Well deserved I must say!  No innocence should be lost from predatory people like Tony Alamo.

Convicted over the summer of taking five underage girls across state lines to have sex with them, evangelist Tony Alamo was today sentenced to 175 years in prison by a judge in Texarkana, Ark.

“May (God) have mercy on your soul,” U.S. District Judge Harry Barnes told Alamo, the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports.

Alamo, 75, is a one-time clothing entrepreneur. The victims testified they were taken as “child brides” by the evangelist.

Efren has received many awards in the past for his passion and his dedication to making a difference.  He has another chance to tell the world that BIG things sometimes come in SMALL packages.

INGDirect Website Account Login Page is Down – Inacessible

I don’t know what’s going on but I hope that this downtime is temporary. I have never experienced this with INGDirect.com’s website but for the past two hours, the Website’s Account Login is inaccessible.

I have placed a call through their customer service center and was told that the website is indeed having difficulties and that the web server may be down. I have had intermittent access issues today from a webpage error to the notice you see above.

I hope they fix it soon because this is probably causing thousands of people a huge amount of inconvenience not being able to access their accounts.

Hate Crimes Bill Is Passed! October 28, 2009

We continue to make history and this one is close and very dear to my heart. I was still living in California at the time when Matthew Shepard, a young gay man – was cruelly beaten and left in the desert to die because he is gay. It was a very sad time for me.

Yesterday, President Barack Obama signed the Matthew and James Byrd, Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act. A historic day not only for gays but for all Americans.

The Matthew Shepard and James Byrd Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act would expand the federal definition of hate crimes to include those motivated by gender, sexual orientation, gender identity and disability. It also will allow federal authorities to pursue hate-crimes cases when local authorities are either unable or unwilling to do so.

“We must stand against crimes that are meant not only to break bones, but to break spirits — not only to inflict harm, but to instill fear” … “Because no one in America should ever be afraid to walk down the street holding the hands of the person they love,”… “No one in America should be forced to look over their shoulder because of who they are or because they live with a disability.” – Pres. This is a day in history that I will never forget. I am so glad that I lived to see it happen.

Boy in Balloon found at home in the Attic – Safe

This TV drama couldn’t have ended better than this.  Imagine the frantic people watching this saucer-like balloon waving in the wind thinking that a boy is either inside or may have fallen off as it swayed uncontrollably.

The 6-year old boy was found in the attic of their home.  The search was prompted when the boy’s older brother told police that his younger brother Falcon Heene climbed at the box that was supposedly attached to the helium-balloon craft.

As it unfolded, it was found that the boy didn’t board the craft.   Instead, he climbed and hid in the attic.

“Apparently the boy’s been there the whole time. He’s been hiding in cardboard box in the attic above the garage,” Sheriff Jim Alderden said.

Thank goodness!  Apparently, the family is very much interested in aliens and storms.   For more details, visit MSNBC.com

Boy missing thought to have flown in a helium baloon – VIDEO

Sheeshamagudness!  How could it happen? A boy from Denver is thought to be inside a hot air helium balloon  ( a home-made aircraft from what reports say).  It was horrible as they have now found the baloon but the 6-year old boy was not inside.

Sources say that the 6-year old boy is Falcon Heene – confirmed to be  Myumi and Richard Heene’s son who appeared in   ‘Wife Swap’.    They said that the balloon got as high as 25,000 feet. No confirmation just yet whether the boy was indeed inside the balloon or not. This is a developing story.

Tasered 72-Year Old Woman gets $40,000 in settlement

You may remember this video last summer where a divided opinion rose about Kathryn Winkfein, a 72-year old woman in Austin, TX who was stopped by a deputy constable when she was caught speeding, running at 60 mph on a 45 mph construction zone. The woman appeared very uncooperative and allegedly resisting arrest and daring the officer to tase her. She was definitely going against the officer’s orders while the officer was trying to calm her down and shoved her twice to avoid oncoming traffic from the road. She kept saying that she’s going back to her car even though the officer ordered her not to and warned her twice that he was going to use the taser on her if she did.

Well, she continued on until the officer was forced to use the taser gun on her (twice), handcuffed her and took her to jail.

Apparently, the county has awarded her a settlement of $40,000 USD because of the incident. The county’s reason? If they fought her lawsuit, they would spend more than just the $40,000 settlement.

Hmm… that doesn’t sound right to me. Is the sweet 72-year old woman who stands at 4′11″ setting a precedence that you can be awarded for doing something against the law?

Pinoy educator “Efren Penaflorida” makes it to list of “Top 10 CNN Heroes”

Filipinos are making waves abroad not just in the entertainment scene, but also through humanitarian efforts.

