Remake of Footloose Trailer Released – (VIDEO)
Dunno if you were alive back then when Footloose came out. Yup, Kevin Bacon was the hottest thing back then. The music, the dance sequence, the truck scene… all those.
Someone decided to remake the movie without A-list stars like Chace Crawford or Zac Efron (or at least, none of them want to do it). But they do have cute guys replacing the original cast. I probably will watch it just so I can compare. And I love the music… so we’ll see how it fares out to the original.

Green Lantern takes top spot over the weekend at the box office – June 17-19
Although it fell below studio expectations, Green Lantern starring Ryan Reynolds still took the top box office spot over the weekend.
Green Lantern took in $53.2 million over the weekend opening at 7,200 screens across 3,816 locations falling short of the expected $55 million in gross ticket sales. It also topped the UK box office taking in £2.4m in gross ticket sales.
Super 8 Took the Number One Box Office Spot Over the Weekend of June 10-12
My hunch for the weekend box office hit was right again this time. (Trailer on the right side bar is Chuva’s weekly prediction on which movie will take number one spot at the box-office).
Steven Spielberg’s thriller, “Super 8″ took number one with $37 million putting last week’s number one, X-Men down to number two with $25 million. Hangover Part II took the number three spot with $18.5 million.
Super 8 got my attention last week and I planned on watching it over the weekend but Philly Pride got in the way of my plans.
I ended up celebrating Pride in Philadelphia, PA with my friends – - I will be posting photos soon!
X-Men: First Class ruled the Box Office this weekend of June 3 – 5, 2011
Raking in $56.4 million dollars on its first weekend release, X-Men: First Class ruled at the box office this weekend. Last weekend’s box office hit, Hangover Part II followed 2nd with $31.4 million, and Kung Fu Panda 2 raked in $24.3 million.
Not bad for summer movies for a start. One surprising hit this summer is “Bridesmaids”. I still have to see it. A lot of my sisters and friends are raving about it….

Rise of the Planet of the Apes Starring James Franco – (Video Trailer)
In a bizarre experiment that has gone totally wrong, Rise of the Planet of the Apes looks promising – at least from the video trailer standpoint.
James Franco, Andy Serkis and Freida Pinto stars in the movie – in theaters August 5th.
An origin story set in present day San Francisco, where man’s own experiments with genetic engineering lead to the development of intelligence in apes and the onset of a war for supremacy.

Hangover II was throbbing this weekend! $86M in ticket sales. Woohoo!
The first three days of release of Hangover Part II was a great success, claiming number one this Memorial Weekend holiday with $105M in ticket sales.
No one can deny that the first one was such a hit, it called for a sequel. I didn’t know how they were going to make the story line work but apparently, they did it.
In The Hangover Part II, Phil (Bradley Cooper), Stu (Ed Helms), Alan (Zach Galifianakis) and Doug (Justin Bartha) travel to exotic Thailand for Stu’s wedding. After the unforgettable bachelor party in Las Vegas, Stu is taking no chances and has opted for a safe, subdued pre-wedding brunch. However, things don’t always go as planned. What happens in Vegas may stay in Vegas, but what happens in Bangkok can’t even be imagined.
This is like the modern “City Slickers” for me. Don’t you think?
3D Lord of the Rings “The Hobbit” Starts Filming (Photos Released)

The very first book I ever read by J.R. Tolkien’s novel that would eventually become Lord of the Rings. I read this novel through a suggestion by a guy that I was dating at the time and I absolutely loved it. Bilbo Baggins was a character I became very fond of.
Now that it is being turned into a movie, I can’t wait to see it! They started filming “The Hobbit” today in New Zealand and photos were released through The Hobbit Blog. The first of the two Hobbit films will be released in 2012.
Super Kilig – Catch Me I’m In Love – Gerald Anderson and Sarah Geronimo (Video Trailers)

It’s really weird that Kimerald fans actually accepted the paring of Sarah Geronimo and Gerald Anderson in their new film that is due to be released on March 23, 2011 – Catch Me I’m In Love.
The pair somewhat reminds me of the Nestor de Villa and Nida Blanca pair up during the LVN Studio days. I think it’s going to be uber successful and I wish both of them the best! I think this is going to be bigger than the John Lloyd Cruz and Sarah Geronimo love team…. just because.
The Rite Starring Anthony Hopkins and newcomer Colin O’ Donoghue takes over Weekend Box Office

