Chuva’s at the Movies – Review: In My Life
Okay, I must tell you that ever since I watched John Lloyd Cruz in One More Chance – I fell in love with him instantly. He’s one of the actors who can make me cry and I don’t mean just tears flowing down my cheeks – - Hagulgol to the maximum level.
I became super excited when I heard about the making of a gay-themed movie called In My Life. Of course, having John Lloyd Cruz in the film was already a plus for me but having the Star for All Seasons, Ms. Vilma Santos is even a better treat.
The DVD has finally come out and I couldn’t wait to get a hold of it. When I finally watched the film last night (with red wine on hand for total immersion!! hahaha!) I was actually impressed. The movie was all that I expected and more.
Remember how I complain all the time when gay-themed movies are produced from the Philippines? It’s always about go-go boys, macho dancers, and prostitutes. That is not all we can show. When Pusong Mamon came out – I was equally impressed because it is a film that showed a different view of what gay life is all about.
I couldn’t believe the “shocker” in the film as well which took me by surprise. I couldn’t tell you because it will be a spoiler if I did. You just have to watch the film.
John Lloyd, Vilma and including Luis Manzano did a wonderful job in portraying their roles. I was mostly in tears during scenes between John Lloyd and Vilma Santos. I did sense a bit of uncomfortable acting between Luis and his mom, Vilma. But their scenes turned okay as well.
The funniest part was Vilma’s trip to Harlem. You’ll understand when you see the film. It’s not for me to tell you.
Overall, I would rate the film and give it a 4 out of 5 stars. Fabulous! And I have never scene a better shot of New York from a Philippine movie. The excellent cinematography must be commended as well. There is no wonder why the movie became such a hit.

Aga Muhlach was taken aback when the press told him that he is Kris Aquino’s choice to play Ninoy Aquino in an autobiographical movie Kris and her family are working on. “Ako? Wow. Siyempre nakakagulat yun, natutuwa ako pero sana lang sana magampanan ko ng mabuti ‘yun. That’s really so nice of her even just to consider me. Thank you. Let’s do it, she’s saying nga na pareho ‘yung experiences namin about sa moms namin and we both know how it feels (losing a parent). Siya bahala. Game ako,” Aga said.
ABS-CBN lights up the ‘Parol ni Bro’
ABS-CBN launched its Christmas campaign Parol ni Bro yesterday, November 4, with a lantern lighting ceremony led by the cast of May Bukas Pa, ABS-CBN president Charo Santos-Concio, and ABS-CBN chairman and CEO Eugenio Lopez III. The network paid tribute to the Filipino values of hope and unity by lighting an 18-foot lantern installed atop ABS-CBN’S offices, the Parol ni Bro, in reference to how the character of Santino calls God in the series May Bukas Pa.
Arnel Pineda flatly denies rumors that he is leaving Journey

All the celebs in question also agreed to do the video free of charge. “I’m so proud of the fact that Noy’s video has the best of both networks. They dedicated their services to Noy because they believed in him,” she said during the November 3 press conference of her latest endorsement. ABS-CBN’s first animated series, ‘Super Inggo at ang Super Tropa,’ premieres in November
Super Inggo was a phenomenal success when it premiered in 2006 that ABS-CBN has decided to bring it back as an animated series, Super Inggo at Super Tropa: The Animated Series. The show is a collaborative project between ABS-CBN TV Production and ABS-CBN Animation Department, the latter led by Guia Jose. Guia was part of the creative team of Optifex International, which worked on animation projects like as The Flinstones, The Jetsons, and Yogi’s Treasure Hunt among others. She trained at the Hanna-Barbera Studios in Burbank in 1987 and at Tokyo Movie Shinsha in Tokyo in 1985 and 1986. The animation team of 100—animators, writers, and staff— work on an episode for about 18 weeks.
Katlin is up for a fiesta
House A heartily welcomes their new housemate, Kätlin; and in line with the said celebration, Big Brother gives them sumptuous Filipino dishes to munch on. After dinner, they all proceeded to the pool area for a rather cozy luau party, which the envious housemates from House B couldn’t help but over hear.Since alcoholic drinks freely flowed all through out their bash, Rob and Marielle ended up getting extremely drunk; and with the two intoxicated housemates getting pretty uncontrollable, some House A housemates couldn’t help but feel a little irritated up until they have all gone to bed to call it a night.

Magaling din ang gumawa ng video, parang yung ABS-CBN’s version of Lupang Hinirang na talagang tagos sa buto ang patriotism. I loved every bit of it.