On Nov. 26, Cavite native Efren Peñaflorida, Jr. is stepping into the halls of the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood to attend CNN Heroes: An All-Star Tribute, which will honor him and nine other people from around the world who are “making a difference.”

CNN, which marks its third year of recognizing heroes around the world, will award Efren $25,000 for his “extraordinary accomplishments.”

The 28-year-old educator won the recognition from the international news agency because of his Dynamic Teen Company, a volunteer organization he founded that aims to uplift the lives of poor children living in slums in the Philippines.

No Visuals to the Naked Eye – NASA Moon Bombing – VIDEO

In case you missed it, the Today show was broadcasting NASA’s project to send a “centaur rocket” and bomb the moon in order to detect the presence of water. Even though Today was monitoring the activity, there was really nothing that the naked eye could see when it finally happened.

It was expected that an explosion will occur after the blast which could be seen through the live feed but it never happened. A sensor was sent minutes after the bomb hit the moon to collect data.

7.9 Magnitue Earthquake hits American Samoa

What is going on?!  I have friends in American Samoa who’s lived there for almost two decades.  When I read the news all I could think of was, “What’s going on?!”  The Philippines just suffered a major disaster with the flooding that resulted from typhoon Ondoy and now this?

I hope that my friends are okay and that a Tsunami is not imminent.

The news read:

A 7.9 magnitude earthquake struck off American Samoa on Wednesday, according to the US Geological Survey.

The epicenter of the quake was located 190 km southwest of the remote Pacific island. It struck at a depth of 33 km.

An earthquake of this magnitude is capable of causing a tsunami, although there were no immediate reports of this occurring.

A tsunami warning was issued for New Zealand and other small Pacific islands following the earthquake.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center, a branch of the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, issued the warning.

A tsunami watch was in effect for Hawaii, Papua New Guinea and other small Pacific islands.

The agency noted that its warning did not mean a tsunami had necessarily been generated by the quake. The warning was issued because a quake of this magnitude had the power to generate a destructive tsunami, it said.

In 2004, a quake in the Indian Ocean generated a powerful tsunami that killed tens of thousands people in Asia. – Source

What’s going on??!!! Los Angeles Times reports that no warning is necessary for the Pacific Coast of California, Oregon or Washington. Samoans were asked to move to higher grounds.

I hope that there are no casualties and that the damages are minimal.

There are many celebrities offering their help and providing hands-on help just like this KC. Gerald Anderson looks much much cuter now after a photo of Gerald spread over the internet like wildfire when he risked his own safety to make sure that his neighbors are okay.

KC Concepcion, Gerald Anderson and many other celebs are showing the true spirit of bayanihan in this time of desperate need. BRAVO!!

“Jackie Bermejo” “Jacque Bermejo” – A *itch by any other name is still a *itch!

Filipinos, Non-Filipinos, Pinoy Celebrities and even Hollywood Celebrities are pulling together to help the victims of Ondoy. The Barrio Siete Bayanihan fund just crossed over the $1,000 dollar (PhP 57K) mark. We are all devastated with the news and many are still homeless.   We heard of Gerald Anderson braving the flood to help and we read about KC Concepcion helping out as well.

Howcome there are still insensitive people out there then? Have you heard the Case of Jackie Bermejo? Nakita ninyo na ba ang Facebook comment nitong Ms. Bermejo na ito? She claims that her account was hacked and that she didn’t personally put the comment there.

Many Filipinos are outraged by the insensitive comment that she made on her Facebook Account.  It didn’t take that long for the flurry of angry Filipinos to lambast her about her insensitivity.   Her comment?

buti n lng am hir in dubai! maybe so manny sinners bak der! yeah deserving wat hapend.

A Facebook Group was set up to let this individual know that Pinoys were not happy about her stupid comment.  Her multiply account is now filled with counter messages from Pinoys all over the globe.

At hindi lang yon.. there’s also another picture of Mikey Arroyo buying liquor while the wrath of Ondoy is takes its disastrous toll.  Ano ba?  I think he just sealed his political future coffin and dug his political future grave so deep that there’s no saving it.

Why is Google spelled Googlle today?

I had planned on posting pictures from Butse Gang’s biggest party this year today.   However, with the recent news about typhoon Ondoy hitting the Philippines causing casualties and damage, we are dedicating today’s post to help the flood victims.    The televised news through ABS-CBN and GMA are too heart-wrenching to watch and we know that many of our fellowmen have been affected.    Chuva Chienes dot com joins Barrio Siete in helping the flood victims.

Can a woman get pregnant while she’s pregnant? Again?

This is shockingly weird ay? What’s funny is that everyone knows that women who are pregnant do not stop having sex but there’s just no proof to back it up (well, physical proof!). Haha!