If you have ever witnessed an exorcism in your lifetime, this movie will not only make it a reality for you once again but it will surely make you believe that both God and evil exists.
I have witnessed an exorcism personally and have worked with people who have performed exorcisms. The movie was inspired by true stories. Although I have never seen someone being exorcised looked the way Anthony Hopkins looked in this movie or any of the subjects for that matter, I have seen them act very close. The accounts of these stories are so real that you have to say that a whole lot of research went into making the movie. Things such as “Don’t look into their eyes.” or “subjects react negatively on holy objects such as a crucifix or a bible” are very real.
The Rite was number one this weekend taking in $15M knocking Ashton Kutcher and Natalie Portman‘s rom-com No Strings Attached to number two with $13.6M.
Craigslist Killer Movie to Premiere Tonight [VIDEO TRAILER]

Twitter is buzzing tonight about the premiere of the TV movie “The Craigslist Killer“. If you remember, this is a story of a handsome medical student named Phillip Markoff. He had a very promising future and engaged to be married. However, he was charged on the murder of Julissa Brisman, a masseuse whom he met through the popular online ad site “Craigslist”
His fiancee initially stood by him but later broke off the engagement. Markoff was found dead in his cell back in August after committing suicide.
Watch a preview of the The Craigslist Killer, which airs on Lifetime at 9 p.m. ET/PT and 8 p.m. CT, below:
Little Fockers takes over holiday weekend with $34 mil in ticket sales
This is the weekend that breaks the box-office open. Christmas weekend is usually a “movie weekend” for many and many have preferred to see Robert De Niro and Ben Stiller in Little Fockers over the holiday weekend instead of Tron. The Fockers series have grossed a total of $840 million worldwide.
Here’s the list of winners over the Christmas Holiday weekend.

Chuva Chienes @ the Movies: Love & Other Drugs and Tangled

Hmmmm. Where do I want to start? I want to start with how expensive it is to see a movie these days! Sheez! $11.50 plus taxes? Come on peeps!! Almost $50 for four people – yikes!
Anyway, we really went to the movies to see Tangled. The Disney film about Rapunzel (princess with the long golden hair). Yes, I loved it. It was magical as I expected. You should bring your kids to see it.
After the first movie, we snuck into the adjacent theater.. .(sshhhhh). We saw Love & Other Drugs. I must say, Anne Hathaway better get an Oscar nomination. She played her part really well and so did Jake Gyllenhaal. There were a lot of nudity (specially Anne Hathaway) and I didn’t mind it at all. Jake was in the buff more times than any past film he’s done and his body is amazing! The butt alone was enough for me to say – give him an Oscar!! LOL! Don’t go looking for a full frontal cause there isn’t any.
Source Code Movie Trailer – - Watch if you want Jake Gyllenhaal inside you. LOL!

Here’s a sci-fi movie trailer of Source Code where Jake Gyllenhaal stars as a military guy who enters the body of someone through a device during the last eight minutes of their lives. At least that’s what I heard.
Here’s the actual plot:
A soldier (Gyllenhaal) becomes part of an experimental government program that is investigating a train bombing. He is forced to relive the incident over and over again until he can find out who is responsible and how to prevent the next terrorist attack from occurring.
I’m not sure about the plot and if it’s actually going to kick ass at the box office. Judging from the trailer, I may say that this movie may be a flop but you’ll never know. Set to be released on April 15, 2011.
Watch the trailer after the jump.
Edgy and dark “Little Red Riding Hood” Movie Trailer

It’s not going to be the story of Little Red Riding Hood and the wolf who ate grandma. It’s much more dark and scarier than that. The new movie starting Amanda Seyfried is set to be released in March of 2011. It’s got a touch of Twilight to it if you ask me yet it still looks interesting. Let’s hope that the wolf does have a hot body like Taylor Lautner.
Here’s a teaser trailer:
Movies out this weekend: For Colored Girls, Megamind and Due Date (Video Trailers)

