this started back in April 21, 2009 and I didn’t know about it. I was browsing through CNN Videos to see what I can share with my readers when I found this to be the most popular one. I watched it and I was amazed.
Sheena Matheiken has and will continue to wear the same dress for one year. It’s an excercise in sample fashion. It’s a fundraiser dubbed as The Uniform Project and was done to raise awareness to fund education of children in India. Take a look. I love it!

Henri David Ball 2009 – Philadelphia

My search results is showing a lot of people trying to find the schedule for this year’s Henri David Halloween Ball. I thought I’d make a post out of it to provide information to the readers that are looking for this year’s festivities schedule.
I have been going to the Henri David Ball since I moved to the Philly area in 1997. There were a few years that I missed but I have been going faithfully during the last 5 years. It is the biggest Halloween Ball in town. Governor Ed Rendell stops by every year and mingles with the attendees.
I can pretty much say that it’s one of the wildest parties in Philadelphia. The costumes are magnificent. And if you are thinking of going, better be dressed to impress!! If you are not dressed, you may be charged up to $60 dollars when you can pay only $25.00 (last year’s price) if you are in a costume.
There are no concrete schedule just yet but I know that it is ALWAYS celebrated on October 31st regardless of what day of the week it is. There were a few years that I had to take the next day off because October 31st fell on a weekday.
THIS YEAR, HALLOWEEN IS ON A SATURDAY! I am sure that the event will be packed because no one has to take the day off the next day.
Come on and party!! I will release the details as soon as I hear about it and the price for entrance this year when available.

It’s well-known that fashion and celebrity blogs become great hits. Just look at Perez Hilton (for celebrities) and Bryanboy (for fashion). They became instant celebrities themselves!
Now, here comes Tavi Gevinson whose blog, Style Rookie has gotten a great following. She apparently skipped school (she is only 13-years old!) to attend (and mind you – was seated on a highly coveted seat next to the stars of fashion) Fashion Week in New York City!
She was featured on the Huffington Post, Women’s Wear Daily and Daily Mail.
I wish I could have done that and told my work, “Hey, I’m sick – I’m going to the Emmy’s!” Haha! But us folks don’t have that luxury… apparently she does! And she is blowing up the fashion scene! Way to go Tavi!!!

