ELECTION WATCH: Vilma Santos and Ralph Recto out of Lakas-Kampi-CMD, now supporting Noynoy-Mar tandem
Batangas Governor Vilma Santos and her husband, former Senator Ralph Recto, are no longer supporting Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro, administration party Lakas-Kampi-CMD’s main man for the presidential elections next year.
Instead, the two are the newest members of the Liberal Party, the political party that will carry the Noynoy Aquino-Mar Roxas tandem. Recto, who lost his bid for senator in 2007 when he ran under Lakas-Kampi, is joining LP’s senatorial slate. Gov. Vilma Santos will run for re-election.

The main topic during Bong Revilla’s mini-press conference last Thursday, November 12, was his upcoming film Ang Panday, but the senator did not evade the other issues involving him and his family.
There was the recent breakup of his son Jolo and girlfriend Lovi Poe.
“Siyempre nakakalungkot yun,” Bong said pensively. “Malay natin… Tapos na ba? I don’t know. Di ko pinakikialaman yung mga ganyan. [I] just hope na magkaayos sila.”
Hillary Clinton in Manila – not the same when she uttered the word MILF, LOL!
I was reading the Reuter’s blog today about Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton’s speech in Manila. It was funny because according to the blog, she struggled to utter because of its obscene equivalence in the US and yet spoke the word M.I.L.F (Moro Islamic Liberation Front), although it is not pronounced as a word in the Phillippines but rather by reciting the letters individually.
“I’m encouraged by what I hear about the progress in the peace efforts that are going on between the government and MILF,” Clinton said, pronouncing it like a word — the same way as the acronym for the obscene phrase.
Then she switched and adopted the local usage — saying the letters individually.
If you don’t know what the “obscene” meaning of MILF is – - just look it up. Haha!

Carrie Prejean “Call it a sex video tape if you wish; “Since when free speech not exist (in this country)?”

HYPOCRISY in capital letters. That’s what others are calling Carrie Prejean’s statements in her book, Still Standing. During her interview with Meredith Vieira on the Today Show, she insisted that her sending the “SEX Video tape” to an ex-boyfriend was the biggest mistake she made in her life. She wouldn’t call it a sex tape though and and told Meredith “You can call it a sex tape if you want to” and claimed that it was a private video she sent an ex-boyfriend when she was 17-years old. Then she said:
“It’s unfortunate that conservative women are attacked for their beliefs and it’s unacceptable and it shouldn’t happen… and so many Americans believe that their beliefs are under attack and they should be silenced, and free speech doesn’t exist. Since when does free speech not exist?”
Come on!! Free speech?
Snapshots of the Carrie Prejean photos appeared on TMZ.com wearing skimpy clothing and even appearing in her undies yet said in her book that the body is a temple. Hmmmm…. TMZ.com also reported that Carrie made her ex-boyfriend lie.
I watched her interview on the Today Show and you should have seen her eyes and her reluctance to answer the question why she pulled out her $1M lawsuit against the pageant. She wouldn’t admit to the fact that she pulled out allegedly because of the sex tape.
On another interview with Larry King, she repeatedly said that Larry King was being “inappropriate” when he asked her what her reason is for pulling out of the lawsuit and even threatened to leave the show. Watch the video below:
I think she’s milking every bit of the 15 minutes of fame she got.
Is James Yap jealous about Kris Aquino’s proposed team-up with Robin Padilla?
During the press con of Kris Aquino’s newest endorsement, she admitted that husband James Yap wasn’t too happy about her decision to get additional work in order to raise campaign funds for her brother Noynoy’s 2010 presidential bid. Apart from his worry that doing a soap would take too much of her time away from their kids, it seems that he also didn’t approve of management’s initial choice of leading man for Kris which was Robin Padilla. “Akala niya twice a week [lang ang taping para sa teleserye with Kim Chiu]. Pero nung nalaman niyang three times a week [kapag nagpopondo ng episodes] nagreact siya talaga. Tapos may nabasa siguro sa tabloid prior to that na may Robin pa. But I explained to him na kay Deo (Endrinal, ABS-CBN Business Unit Head) yung produksyon na ‘yan. Do you think pasasamain nila ang itsura ko, na magmumukha akong malandi?’ Siyempre hindi naman,” she revealed.

After he returned from a month-long leave last September 21, Willie Revillame left people guessing as to whether or not he was running for election as Quezon City mayor or vice president, the later in tandem with Senator Manny Villar. It was only on November 10 that he finally gave his official announcement that he will not run for any position in the 2010 elections. Willie said that it will be hard for him to leave Wowowee as it is still his top priority. “Ang hirap kasing magsilbi ng hindi bukal sa loob mo, dapat ready ka na for that. Mata mo lang walang latay diyan eh, kapag politician hindi ka naman pwedeng magpatawa at any day.”

