PEP’s 20 Sexiest Celebs of 2008

Year 2008 saw sexy celebrities not only on the big and small screens, but even on fashion ramps and publicity prints. But unlike the show-it-all boldness in the past, last year’s hottest stars chose to display their finely chiselled physique, shapely curves, and flawless complexion in various ways: posing for glossy magazines, endorsing health and beauty products, doing a musical number, or playing a role. That’s sex appeal with pizzazz!

Now, PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) presents the top 20 sexiest male and female celebrities of 2008. Our list is based on a survey we conducted among lifestyle magazine editors, writers, and showbiz insiders. Ranking in both gender categories starts from the bottom up.

10. Luningning. One writer describes Luningning as the only reason he continues to watch Wowowee. Luningning’s sexiness on television can be described as “wholesome,” appealing not only to the adult audience but to the young Luningning-wannabes who dream of a dance showdown with her.

KC Concepcion is off to Paris after movie with Richard Gutierrez

Agad sumalubong si KC Concepcion sa ilang entertainment press na dumalaw sa set nila ni Richard Gutierrez ng Valentine movie nilang When I Met You sa San Juan City kagabi, January 5. Naroon din sa set ang mga kasama nila sa movie na sina Cherry Pie Picache and Tirso Cruz III, bilang parents ni KC at si Alfred Vargas na gumaganap namang boyfriend niya.

Nag-offer agad si KC ng dala niyang vegetarian tofu na lasang chicharon at vegetarian barbecue na lasang pork barbecue talaga. Kahit si Richard ay nasasanay na raw kumain ng mga vegetarian food na dinadala ni KC sa set. Naitanong tuloy namin kay KC kung kailan pa siya naging vegetarian.

Twin brothers Richard and Raymond Gutierrez are proud of each other’s achievements

Magbe-birthday ang kambal nina Eddie Gutierrez at Annabelle Rama na sina Richard at Raymond Gutierrez ngayong January 21. For the first time in recent years, wala silang party for friends. Nasa Coron, Palawan kasi sa araw na yun si Richard, magsu-shooting ng Valentine movie nila ni KC Concepcion for GMA Films and Regal Entertainment—When I Met U directed by Joel Lamangan.

Hindi alam ni Richard kung makakasama si Raymond sa shooting dahil baka may plano na raw ang kakambal niya. Pero mas maganda raw sana kung kahit wala silang joint party ay magkasama pa rin sila.

YES! magazine’s “Wowowillie” issue sold-out; reprints ordered

Willie Revillame has been very forthright about the story of his life. As the face of the controversial daily noontime show Wowowee, the guy who entered the business as a drummer has given us more than a glimpse of his not-usually-trouble-free world.

But just when we thought we’ve heard it all, YES! magazine published a tell-all feature, which had Willie tackling the issues and controversies that continue to hound his public image.

The January issue uncovers the various facets of his life, including the myths surrounding the man fondly referred to by his loyal followers as “Papi.” The 48-page feature was the result of an exhausting no-holds-barred interview that clocked in, as accurately stated by associate editor Anna Pingol, “seven one-hour back-to-back macro cassette audiotapes.”

Lindsay Lohan: It’s not over with Ronson

LOS ANGELES – Lindsay Lohan says she hasn’t split with DJ Samantha Ronson, despite media reports they had publicly sparred several times over the holidays.

In a brief post on her MySpace blog, the 22-year-old actress wrote: “We did NOT break up!”

Lohan asked several media outlets “AND every GOSSIP website” to get their stories straight.

The “Mean Girls” star also complained Monday that her friends had been e-mailing her to console her about the rumored breakup with the 31-year-old Ronson. The pair had confirmed their relationship last September.

Lohan’s publicist, Leslie Sloane-Zelnik, didn’t immediately respond to a message seeking comment.

Dingdong Dantes is happy being single

Tila nagiging tradisyon na nga ni Dingdog Dantes at ng kanyang pamilya na mag-spend ng holidays sa Boracay. Nagkataon naman na may mga crew rin ang Startalk sa Bora kung kaya’t nakausap nila si Dingdong during his vacation right after Christmas.