Now there is one! Apparently, a woman from Fort Smith, AR who is already pregnant conceived again after two and a half weeks and was discovered while she was going through the regular ultra sound check up. The babies are not considered twins but would be born separately. One at the end of this year and the other earlier next year.

This is a very rare occurrence and it is known to be called – superfetation.  Superfetation is defined as “successive fertilization of two or more ova of different ovulations resulting in the presence of embryos of unlike ages in the same uterus”.

Interesting huh?

I still find this soooo cute.. even after a few days. Dad catches foul ball, 3-year old tosses it back out.

You probably have heard about it or seen it on TV. It was the Phillies game… dad catches his first-ever foul ball, hands it to his 3-year old only for her to end up tossing it out again.

It was not the fact that the ball was lost but how the dad reacted to the 3-year old girl that made this a nationwide (if not worldwide) sensation).

What makes them do horrible things? Raymond Clark III charged on Yale Grad Student’s Murder

I don’t understand – and probably will never understand what triggers people to do horrible things such as this.  If I remember correctly, just last April another guy dubbed as the “Craigslist Killer” Philip Markoff who allegedly murdered Julissa Brisman after she was discovered lying face down in a pool of blood at a hotel in Boston.   She was a masseuse and she was at the hotel to meet a client whom she met on Craigslist which will be featured on Seven Days of Rage .  (The program will be broadcast on Saturday, Sept. 19 at 10 p.m. ET/PT in conjunction with the release of the book “Seven Days of Rage: The Deadly Crime Spree of The Craigslist Killer” (Pocket Books) out this week.

Now here comes another guy, Raymond Clark III who was charged Thursday, September 17th,  for allegedly killing a 24-year old Yale Grad Student, Annie Le after taking samples of his saliva, hair  and fingernail samples to compare with the evidence at Yale’s Medical School.

Both men are good-looking men and had what seems to be promising careers.    If you look at their pictures on social networking sites, they appear to be normal and fun-loving individuals.  I would never even suspect either one of them to be capable of murdering anyone just by looking at them.  But I guess that is the mystery.  What makes these individuals commit such horrible crimes?

Even the most angelic-looking guy could be a murderer.    Take a look at these photos.  Both men look so normal.  You will never guess that these men are capable of murder.  One can never be too careful these days.

Patrick Swayze, Hollywood’s Dirty Dancer, Dead at 57

It’s a shame.  I got back from my trip and this it the news that welcomed me home.  My week-long vacation was a blast.  Yes folks – Chuva Chienes is back.

I was hoping that he would beat it.  He was so courageous in fighting the disease.  From knowing someone who died of pancreatic cancer last year after eight months since he was diagnosed, I didn’t think Patrick would live longer than eight months.   But he survived for more than a year.

I read from E-Online.com:

Patrick Swayze, the movie star whose iconic roles in Dirty Dancing and Ghost transcended and the man whose perseverance in the face of advanced cancer inspired, died today in Los Angeles. He was 57.

“One thing I’m not gonna do is chase staying alive,” Swayze told Barbara Walters in January. “You spend so much time chasing staying alive, you won’t live.”

At the time, Swayze guessed he had two more years to live.

Swayze was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in early 2008. Despite the gloom and doom of initial tabloid reports, Swayze went on to star in the A&E cop drama The Beast.

“I’m a miracle, dude. I don’t know why,” Swayze was quoted as saying shortly before he began work on the series.

Still, not one to sugarcoat the toll the disease took on him, Swayze told Walters the show’s summer 2008 shoot was hell.

“By the third episode in, at one point I didn’t know if I was gonna finish this thing and I thought I’d made a big mistake,” Swayze said. “It just made me angry at myself, though.”

Days before the Walters interview premiered, Swayze was hospitalized with pneumonia. He was released within a week and announced plans to write a memoir with his wife of 34 years, Lisa Niemi. The book was due this fall.

It’s such a sad day.  For a fighter like Patrick Swayze, I can only say – he gave the fight his all.  Rest in Peace Patrick.

CNN reports charges of alleged “deviant hazing and humiliation” of new recruits on explosive photos including half-naked men in compromising positions of guards guarding the embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan that may be seen at the website Gawker.com by the contractor hired by the State Department that threatens the Embassy’s security.

Project on Government Oversight (POGO) obtained the photos of superiors and other guards off duty hazing new recruits getting naked with one another that include simulation of homosexual sex and other offensive gestures in a Muslim country.

There were a few hours today where Gmail was inaccessible to many of its users. Gmail, one of the largest free email service on the web had an outage today which was posted on their blog:

Kiko Pangilinan is willing to give up VP bid for Mar Roxas

This is getting more exciting than I originally thought.  It was like last year’s presidential elections here in the U.S. where Hillary Clinton was expected to be the front runner until Barack Obama came into the picture.  In the end, the Democratic Party united and won the elections.