All the celebs in question also agreed to do the video free of charge. “I’m so proud of the fact that Noy’s video has the best of both networks. They dedicated their services to Noy because they believed in him,” she said during the November 3 press conference of her latest endorsement. Kris revealed that there will be a second version of the music video which will feature more stars who support Noynoy’s political campaign.

Newlyweds Korina Sanchez and Senator Mar Roxas flew to Japan on October 28 for their five-day honeymoon. The couple had a grand wedding ceremony last October 27 that was attended by well-known personalities from politics, the entertainment industry, and business.
The senator has been keeping his followers updated about their trip via his Twitter account. He noted the efficiency of the Japanese airline crew who even gifted him and his bride with a small cake and about the fact that he needed to update his documents to reflect his newly married status.

Yup folks, our folksy Sarah Palin will appear on Oprah on November 16th as confirmed by Harpo Productions. It will be the day before Sarah Palin’s book comes out – “Going Rogue: An American Life“.
Sarah Palin became a household name when she was selected to be the VP running mate of then Presidential candidate John McCain. She instantly became a celebrity. She was the subject of many spoof appearances on SNL by Tina Fey. She stepped down as governor of Alaska not too long ago and has been hailed and criticized at the same time for doing so.
Would you be watching Oprah on November 16th just to see how interesting the conversation gets? I’m sure you will be.
ELECTION WATCH: Sen. Kiko Pangilinan asks COMELEC to extend registration period for 2010 elections
The registration for new voters for the 2010 elections is ending on October 31, but Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan is asking the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) to extend it.
According to the lawmaker, who personally spoke to PEP last night, October 16, during the Rock the Vote concert held at B. Gonzales St. corner Katipunan Ave. in Quezon City, many young voters are still planning to register, but may not make it to the deadline.

Ha! Okay, President Barack Obama just won the Nobel Peace Prize. Congratulations. I think it’s way too early to give that out but I guess, a Nobel Peace Laureate knows that more is expected of them… so, this may be just a sign of “Make it a better world Pres. Obama, we are all watching!”
But, in other news…Sarah Palin vs. Levi Johnston. What a fun thing to watch. Sources say that in her upcoming book release in November, Sarah Palin’s “Going Rogue: An American Life” memoir (which is already Amazon’s Best Seller in the Pre-Order category) has chunks and chunks of dirt to dish about the hunky and soon-to-be-playgirl-spread Levi Johnston. She even goes as far as saying the Levi is a “bald-face liar“, “trying to earn a fast buck at the ex-governor’s expense” and simply bitter about the deterioration of his relationship with the daughter of Sarah Palin, Bristol Palin.
Wow! I’m no Republican but I think I’m going to pre-order a copy just for this. I want to know the inside scoop! What’s so seemingly timely about this is Levi Johnston’s acceptance of posing for Playgirl. Ha! I’m sure both publication will get a big boost just because of this mud-slinging bits.
Now, I don’t remember who’s really using who at who’s expense… but both of them are poised to be laughing all the way to the bank after this fiasco.

Edited version ang video ng mahabang diskusyon ni Aga with Cito tungkol sa “deterioration” ng bansa at ang “dumi” at “pangit” na pamamalakad ng gobyerno. Bloggers must disclose product endorsements – FTC
It’s not like we’re not doing it already. If you are writing sponsored posts, you well know that it should be noted that the post is indeed sponsored by an advertiser (or at least, anything to that effect). Just recently the FTC revised a 30-year old guideline about endorsement and testimonials. Celebrity endorsements are not the only ones affected but bloggers as well.
They gave an explicit section about endorsement and disclosure. In particular a product that was given to a blogger (free of charge) and asked to write something about the product.
When there exists a connection between the endorser and the seller of the advertised product that might materially affect the weight or credibility of the endorsement (i.e., the connection is not reasonably expected by the audience), such connection must be fully disclosed.
Here’s the example:
Example 7: A college student who has earned a reputation as a video game expert maintains a personal weblog or “blog” where he posts entries about his gaming experiences. Readers of his blog frequently seek his opinions about video game hardware and software. As it has done in the past, the manufacturer of a newly released video game system sends the student a free copy of the system and asks him to write about it on his blog. He tests the new gaming system and writes a favorable review.
Because his review is disseminated via a form of consumer-generated media in which his
relationship to the advertiser is not inherently obvious, readers are unlikely to know that
he has received the video game system free of charge in exchange for his review of the
product, and given the value of the video game system, this fact likely would materially
affect the credibility they attach to his endorsement. Accordingly, the blogger should
clearly and conspicuously disclose that he received the gaming system free of charge.
I guess if I am given free makeup from MAC Cosmetics, I cannot write about it and not disclose it.. simple as that. I don’t have a problem with that. Or even a MAC laptop will do. Hello Mac and MAC… send it to me… I’ll write about it and disclose that it was given to me for free. Pleaseeeee…

The book cover of Sarah Palin’s Memoir entitled, “Going Rogue” has been unveiled. It was scheduled to be released next spring yet media sources say that former Alaska Governor Palin worked day and night for four months straight (including moving her family to California to be close to her co-writer). The scheduled release has been pushed up to November 17.

Kumalat noong Linggo ng gabi, September 27, sa social networking site na Facebook ang litrato ng isang lalake habang nakatingin siya sa mga bote ng alak sa isang supermarket. Tinukoy ng nag-post ng naturang litrato ang lalake na si presidential son at Pampanga Congressman Mikey Arroyo.
Ito ang titulo na nakalakip sa larawan: “Do you know where Mikey Arroyo was when Ondoy was ravaging the Metro? in Rustan’s buying a brand of alcoholic drink.”
First time ever: Spain’s First Daughters Photographed
It is quite unique. We know that for security purposes, celebrities or high-profile individuals usually shield their children from the media. Michael Jackson’s children were never exposed until after his death. Needless to say, it is for the best interest of the children that this is usually done.
In the case of the Prime Minister of Spain’s children, it was a different story. Prime Minister Jose Luiz Rodriguez Zapatero’s children have been protected by the Spanish media. They were never photographed in public. But when the family was visiting New York to meet with the Obama’s – a photograph taken of the family (including daughter Laura, 16 and Alba, 13) would have been the ultimate family portrait. Imagine a family photo opp with the Obamas? Little did the Prime Minister know that pictures taken are uploaded to the State Department’s Flickr page.
The photos were immediately published in front pages of newspapers in Spain and this was the first time that the girls were seen in photographs. The thing of it is, the girls were dressed in calf-high black boots and what seemed to be labeled as “goth clothing”. The Spanish Prime Minister requested that the photos not be published but it was a little too late.

Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan was one of the earliest politicians to bare to the public his plans for the 2010 elections. He’s also the earliest to announce plans to back out.
Last May, Pangilinan’s wife, Megastar Sharon Cuneta, said in an interview that her husband is seeking a vice-presidential seat. But last Sept. 20, the first senator to win an independent campaign announced in a statement that he’s stepping out of the race to support the campaign of presidential tandem Sen. Noynoy Aquino and Sen. Mar Roxas, his co-members in the Liberal Party. Read more
ELECTION WATCH: Manny Villar’s camp denies offering VP or senatorial slot to Willie Revillame

The Nacionalista Party (NP) has denied reports that it had asked TV host Willie Revillame to be the running mate of its standard-bearer, Senator Manny Villar, for the 2010 elections.
In a press conference held yesterday, September 22, in the Senate, NP spokespersons Gilbert Remulla and Adel Tamano said the party had not even discussed the tandem’s possibility.
Tamano even joked that Willie, who returned on his noontime show Wowowee last Monday, Sept. 21, after more than a month-long absence, could only run in a marathon, and not in a race to the two highest positions in the land.

CCP pays tribute to Imelda Marcos in spite of protests

In spite of protests by party-list Bayan Muna, the Alliance of Concerned Teachers, and other groups, the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) pushed through with its gala event Seven Arts, One Imelda last Friday, September 11.
The program featured nine of the most prominent Filipino singers and musicians, and a montage of the seven arts: music, dance, solo and choral singing, performance art, fashion and oratorio.
The musical extravaganza was staged in honor of the CCP’s founding Chair, Imelda Romualdez Marcos. The former First Lady graced the formal event wearing a red and black dress, with her trademark butterfly sleeves accented by a diamond and ruby necklace.
PEP asked the widow of the late President Ferdinand Marcos how she felt about this tribute.
“Well, I am so happy that after all these years, the CCP is still producing so many great artists that we Filipinos can be proud of,” said Imelda. “This sanctuary that we started to build 44 years ago, and was finished 40 years ago, has become a sanctuary for the Filipino soul, a monument to the Filipino spirit, and has really given life to the spirits of our people. And it is here where the good, true and beautiful has become real. ”
“And so I am very grateful to the artists. I’m very grateful to everybody for making this Cultural Center a sanctuary for the Filipino soul and spirit. Hopefully, what is beautiful in all of us, will also unite us, not only enrich us and give us a great future. I pray and hope that this future is here forever. And I know it will.”

Senator Kiko Pangilinan called on to all civic leaders and asked for unification for the sake of change. He posted a blog entry on his blog – The Indie last Friday, August 28th, 2009 before all of the changes that have occurred within the last 24 hours.

From my visits to various parts of the country I can sense a brewing political upheaval, a massive outpouring of people in their millions–all geared towards the 2010 elections. People want regime change, and they want it through our electoral process. The urgency of building a national consensus for genuine change cannot be underscored enough.