Cosmo Bachelor Daniel Matsunaga all set to try local showbiz

Dalawang bagay ang masasabing claim to fame ng Brazilian-Japanese model na si Daniel Matsunaga. Una, ang Close Up TV commercial ni KC Concepcion, kung saan siya ang leading man ng aktres. Pangalawa, ang pinag-usapang pagrampa nito nang shirtless bilang isa sa mga hunks sa Cosmo Bachelor Bash kamakailan.
Nang magkaroon ng pagkakataon na makausap siya, ang kanyang bungad ay ang pagkakatulad niya sa kaibigan at co-Mercator model na si Akihiro Sato. Ang sabi ni Daniel, “My mom si Brazilian and my dad is Japanese. I’m a Brapanese!”
Dagdag pa niya, “I’ve been here in the Philippines for three months, it’s my first time. Nice place, nice weather.”
Napadpad niya sa Pilipinas dahil sa isang social networking site. “My agency, Mercator, they just contacted me thru the Facebook,” ang simpleng kuwento ng 21-year old male model.
WORKING WITH KC. Siyempre, inusisa namin si Daniel tungkol sa paggawa niya ng TVC with KC.
Ang description niya sa Kapamilya actress, “She’s nice, very pretty and very friendly. I first saw her in person in the shoot.”
Bago sila nag-shoot, ani Daniel, kilala na niya si KC bilang isang sikat na celebrity sa Pilipinas. Madalas na rin daw makita ni Daniel ang mga photos ng dalaga sa mga magazines.
“Yes, even in the casting, they told me there was this girl, a superstar here, and that we will be together in the commercial. I was like, ‘Oh, really?’” ang pagpapatuloy niya.
Given the chance, liligawan ba niya si KC?
Ang matipid ngunit mabilis niyang sagot: “Of course, who wouldn’t?”
COSMO BACHELOR. Inusisa rin ng PEP kung paano nakapasok ang baguhang tulad niya sa prestigious list ng Cosmo Men centerfolds.
Aniya, “I did casting and audition. I had to work with them for a magazine shoot, then I did pictures with them, and they liked me and they asked me to do a centerfold.”
Hindi pa man siya gaanong kilala, napatili na ang mga tao sa NBC Tent sa The Fort, Taguig City, noong rumampa siya sa Cosmo Bash noong ika-10 ng Setyembre.
“I was wearing jeans, I just removed the top. We were supposed to be guys who just came from prison. It was really nice, a different experience for me, and it was really, really crazy.”
Ang modeling career ni Daniel ay nagsimula sa Brazil, kung saan modelo rin ang nakatatandang kapatid.
“I was a model, I started 15, too young, e! I started in Brazil around 15 and outside Brazil, I started at 16. [My sister] started first, then I followed her steps. She’s older, she’s 23, she’s also here in the Philippines right now.”
At dahil sa pagmo-modelo, naikot na ni Daniel ang maraming lugar sa iba’t ibang panig ng mundo, tulad ng Singapore, Hong Kong, China, Malaysia, Amsterdam, Germany, Paris at Spain.
AMAZING MANILA. At kahit malayo siya ngayon sa bayang kinalakhan niya, masaya si Daniel. Manila raw “feels like home.”
“It’s an amazing place, amazing weather, amazing people…[It] feels like home, feels like Brazil sometimes, like Rio de Janeiro. It really looks like the same. Everybody’s nice, just like in Brazil, everybody’s feeling great. Sao Paulo is like Makati.”
Good news para sa mga kababaihan, ver-r-ry single and unattached si Daniel.
Kuwento niya sa PEP, “I don’t have a girlfriend. Before I had, she’s Brazilian, she’s a model also, she’s in Brazil. I don’t have anymore.”
Another good thing, hindi rin daw imposible kung kung Filipina ang susunod niyang girlfriend.
A TASTE OF LOCAL SHOWBIZ. Isa ring Brazilian ang una niyang nakatrabaho sa telebisyon, model-host na si Daiana Menezes.
Nagkakilala na raw sila dati sa isang modeling gig. “We met in Thailand in 2005 when I went to Thailand, she was also modeling there that time. Here, we did a TV show [guesting], we had to dance in Eat Bulaga.”
Isang Brazilian dish naman ang nagbigay-daan sa kanya upang makapag-guest sa isang show. “I also cooked in a TV show, I cooked a Brazilian dish in the Sweet Life show,” aniya.
MORE DETAILS ABOUT DANIEL. Football ang kanyang sport.
“I used to play professional football in Hong Kong and Brazil, all my life I played football. I stayed in Hong Kong for two years to model, I stayed there the longest, I was eighteen years old then.”
Tatlo silang magkakapatid: “I have a sister, who is also a model; and a brother in Brazil, he’s 16, he’s studying.”
Hindi pa raw siya nakakatapos ng college, at may plano siyang ipagpatuloy ang kanyang pag-aaral.
Bukod sa pagiging modelo, ambisyon din ni Daniel na maging isang aktor.