The gesture that Mar Roxas did to give way to Noynoy Aquino III is a great sign of unification.  Now, Kiko Pangilinan has hinted as well that he would be glad to give way to Mar Roxas should he decide to run for VP.   It seems that the Liberal Party is really working towards unity and if this is the case, I think they would go into the 2010 election and can expect pure victory.

In a statement, Kiko Pangilinan said:

“Senator Roxas displayed supreme statesmanship with this move. We laud his recognition of the country’s need for reform over individual ambition. This display of sacrifice is what our countrymen yearn for.”

He said Roxas’ announcement would “help unite a reform-oriented front towards genuine political reform.” – Source

Although I was rooting for Kiko Pangilinan for VP, I am also glad that he made this statement and is willing to unify the party. It also gives him enough time to prepare for a future run for the presidency. I guess I now have to switch gears and learn more about Mar Roxas.

Did Google Earth really capture a shot of the Loch Ness Monster?

Google Earth, the virtual map that was originally called the Google Viewer which captures images via satellite imagery and aerial photography seems to have captured the elusive and world famous lake monster “Nessie”.

Earlier this month Jason Cooke, while searching  Google Earth from his home believes in Nottingham,  Scotland to have spied the Loch Ness monster.

Could it simply be a ship?  Or does this legendary monster really exist?

The first reported sighting of the monster dates back 1500 years ago when witnesses claimed that some kind of a beast leaped out of the lake and ate a farmer.   Since then, the obsession to determine if the monster exist has been never-ending.

In 1934, even an MIT professor who spotted and took a photograph of what seemed to be Nessie, put his reputation on the line swearing that the photograph was authentic.  Then, in 1960 – a home video taken by a family enjoying a picnic by the lake captured a strange figure which was later analyzed by British intelligence and concluded that the strange figure is  an “animate object”

Jaycee Lee Dugard – missing girl found alive 18 years later – a miracle

Jaycee Lee Dugard was abducted on June 10, 1991 as her step father watched her being snatched away. She was 11 years old. Full blown searches by volunteers and the authorities stood in vain. Calls by her mother for her return on national TV left unanswered. 18 years later, she was found alive.

Kaycee was abducted by a man named Phillip Garrido ( a convicted rapist) and his wife Nancy. Phillip fathered Kaycee’s children ages 15, and 11 years of age. Kaycee was kept in Antioch, California in a backyard covered with tarp and tents. Kaycee and her two children were not allowed out of the house, have never seen a doctor or gone to school.

Phillip Garrido and Nancy Garrido were arrested for investigation of kidnapping and conspiracy. Phillip is also being held for investigation of rape by force, lewd and lascivious acts and sexual penetration with a minor.

People are asking how a convicted rapist (served time in a Nevada prison) can go on for 18 years with an abducted girl without anyone finding out when he was supposed to be on the watch list. Is this a sign of a failed system?

Could Noynoy Aquino III be the running mate for VP hopeful Kiko Pangilinan?

Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan has voiced out his support should Noynoy Aquino III decide to run for the Presidency in the 2010 Presidential Elections.

According to Inquirer.net, Senator Kiko Pangilinan will support Noynoy Aquino or Governor Padaca of Isabela should they decide to run. All three are members of the Liberal Party who is led by Presidential hopeful, Senator Manuel “Mar” Roxas.

Pangilinan, who is eyeing the vice presidency next year, said he is willing to support the presidential bid of either Aquino or Isabela Governor Grace Padaca “if it will unite a true reformist agenda.”

I believe that even though I haven’t seen much of Noynoy Aquino in the public spotlight providing speeches or even voicing out his platform, it would still be a dream team should Noynoy be the Presidential running mate together with Kiko Pangilinan as Vice President. And if Noynoy is thinking of running – he should come out and bare his soul to the spotlight. People need to see what he has to offer.

Chuva Chienes, as I’ve said before isn’t really fond of meddling with politics. Puro cheezemax lang ang minememorya ni Chuva. But I am still aware of the struggles the Filipino people are going through. Who is going to be the best candidate for the Presidency come elections 2010? Who is really going to effect change in government?

It would require someone with a lot more political knowledge than Chuva to determine who is best and I can only voice out my own opinion at a very high-level. That doesn’t amount to much.

Putting it on the celebrity support for both Noynoy and Kiko – I think the pull is going to be massive given the convincing powers of mega-endorsers Kris Aquino, Sharon Cuneta and Judy Ann Santos. That trio alone can pull the masses together to vote.

The question remains – are they the one who fits the bill to rage war against a corrupt government? What do they have to offer?

I encourage every Filipino to look at the candidates beyond their celebrity status. We need true reform. We need real change.