Ayon nga kay Dingdong, “Masaya! It’s my second year na kasama ko sila rito and it’s getting better. I’m always inspired, especially by them, kaya nga kapag ganitong okasyon, nakaka-engganyo, because you know, at the end of working so hard the whole year, ito ang nilu-look forward ko. Watch these two during the New Year’s eve celebration in New York. I cannot believe the discussion they were having while waiting for the ball to drop - it was hysterical. We (gays) know how hot Anderson Cooper is and how he’s somewhat out of the closet (did you see my post when he took on the challenge to race Michael Phelps?) and how we (gays?) LOVE LOVE Kathy Griffin.  You know she was trying to out him completely that night.. haha.  Imagine her asking Anderson to name the children of Sarah Palin - - and when she mentioned Crystal (”Crystal is my favorite”) , I almost died.

Access Hollywood’s Most Searched and Top Stars Of 2008

To kick things off, it’s the town’s most eligible bachelor – George Clooney. Gentleman George came in at number five, with 30 stories on Access Hollywood in 2008. From fighting off engagement rumors, to his split from gal pal Sarah Larson… and even a rumored return to “ER,” Clooney was a staple in 2008.

Coming in right ahead of George was fellow box office superstar Tom Cruise, who appeared in 31 Access Hollywood stories in the past year. A reunion with Oprah, a reconciliation with Matt Lauer, taking on his “Valkyrie” role and shooting down rumors of a “Top Gun” sequel were just a few of the headlines that brought Tom to our airwaves in 2008.

Movie stars certainly weren’t the only ones showing up on Access over and over again this year. In fact, Justin Timberlake bested Clooney and Cruise with 33 stories this year. Kicking things off with his bruising Super Bowl Pepsi ad, taking the stage as host of the ESPYs and ending the year in high heels alongside Beyonce on “Saturday Night Live,” all the while dodging countless relationship questions about girlfriend Jessica Biel, JT reigned supreme when it came to Access’ male music star coverage in ’08.

“Maalaala Mo Kaya” stint rekindles Jake Cuenca and Roxanne Guinoo’s friendship

Bukas ng gabi, January 3, ay mapapanood na ang episode ng Maalaala Mo Kaya, tampok ang former lovers na sina Roxanne Guinoo at Jake Cuenca.
Bagama’t parehong professional ang dalawa pagdating sa kanilang trabaho ay aminado naman si Jake na nagkaroon ng ilangan sa pagitan nila ni Roxanne noong first taping day. Hindi naman kaila sa publiko na hindi naging maayos ang paghihiwalay ng dating magkasintahan na nasundan pa diumano ng isang pagtatalo sa Guam.

Pinoy Hunk Carlos Agassi declines bold roles

Carlos Agassi used to be frequently seen on television and movies in the earlier years of his career in showbiz.  As he grew older, the former member of the all-male singing group The Hunks got fewer and fewer projects per year.

Last year, he had only two projects for ABS-CBN Primetime Bida: Rounin and Princess Sarah.  This year, he has appeared only in the weekly fantaserye Dragonna, which started last Saturday.

Jon Avila says lakas ng loob helps him deal with showbiz intrigues

Filipino-British actor Jon Avila could be one of the half-Pinoys who will miss celebrating Christmas in the country where they grew up.

In an interview, the Kapitan Boom actor admitted that he misses having a good time with his friends in the U.K. during Christmas. “I miss being with my friends, just go out at the pub and then go out in the streets to party,” he said.

While it is obvious that he admires tough method actors like Marlon Brando and Sean Penn, James Caan’s eldest son also has a strong egalitarian streak, evidenced by his reasoning for baring his body in the film Varsity Blues (1999). He is quoted as saying that originally only the women in the scene were to be nude, but that he felt it really sexist, so he stripped too.

Dingdong Dantes joins David Beckham, Johnny Depp, and Eric Bana in E!’s Sexiest Men of the World

PEP was able to get the complete list of E! Television’s Top 25 Sexiest Men of the World this year, which includes our very own Dingdong Dantes. The Filipino actor ranked third overall with soccer superstar David Beckham from the United Kingdom topping the list.

Dingdong’s official ranking was announced during the young actor’s concert with onscreen partner Marian Rivera, Let’s Celebrate, at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California, last December 5. E!’s Clearances & Supervisor Brian Potter personally made the announcement in front of more than 4,000 people.

This special feature of E! was first aired in the United Kingdom and is also scheduled to air in the United States and Asia. According to Mr. Potter, their feature on the Top 25 Sexiest Man of the World was one of their highest-rated shows.

1. DAVID BECKHAM (soccer player, United Kingdom) - He’s the man by which
all others must be measured. An English football player in the England National

Ryan Lochte (born August 3, 1984) is an American swimmer. He is a multiple world record holder and Olympic gold medalist.
