Kudos to CNN! CNN Suspends Roland Martin For ‘Offensive’ Super Bowl Tweets

GLAAD gave kudos CNN after they took a hard stand on anti-LGBT violence by suspending regular CNN commentator Roland Martin for his offensive tweets during the Super Bowl.

It was announced Wednesday that “Roland will not be appearing on our air for the time being.”

After news of the suspension broke, GLAAD issued a statement of its own.

“CNN today took a strong stand against anti-LGBT violence and language that demeans any community,” GLAAD spokesman Rich Ferraro said. “Yesterday, Martin also spoke out against anti-LGBT violence. We look forward to hearing from CNN and Roland Martin to discuss how we can work together as allies and achieve our common goal of reducing such violence as well as the language that contributes to it.”

We are happy that CNN took the right path in conveying a message of anti-violence and that hatred of any sort is unacceptable.

I didn’t know he can sing! President Obama Sings Al Green’s ‘Let’s Stay Together’ During Fundraiser At Apollo Theater In Harlem (VIDEO)

Some things just catches me by surprise.  One thing that I didn’t know is that President Barack Obama can sing!

During a speaking engagement last night at the Apollo Theater in Harlem, the President sang Rev. Al Green‘s classic, “Let’s Stay Together” which implies – - “hey, vote for me in 2012! AND WE’LL STAY TOGETHER!”

After singing a part of the song, he did look over to the side and said, “those gusy didn’t think I would do it.  I told you I was gonna do it.”

Rev. Al Green was also at the event.  Imagine this, according to Politico – from his New York fundraisers on Thursday alone, he raised $3.1 million.  He’s still got it!  He is a charmer!

Your voice counts!! Newsweek Behold! What the Stop SOPA blackout managed to do…

Breaking news!  FEDS just shutdown file-sharing website Megaupload accusing the site of multiple copyright infringement.  They said that this was not in any way connected to #SOPA and #PIPA.

Yesterday, Google, Wikipedia and other famous sites like Craigslist have joined a blackout to show its position on the bills currently in congress.

If you look at the image above, being compiled by ProPublica, the 24-hour blackout worked.  Those famous sites joining the blackout have encouraged regular readers to contact their local officials and senators and ask them to abandon support for PIPA and SOPA.

That was the effect.  15 dropped their support of the bills and gained 70 opponents.  That’s the power of the internet.  And if we do not act, this power will be taken away from us.

Google has since collected 7 million signatures in protest of #SOPA.  If you haven’t acted yet, now is the time to make that call, to write that letter.  If you need help, follow this LINK.

Not everyone has given up just yet – ROBERT REICH: Get Ready For A Obama-Clinton Presidential Ticket

Would you support an Obama-Clinton ticket in 2012?

Robert Reich from the Business Insider believes that it will be the most powerful ticket next year.  He speculates that if Vice President Joe Biden and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton swapped positions in 2012, it would probably guarantee a sure win for the Democrats.

His points make sense and if you think about it, why not?

But then again, Hillary Clinton has vowed that the Secretary of State position will be the last public position she will hold.  Could that change?  Maybe.

What’s your take?

Manila International Airport is at number 5 of the world’s most hated airports – Ouch! But I agree!

Are we ashamed yet? How much more publicity do wee need regarding how bad our International Airport is until we act on it? Is there really something that’s being done to improve NAIA? I had believed President Noynoy Aquino when he said that Terminal 3 will be fully up and operational as our International Airport by December 2010. That has not happened has it?

Beleaguered by ground crew strikes, unkempt conditions, soup kitchen-style lines that feed into more lines and an overall sense of futility, NAIA brings the term “Stuck in the 1970s” to a new level.

At Terminal 1 all non-Philippine Airlines remain crammed despite serious overcapacity issues and a new and underused Terminal 3 is occupied by a few minor carriers.

A rash of bad press this year (including a “Worst in the World” ribbon from Sleeping in Airports) was capped by a collapsed ceiling in T1, a paralyzing ground service strike at T2, and the usual charges of tampered luggage, filthy restrooms, seat shortages at gates, re-sealed water bottles sold in retail shops and an Amazing Race-style check-in routine spiked with bureaucracy, broken escalators, lengthy Dot Matrix passenger lists and creative airport departure fees.

Libyan Transitional Council confirms that ex-Libyan leader Muhamar Ghadafi is DEAD (VIDEO and PHOTOS)

There were lots of unconfirmed reports about the whereabouts of the ex-Libyan leader, Muhamar Ghadafi.  On Reuters, they say that the ex-leader was captured and wounded and has died after being hit in the head.  However, on MSNBC and CNN, it has been declared that Ghadafi is dead.

I guess if CNN has published it, they must have had some kind of confirmation about the state of Ghadafi.  Story is still developing and although it has been confirmed by the Libyan Transitional Council, there has been no proof  just yet.  The only proof is a cell phone photo showing the deposed leader wounded.  See video below:

A press conference is supposed to occur anytime now.  Will update this post soon.

Who’s third with the most followers on Twitter next to Bieber and Gaga? Obama of course!

With the presidential campaign almost about to come in full swing in the next couple of months, President Barack Obama is not leaving it up to the wind.  He’s on every social network there is.  Facebook, Twitter and everything else.

If he’s not a celebrity, I don’t know what you would call him.  His Twitter account recently reached 10 million followers coming third place after Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga.

Who would you be voting for in 2012?  I hope you’re voting for Barack Obama.  Let’s give him a chance to turn things around.

Michelle Bachmann, Anti-Gay, Libya, Katie Holmes

Will you ever elect a person to the highest office in the land who recently hired someone who is directly linked to Uganda’s effort o make homosexuality a crime, punishable by death?  I know I wouldn’t.  Apparently, Michelle Bachmann is tied to one.  Name?  Peter Waldron.

He preaches that gay people “eat poop” and shows gay pornography in his church to disgust and inflame his followers. He’s no stranger to American evangelicals—Rick Warren has hosted Ssempa many times at his Saddleback Church in Southern California. As MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow has repeatedly demonstrated, Uganda is sort of a playground for right-wing American Christianist politicians, who view it as a laboratory of sorts for theocratic policy initiatives. Sen. James Inhofe is a frequent visitor.

In Case You Missed It: The GOP Debate in 4 minutes (VIDEO)

Listen what these potential presidential candidates have to say and see if you will vote for any of them.

Do you think any of them have what it takes to beat President Barack Obama in 2012?

NBC News: Rick Perry running for president

And the official Presidential race begins.  This may be the one that Republicans are waiting for. Texas Governor Rick Perry should be announcing that he will be running for president soon.

Even my colleagues who are Republicans didn’t really think Michelle Bachman or Tom Pawlenty could win the nomination.  They did say that if Rick Perry joins the race, then it’s the real deal.

Well, now it’s going to happen.

According to MSNBC.com:

A source close to the campaign confirmed to NBC News that Texas Gov. Rick Perry will formally announce his intention to run for president at the Red State Convention in Charleston, S.C.

This is going to be interesting.  Sarah Palin is still flirting with the idea.  I wonder what she will do to Rick Perry if she actually throws her hat in the ring?

#SONA 2011 – President Noynoy Aquino – Full Transcript (English & Tagalog)

His Excellency Benigno S. Aquino III
President of the Philippines
To the Congress of the Philippines

[Delivered at the Session Hall of the House of Representatives, Batasan Pambansa Complex, Quezon City on July 25, 2011]

Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile; Speaker Feliciano Belmonte Jr.; Vice President Jejomar Binay; former Presidents Fidel Valdez Ramos and Joseph Ejercito Estrada; Chief Justice Renato Corona and the honorable Justices of the Supreme Court; honorable members of the diplomatic corps; members of the House of Representatives and the Senate; Local Government Officials; members of our Cabinet; members of the Armed Forces and the Philippine National Police; to my fellow servants of the Filipino people;

And to my beloved countrymen, my Bosses:

I stood before you during my inauguration and promised: we would do away with the use of the wang-wang. This one gesture has become the symbol of change, not just in our streets, but even in our collective attitude.

Over the years, the wang-wang had come to symbolize abuse of authority. It was routinely used by public officials to violate traffic laws, inconveniencing ordinary motorists—as if only the time of the powerful few, and no one else’s, mattered. Instead of behaving like public servants, they acted like kings. This privilege was extended to their cronies and patrons, who moved along the streets as if they were aristocracy, indifferent to those who were forced to give way and were left behind. Abusing privilege despite promising to serve—this is the wang-wang mindset; this is the mindset of entitlement.

They had no right to do this. The law authorizes only the President, the Vice President, the Senate President, the Speaker, the Chief Justice, and police vehicles, fire trucks, and ambulances to use sirens in the fulfillment of their official duties—no one else. Yet the flagrant abuse we bore witness to prompts us to ask: if they felt it their privilege to flout the simplest traffic laws, how could we expect them not to help themselves to a share of projects funded by the Filipino people?

Do you want the corrupt held accountable? So do I. Do you want to see the end of wang-wang, both on the streets and in the sense of entitlement that has led to the abuse that we have lived with for so long? So do I. Do you want to give everyone a fair chance to improve their lot in life? So do I.

First glimpse at Julian Moore as Sarah Palin for HBO’s Game Change

When I first heard that Julian Moore will be playing Sarah Palin on an HBO film entitled Game Change, I tilted my head a bit and said to myself, “She doesn’t really look anything like Sarah Palin.”

But when the first photo was released as a promo for the film, I was actually surprised!  She looks like Sarah Palin almost to a “P” – ha!

That is what I believe Sarah Palin has.  It’s the charisma that no matter how much you dislike her, you want to see anything that she does and how people perceive her.  I’m definitely watching this HBO special.  Definitely.

Rupert Murdoch, CEO of Newscorp International may resign? (VIDEO) Celebrity Pie Attacks…

While watching the news yesterday to find out if Newscorp International’s CEO will resign and let his son take over the company, I got an alert from MSNBC that the questioning of Rupert Murdoch by Parliament went to recess. The troubled CEO of Newscorp International, Rupert Murdoch who was being questioned by Parliament regarding the “hacking scandal” of newspaper “News of the World” was attacked with a plateful of shaving cream during the questioning.    If you look closely at the video, his wife jumped into the scene to hit the attacker.  It caused the parliament to call a recess.

This is not the first time big name celebrities and moguls have been attacked with a pie.  Watch the series of videos below:

I’ve had enough. Michele Bachmann said gays are “part of Satan”? (AUDIO)

I had tried to be silent for a while. I was reading (and watching) people go crazy about the things that Michele Bachmann says or do.

Like when she dodged the question when asked about her husband’s “gay-exorcise-pray-the-gay-away-clinic” when the video surfaced online. She totally ignored the question and that is what she’s good at. She doesn’t answer any question that would put her in a bad light. But then again, how long do you think she can dodge questions. You can’t run for President without answering basic questions that will show your true character.

Then, that “pledge”. OMG! Did you see how Whoopi Goldberg ripped them a new one on the view because of the “pledge”? Many said that they would vote for Whoopi Goldberg should she run for president.

And now, this 2004 lecture audio surfaces when Michelle talks about homosexuality and that it is a “part of Satan”. I lost it. I just have to start doing what great blogs I follow, like Towleroad.com which exposes these types of craziness and blog about them as well.

Remember Christine O’ Donnell? What I hope will happen is that people will see the light about Michele Bachmann like we saw in Christine O’ Donnell – if that happens, I’ll be happy.

Here’s the audio – I still can’t believe she said it – OH, YES I CAN!

Fox News’ Twitter Account Hacked Claiming President Obama had been assasinated.

Call it a prank in poor taste, call it crazy but according to Gawker.com, Fox News’ Twitter account was hacked and tweeted that President Obama had been assasinated.

Tweeted from the account was this tweet:

@BarackObama has just passed. The President is dead. A sad 4th of July, indeed. President Barack Obama is dead.

Fox News acknowledged that their account was hacked and have apologized saying,

“regrets any distress the false tweets may have created”

They still cannot access their account so as of this writing, the tweets are still active.

Yes, I agree – they should have already called Twitter about this.  But have they?

If you’re an undocumented Filipino worker, would Jose Antonio Vargas’ “coming out” be a positive move for you? Take the POLL.

Yes. As a celebrated award-winning journalist, Jose Antonio Vargas felt – as an undocumented individual living in fear in the United States – that enough is enough. He came out to tell the world that he is an undocumented individual in support of the Dream Act, “the proposed federal legislation would provide a path to U.S. citizenship for undocumented immigrant youth, who graduate from high school and enrolling in a college or university, or enlisting for two years of military service.”

Many Filipinos thought that it was unfair for him to have come out like that because they fear that they may now be targeted because it was highlighted that there are Filipinos out there who are hard-working, trying to make ends meet and provide for a family, who are undocumented.

Rep Anthony Weiner has finally resigned. Everyone’s happy now.

In a press conference on Thursday, Rep Anthony Weiner announced his resignation.  This happens just  a week after he confessed that he sent lewd photos to six women and had online and sexting relationships with them.

Nancy Pelosi has asked for an ethics violation against him when more photos surfaced with him half-naked in the congressional gym.  President Barack Obama said in an interview with Today Show‘s Anne Curry said, “If I was him, I would resign.”

Today, that request was granted.   Anthony Weiner did say that his priority from this day forward is to save his marriage to Huma Abedin.

“I make this apology to my neighbors and my constituents, but I make it particularly to my wife Huma. Today I am announcing my resignation from congress so my colleagues can get back to work, my neighbors can choose a new representative, and most importantly, that my wife and I can continue to heal from the damage I have caused.”"

Rep Anthony Weiner is going down fast as new photos emerge. How long can he hold on?

TMZ.com published new photos of the embattled Congressman Anthony Weiner.  If the previous photos didn’t take him down, this surely will.

When he lied about not sending the photos to the woman in Seattle when the news broke out, and then people found out later that he actually sent it himself during a press conference – people were outraged.  Outraged that he lied.

And now, the Weiner’s weiner pic was leaked. (PHOTO)

Alright people… I’m still an Oprah admirer even after the fact that her last show – the farewell show – did not become her top-rating show of all time. All I know was that the speech she gave (the entire show was about what she learned) had some weight to it. I’m a constant tweeter of Oprah quotes. One of the most profound quotes is that from Color Purple.

What you do unto others has already been done unto you.

We have to understand that what we do have consequences. And if you believe that what you’re doing is wrong, something in your inner being must have told you that. Anthony Weiner is not alone in this. There are many of us who do things that we know are wrong but it is exciting to us. Be it behind closed doors or in front of everyone else, what we do or say has weight.

Anthnony Weiner on Lewd Photo: ‘Maybe Started Out Being a Photo of Mine’

When someone hasn’t denied whether the photos sent out by a “hacker” may be his or not, what would you instantly think?  Exactly.  That there are lewd photos floating around out there… right?

Well, Congressman Anthony Weiner (no pun intended – LOL!) claims that his Twitter account was hacked.  But just like the analysis that Gawker.com made, the photo was uploaded on yFrog and a username and password is required to upload photos to yFrog.  CEO Jack Levin of yFrog says that there is no evidence that their system was hacked…

So, with the response that Anthony Weiner gave to Rachel Maddow during an interview that the photo “maybe started out being a photo of mine” created theories out there that there are lewd photos of him out there.. which will probably come up to the surface soon.