The last movie I saw on the big screen was “The Social Network” and I was glad I saw it. There are more movies coming out towards the end of the year and there are a few I’d like to see. One of them is Due Date and Megamind in 3D. There are lots of Oscar buzz about For Colored Girls by Tyler Perry but I’m not so sure. It does have an A-List cast. I wonder if they could pull it off.
Which movies would you like to see?
Hereafter Review and Full HD Movie Trailer Starring Matt Damon

One of the movies for me that is a must-see is Hereafter starring Matt Damon. When the weather starts to get cold and you know that Halloween is fast approaching, it’s nice to see movies that will either scare the shit out of you or at least get you thinking about the next life.
The new movie by Clint Eastwood entitled Hereafter is showing in theaters. I would suggest that if you are in the mood of seeing a movie tonight, watch Hereafter. It’s more of a soul-searching movie than a supernatural thriller movie.
If you get the chance to see the movie, see it. It received rave reviews and is posted on the internet so I believe it would be an awesome film to watch on a Friday night.
Full Trailer – Till My Heartaches End – Starring Gerald Anderson and Kim Chiu

The chemistry between Gerald Anderson and Kim Chiu is just magical. It’s one union that makes movies a blockbuster. The new movie ‘Till My Heartaches End is sure to rule the box office upon its release on October 27th.
Here’s the clip:
Eric Stoltz was the original Marty McFly on Back to the Future – not Michael J. Fox

You’ve read it, you heard it. It doesn’t matter. It is true and if you don’t believe it, Eric Stoltz said that he will release footage of the Back to the Future film with him as Marty McFly (the part made famous by Michael J. Fox in the Back to the Future Series).
A clip, released by Eonline.com, the co-writer of Back to the Future said that Eric Stoltz played the role of Marty McFly for five weeks until he was replaced. According the Robert Zemeckis, the movie director of the film, “this horrific decision; it was heartbreaking for everybody. He’s a magnificent actor but his comic sensibilities were very different from what I had written with Bob [Gale], he and I were never able to make that work.”
Who do you think played it best?
Sarah Butler on “I Spit On Your Grave” Movie Trailer (VIDEO)

The remake of the 1978 film, I Spit on Your Grave stars Sarah Butler (Belle from Beauty and the Beast – Disneyland), CSI: New York and CSI: Miami
It was grueling for the actress as she prepared for the role of an writer in a cabin who was brutally attacked and sexually assaulted. The role of Jennifer then responded in revenge as she went on a killing rampage against her attackers.

Bruce Willis appears on Letterman wearing a meat hairpiece. (VIDEO)
I have never seen Bruce Willis making light jokes but his appearance on Late Show with David Letterman last night was a hoot, wearing a piece of red meat on his head. Better yet, it’s “top-shelf organic” inspired by Lady Gaga‘s meat dress.
Way to go Bruce! He’s got a new movie coming out entitled Red scheduled for release on October 15.

“The Social Network” may just be the number one movie this weekend.

I got to see The Social Network and I must say – - it is a great story. The acting of both the lead ( Jesse Eisenberg as Mark Zuckerberg ) and the supporting actor ( Andrew Garfield as Eduardo Saverin and the next Spiderman) are phenomenal. There may be Oscars on the horizon for these two guys.
Whether it’s the truth or not, the story is a great lesson for start-up companies who are trying to be the next Goliath in the tech world.
Going in business with a friend should really be banned. When the money starts pouring in, you get to find out who your real friends are.
If you haven’t seen the movie, I suggest you go see it.
Case 39 Movie Trailer (HD) – Renee Zellweger and Bradley Cooper stars

I love horror movies and since Fall is here and we’re anticipating Halloween, this movie is perfect timing for the ever-so-fast-changing weather here in my corner of the world. These are the times when seeing a horror flick in theaters are more fun.
Renee Zellweger plays the role of a social worker who removes 10-year old Lilith from an abusive home when she discovers that it may not be the parents who are abusing the child. She stars with the ever-sexy Bradley Cooper in the film.
Watch the trailer below… it looks like it’s my type of film.
The film has been shown internationally since 2009, I wonder why it’s being released last in the US. The movie will be in theaters on October 1st.
Latest of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 TV Spot