“I like to act as well. I’m learning Tagalog as well. I just had six lessons, just the basics, like kumusta, mabuti, bukas, ngayon, kahapon, magandang gabi.”
At nang tanungin siya tungkol sa mga paborito niyang showbiz personalities: “I like Robin Williams, Denzel Washington, Angelina Jolie. I like Will Smith.”
Hindi pa alam ni Daniel kung gaano katagal siyang mamamalagi sa Pilipinas. Depende raw ito sa mga opportunities na darating sa kanya. “It depends on the job. I’m sure I’m going to stay here for a while coz I still have a lot of plans,” pagtatapos ni Daniel.
Gerald Anderson – Coverboy of Cosmo Centerfolds – Bachelor Bash 2009
Being the cover boy of the Cosmo Centerfolds this year, understandable kung bakit naging kaabang-abang ang pagrampa ng Kapamilya star na si Gerald Anderson sa ginanap na Cosmo Bachelor Bash 2009 kabagi, September 10, sa NBC Tent, The Fort, Taguig City.
Si Gerald din ang nakakuha ng pinakamalakas na hiyawan mula sa mga tao sa loob ng NBC Tent, kung saan kasama niyang rumampa ang iba pang Cosmo Centerforlds this year na sina Aljur Abrenica, Ejay Falcon, Akihiro Sato, JC Tiuseco, Phil Younghusband, Xian Lim, at Daniel Matsunaga. Hindi naman nakarating sina Sid Lucero at Joem Bascon.
Pero halatang nahiya si Gerald nang sabihan na siya ang “pinakabida” among the bachelors na rumampa dahil siya nga ang huling tinawag.
“Hindi naman, hindi naman… Masaya lang. Sobrang nag-enjoy ang mga tao kaya nag-enjoy din kami,” sabi ni Gerald nang makausap ng PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) sa backstage ng NBC Tent.
Does he feel above the rest sa nangyaring show?
“Ah, hindi naman. Noong lumabas kami, pantay-pantay kaming lahat,” sagot niya.
TOPLESS GERALD. Ano ang naramdaman niya na walang tigil ang tilian ng audience—na karamihan ay mga babae at bading—habang rumarampa siya?
“Nakakahiya nga!” bulalas ng young actor. “Parang ayaw ko ngang lumabas kanina. Pero masaya. Sobrang nakakatuwa talaga. Pero siyempre, kinilig din ako kahit paano. Ito ang first time na mag-topless ako talaga.”
Two months din daw ang naging preparation ni Gerald for the event.
Ano ang exact feeling niya noong finally ay umakyat na siya sa stage?
“Nahiya ako, first time ko kasi, tapos Cosmopolitan pa. Pero pag-akyat ko sa stage, sobrang overwhelmed ako nang makita ko ang mga tao. May mga water guns pa sila!” sagot ni Gerald, na ang tinutukoy ay ang water guns na gamit ng audience upang basain ang rumarampang models at artista na gusto nila.
Ano ang naging motivation niya para mapapayag siyang rumampa nang naka-topless sa harap ng maraming tao?
“Siyempre noong tinanong ako, of course, overwhelmed ako. Masaya ako, so ginawa ko. At saka ginawa ko ang lahat para maging maganda ang outcome.”
Bago lumabas ng stage si Gerald ay ang Kapuso star na si Aljur Abrenica muna ang tinawag sa stage. Nag-usap ba sila ni Aljur sa backstage kahit na galing sila sa magkalabang networks?
“Aljur is a good guy,” sabi ni Gerald. “Nakita ko siya sa backstage, so he’s also deserving. Minsan magba-basketball kami kapag may free time.”
KIM’S POSSIBLE REACTION. Kung si Aljur ay pinanood ng ka-loveteam niyang si Kris Bernal upang magbigay ng suporta, hindi naman nagpunta kagabi ang kapareha ni Gerald sa Tayong Dalawa na si Kim Chiu. Pero ayon kay Gerald, inimbitahan daw niya si Kim at naiintindihan daw niya kung hindi man ito nakarating.
“Of course, pero si Kim naman, hindi siya puwede sa mga ganito,” sabi ni Gerald. “Hindi siya mahilig sa mga ganito, and may trabaho rin siya ngayon. Pero si Kim naman, siya ang nagsasabi sa akin na, ‘Mag-workout ka. Mag-workout ka!’”
Kung mapapanood ni Kim ang footage ng ginawa niyang pagrampa, ano kaya sa tingin niya ang magiging reaction nito?
“Ay, ewan ko!” natatawang sabi ng tanyag na ring young star ng ABS-CBN. “Sana naman maging proud siya.”
Kung si Gerald man ay napapayag mag-pose sa Cosmopolitan, hindi daw niya papayagan si Kim mag-pose for a men’s magazine.
“Ayaw ko siyempre, si Kim yun, e. At saka alam naman natin na napaka-wholesome ni Kim. Pero kung ano ang gusto niya, supportive ako,” aniya.
TAYONG DALAWA. Dalawang linggo na lang ang nalalabi at matatapos na ang pinagsasamahan nilang primetime series ni Kim na Tayong Dalawa. Ano ang nararamdaman ni Gerald sa nalalapit na pagtatapos ng kanilang teleserye?
“Nakakalungkot, pero at the same time, siyempre ang Tayong Dalawa naging consistent naman sa rating. So, masaya naman ako. Kahit papaano naman, kahit patapos na kami, masaya naman ako,” saad ni Gerald.

“Naku, hindi ko alam,” sagot ni Gerald. “Sana mas maraming project to come. Sana mas marami pang matured roles.”

“Kung yun po ang desisyon ng management. Siyempre, kahit maghiwalay man kami, alam namin sa isa’t isa na magkakaroon din kami ng project in the future,” sagot ni Gerald.

Actor Jason Schwartzman tied the knot with clothing designer Brady Cunningham on July 11 at their home in the San Fernando Valley, Calif.
“It was a very small ceremony with many family members and close friends,” the actor’s rep, Matt Labov, tells People.
Jason, 29, is best known for his roles in Rushmore, I ? Huckabees, Marie Antoinette, The Darjeeling Limited, and Funny People. Brady graduated from Parsons School of Design in New York, moved to Los Angeles and started the eco-friendly fashion label Souvenir.

E-Online reports that Leelee Sobieski (who definitely is a Helen Hunt look-alike), is now engaged to menswear designer Adam Kimmel. They showed a picture of her wearing this wonderful sparkling diamond ring on her finger. She is beautiful! You can even say she is blooming with happiness with her recent engagement.

Richard Tyler Collection Airline Dresses under attack

Of course, we all know Richard Tyler. He is a designer who has dressed up the likes of Julia Roberts, Heather Locklear and Jamie Lee Curtis. Well, he has been hired by Delta Airlines (the biggest airline operator in the world) to design the new dresses for their flight attendants, airport agents and workers.
The dress in question is the Signature RED dress where the size only goes up to size 18. The acquisition of Northwest Airlines by Delta has left out pre-merger Northwest flight attendants who have filed the complaint that they want to be able to wear the stylish red dress but it is not available in bigger sizes. They want the design to go up to size 28.
According to Yahoo News:
“The sizing of our red dress has not been an issue with Delta flight attendants since the program’s inception three years ago. This is AFA hype leading up to the election,” Laughlin said.
There are roughly 21,000 flight attendants at the combined airline, 14,000 from pre-merger Delta and 7,000 from pre-merger Northwest.

Entrepreneurs all over the world are now capitalizing on Michael Jackson memorabilias. CNN.com reports that the acution site, Ebay reported increase in listings of Michael Jackson items. (i.e. signed guitar sold for $1,300.00)
It is unknown whether the spike in demand could be short-lived or will remain steady as the years go by just like the “Beatles” memorabilia. In all cases however, entrepreneurs and medium for selling are working hard.
For those seeking to establish Web sites, domain names were available including “ILoveYouMichael.com,” which was selling for the “buy it now” price of $5,000. Officials at eBay said that compared with the daily average of the week prior, Thursday’s gross merchandise volume for Jackson memorabilia increased by 275 percent and sold items increased by 210 percent.
New listings were up 61 percent, while the average selling price of items had increased by 31 percent. – Source
Would you purchase an item just because you consider it an investment in the future? Fans seem to snatch items just because they want to keep something to remember their “King of Pop” and continue to keep him close to their hearts.

I was so engrossed for a good twenty minutes while browsing through the new blog that I found concentrated on Celebrities with their Birkins. Not so recently was the Megastar Sharon Cuneta spotted with her very own Crocodile Birkin (presumed to have cost her $39,000 USD) bag when she returned from her trip to Hong Kong.
Hermès (pronounced air-mez) bags are made by hand. The waiting period is so legendary that it could be as long as five years. The price ranges between $8,950 to as high as $160,000 dollars depending on the rarity of the crocodile skin. Very interesting blog I must say. Although the blogger admits that he is not an expert, he simply loves and adores birkins. So you can simply go to the blog and amuse yourself on which celebrity owns which bag.
There are two popular types of Hermes bags – a Kelly (named after Princess Grace Kelly of Monaco) and a Birkin (named after Actress and Singer Jane Birkin). Princess Grace was apparently photographed with a bag back in 1956 (used the bag to conceal her pregnancy) and the story about Jane Birkin varies. Just visit the blog after watching the video below:

I visited one of the blogs that inspired me to start blogging, Byranboy dot com. He had an entry today that tickled me pink. He posted an entry about something that he did the afternoon of June 11th. The pictures show a bunch of cameras facing him and other pics show a shot of what seems to be a set for a fashion show.
He stated on his blog:
Unfortunately, I was made to sign a confidentiality agreement. I’m gonna have to pay a ridiculous amount of money to the tune of 6 million pesoses (approx. US$130,000) if I squeal anything so my lips are sealed.
Hmmmm. This could be interesting. Could Bryanboy be a judge at the upcoming show, “Project Runway – Philippines?” One could only guess. More power to you Bryan!!