ABS-CBN Christmas Station ID 2009 Photos
It is sad yet joyful at the same time no? Kapag nakakakita kami ng anything Christmas during this time of year about the Philippines, nakakalungkot na nakakamiss. Iba kasi talaga ang Christmas sa atin sa Pilipinas. When Chuva came to the United States, hindi niya malaman kung anong gagawin niya ng Christmas time. Walang carolers sa labas na may mga tambourine made out of soda caps, or tambol na made out of empty Nido cans with stretched plastic on top only to be secured by rubber bands around it. Nakakapanibago talaga. Ang tahimik ng Christmas namin dito.
Kaya naman kapag nakikita namin ang mga commercials ng mga stations during this time, nalulungkot kami. Kasi nakaka homesick pa rin even after so many years.

Kasalukuyang nasa Singapore ngayon sina Marian Rivera at Dingdong Dantes para sa promotion ng DVD version ng pinagsamahan nilang telefantasya sa GMA-7, ang Dyesebel. Alas-kuwatro kaninang madaling araw, October 30, sila umalis.
Mag-i-stay sila roon hanggang bukas, October 31. Sa November 1 hanggang 2 ay pupunta naman sila sa Malaysia. Magkakaroon din sila ng shows at fans day sa naturang mga bansa. Sa Martes, November 3, na raw ang balik nila sa Pilipinas.

John Lloyd Cruz admits he also likes singing and dancing on stage
John Lloyd Cruz is already excited to go back to Araneta Coliseum and perform in the forthcoming Star Magic World Tour Concert this November 13. The actor said that he is delighted at the chance to show the other side of him, particularly singing and dancing on stage. Lloydy said that he is included in the show’s opening number and he also has a solo production number.
The Big Swap begins: Cathy lands in Finland as Katlin is welcomed inside the PBB House
BB Finland, meet Cathy! At 4 a.m., Sunday, which is around 12:30 nn Manila time, Cathy finally sets foot in Finland. Escorted by none other but PBB’s head honcho, Direk Laurenti Dyogi, she headed to Espoo, the site of Finland’s Big Brother house. She arrived to a near-empty city, Sunday being a holiday of sorts. Cathy breathed in the cool air as she sent her warm greetings from beside the train tracks. Before even stepping inside the Big Brother house, Cathy already had a challenge to face. As fate would have it, all her luggage was accidentally left behind in Bangkok, which meant that she would start her first day with literally just the clothes on her back! How she would deal with this setback, especially with the extreme cold that comes with the winter season, is just one of the things to watch out for.
Mabuhay, Kätlin!
Kätlin is a native of Estonia, but at the age of 16, she took off and settled down in Finland. This was no mean feat, but she considers her move as her biggest achievement to date.It was in Finland that she truly learned the value of independence and appreciation of things. She does not want to miss out on life, standing by her motto to “Live one day at a time”. Kätlin takes this belief further, tending to splurge without setting some money aside. The primary culprit is her love for going on shopping sprees, which wipes out any hope for saving.
Shopping makes her lose track of time, but with other things, she is quite impatient. Her other pet peeves are those who have an inflated ego and who try too much to please others. She values sincerity and openness in others, and resents people who lie just to get people to like them. Kätlin gravitates towards those who, like her, are friendly and outgoing.
Yes, she is ready to take on the world, but her future plans remain quite grounded. She dreams of settling down with her ideal man, have a couple of children, and be financially secure. She describes her ideal guy as someone caring, romantic and understanding. He would also have to be funny, athletic, open and handsome.
This single gal works as a food processing worker in Finland, but chose to grab the opportunity to take part in the Big Brother experience. It didn’t take long for her to agree to the Big Swap, and she was quite enthusiastic in exploring yet another place. Though she admits to missing her loved ones and being active in the outside world, she looks forward to the new experience.
It is precisely this optimism that strengthens her in coping with difficult and unfamiliar situations. One of the biggest hurdles she had to overcome was the language barrier. She candidly shared some embarrassing experiences, such as calling the car shop to complain about her car not getting excited, when she actually meant that it would not accelerate. Despite setbacks, Kätlin strives to see the good side and finds reasons to smile, an asset for her as she heads off to yet another foreign country.
Kätlin has already left Big Brother Finland, and will soon be entering one of the PBB Houses. How will the other housemates relate to her? Will she be able to cope as well as she expected, or will she get a culture shock from her Pinoy housemates? Which housemate will be an ally, and who will be foe? Things are getting more and more exciting, so make sure you don’t miss out on the updates!