I don’t know if the teasers are doing something good for the movie. To anticipate a movie release with bits and pieces released on teaser TV Spots seem a little too much for me but it may work. Surely, the advertising execs have already market-tested this type of advertisement.
Here’s the one recently released for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – TV SPOT.
Coming to theaters near you – NOVEMBER 19, 2010.
ChatRoulette brings on something scary helping promote The Last Exorcism
If you gotta promote a movie these days, you gotta be creative. Remember how “The Blair Witch Project” became a phenomenal movie back then because of their online campaign? How about “Paranormal Activity“? Another successful one simply by showing the audience’s reaction to the movie without showing much of the movie at all.
Ha! Now, here’s a clever one. If you haven’t checked out ChatRoulette yet you must be living in a cave. But it’s a web app where you can randomly meet people with their video cams and you can choose to stay and chat if you like what you see or move on to the next one.
Well, here’s what these people got when the randomly landed on this beautiful girl’ cam… look at their reactions – it’s a clever way of promoting “The Last Exorcism” Take a look:

Natalie Portman smooching Mila Kunis in Black Swan (Video Trailer)
Not sure if you’re into this.. LOL! But the new trailer released of Black Swan – starring Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis show the two sharing a kiss as ballerinas Nina and Lily respectively.
Watch the video ever so carefully to catch the glimpse of the kiss.
The movie was chosen to open the Venice Film Festival which starts in Sept. 1.
Rooney Mara will be Lisbeth Salander on ‘Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’
I have never heard of the book until a friend of mine (whom I can never picture would ever read a book other than Zoological or Botanical books – yes, including Human Anatomy) mentioned that he bought a book entitled “The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo”. Of course, he didn’t want to read it unless it is a certified book of interest.
He gave the book to his sister-in-law (who is a college professor) to read and to tell him whether the book is worth reading or not.
Chuva’s Movie Night – Eat, Pray, Love
Hmmm. I’ve been looking for something lately that would give me the “uhhhhhmmm” moment. You know, one of those YOGA-like sessions of peace and harmony and all that bullshit. Life has been chaotic of late and it’s really hard to get away with limited funds and limited days off.
One thing that I will be doing tonight is watching Eat, Pray, Love – starring my one and only America’s Sweetheart - – Julia Roberts. I think this film resonates with a lot of people specially in America where everyone is pretty much stuck in a rut (economy hello!) and couldn’t do much. People just want to get away and find that something.
Top Box Office Films for the Weekend July 30 – August 1
It wasn’t suprising that Leonardo Dicaprio’s Inception took the number one spot over the weekend followed by Dinner for Schmucks comedy. Salt, starring Angelina Jolie came in third.
The movie that I wanted to see was Charlie St. Cloud starring Zac Efron yet it only came in as 6th among the summer blockbuster films for the past weekend.
I did hear great things about Inception among critic reviews and Facebook feedback from moviegoers.
We are planning to see a movie tomorrow night, so I think my movie choice will be trumped again with Inception when we decide to go. I don’t mind though because the reviews are pretty amazing and I like Leonardo Dicaprio as well.
Watch the life of Mark Zuckerberg – Facebook Founder in “The Social Network”
At the age of 20, he launched what is now the most powerful and globally known social networking site - Facebook. Mark Zuckerberg is a true genius – a success story.
Facebook now claims to have crossed a new milestone, gaining 500 million registered users. Not an easy feat for any of the other social networking sites to imitate.
For being 6 years old, Facebook is worth an approximate 37 billion dollars, making Mark Zuckerberg a billionaire. There is a film being made on how the social networking giant got started. The movie is entitled, “The Social Network” set to be released in October.
From the classrooms in Harvard to what it is today – the story gets very interesting (Justin Timberlake is in the movie)… read a synopsis on Helium.
This would be an interesting story to watch.
Mark Zuckerberg will also lend his voice on The Simpsons in an episode called “Loan-A Lisa”
The new season starts Sunday, September 26 on FOX.
Watch the Teaser Trailer of the film, “The Social Network” below:
