David Archuleta to launch acting debut in the Philippines as Josh Bradley on “Nandito Ako” Mini-Series

American Idol Season 7 Runner-up and a Utah native,  David Archuleta joined TV5 in the Philippines as a “Kapatid” and recorded a TV primetime series entitled, “Nandito Ako” with Jasmine Curtis Smith and Eula Caballero.

I am missing  the press con since I am not based in the Philippines but I am excited for the mini-series.  I just wish I can watch TV5 here in the US.

Anyway, David Archuleta is ready for his prime time acting gig.  From a video blog, he mentioned something about his joining a Philippine TV network saying, “I’m excited about it. … This is a new experience for me.”

The series is set to premiere on February 20th on TV5!  Are you ready folks?  This is definitely a must-see soap.

You must have heard that Coca-Cola recently unveiled its President for Happiness – Caloy. It’s a big title. His role as a happyologist is to make sure that he can bring happiness to ALL Filipinos in celebration of Coca-Cola’s 100th year in the Philippines.

What programs do you think will work to make Filipinos (who are usually happy anyway) happier? It could take a lot of brainstorming and Caloy is already nervous but filled with excitement with his task to implement programs that would make Filipinos happy.

No one can deny that Piolo Pascual is sexy.  Carlos Agassi is also sexy.  Both of them do take care of their physique well and I must admit, I have wished that the rumors about Piolo Pascual being gay would be true.   Carlos Agassi did admit that he had a sexual relationship with a gay man while in his teens which lasted for a year.

These photos have been around since last December and I just wonder how Piolo can pose shirtless with another guy knowing all the rumors about him swirling around.  Doesn’t that give more assumptions from the public’s point of view?

I remember a neighbor I had whose body was so perfect.   He would walk his dog around the neighborhood and he would be shirtless.  My female neighbor would always call me when he was walking his dog and scream, “Chuva!!  Look out your window!”.  What straight guy would do that?

I became very good friends with the guy and he’s really a nice guy.  I did have a thought in my mind that he could be gay and that his”brother” who lives with him was really not his brother.  I never had a chance to find out because they moved out.

Painful but true – - Philippine’s New Tourism Slogan “More Fun in the Philippines” gets bashed continuously. .

When controversies about the previous Philippine tourism slogan of “Pilipinas Kay Ganda” hit the web about being a copycat, rip-off artists and the like… we all had to admit our fault.  Yes, it really did look like a blatant copy of the Polish tourism logo.  You would think, we would learn from it.  But we didn’t.

Millions of pesos are allocated to the creation, design and research for a new tourism slogan.  Yet, the only thing we can come up with is a copy of someone else’s?  This time, it looks like a rip-off from “It’s more fun in Switzerland!” used in the 50s.   Yup, you heard that right.

So, it was just right for Bisean to bash the hell out of our slogan and logo.  Although, I think that with us, adding verbs before the “…….It’s More Fun in the Philippines” is genius.  But, let’s say that it’s something we really didn’t come up with -  and simply copied from Switzerland -  the additional comments became more personal and was not about the slogan and the logos anymore but rather, the people.  Here are some of the comments:

It’s not just about ripping off fellow Filipino, using photographs without his permission or at least a notice…

It’s not just about using other countries’ images trying to get away with it…

It’s not about millions of tax payer’s money used to reasearch (for what?), campaign, broadcast, print. No, it’s not just about that…

… is Filipino culture. “We are better than…”, “Our country is better than….”. Insinuations.

Is there a Siti Nurhaliza video in YouTube not bashed by Filipino critters? Is there a Miss Indonesia video in YouTube not bashed by Filipinos online? Is there a Thai tourism video on YouTube without any comments — “In the Philippines we have this and that…”? Are there anything, in any forum or platform, not bashed by Filipinos?

I love the Philippines. Old friends of this blog knows it very well. And this post… is a reflection that nobody want to see.

Ramgen Revilla and Janelle Mahanan Sex Video Scandal Download

It is appalling to me that someone who recently died will be disrespected in a way that Ramgen Revilla has been treated with the release of the alleged “sex video” of him and then girlfriend Janelle Manahan.   What is more worrisome is that people have been searching the web for it like you would not believe.

When I look at my blog statistics for searches, many users have been led to my blog with searches like “Ramgen Janelle Sex Video Download Link” or”Link to Download Ramgen Revilla and Janelle Manahan Sex Video” or “Youtube Ramgen Revilla Janelle Manahan Naked”.

If you take notice, many blogs which normally are not on the top 10 of TopBlogs.ph, are now on the top 10 with a surge in traffic and that is because of their headlines featuring a download of the video.

It’s a shame – - but I guess that’s how the world rolls.  And no, I don’t have the link and even if I did, out of respect – I will not provide it.

Vice Ganda vs. Ai-Ai delas Alas. The “snubbing” issue raised by many. Who’s telling the truth?

Did any of you see Vice Ganda‘s interview with Boy Abunda on The Buzz last Sunday?

I was still at home sick and I had the show on DVR so I watched it last night. I have always liked Vice Ganda and I believe that he really as a good heart. Boy Abunda’s questions allowed Vice to show his personal side. What was most touching was about Vice’s grandmother Lola Rosita whom the actor/host/performer referred to as “not doing very well” at the time of the interview. (His grandmother passed away on New Year’s Day 2012 – the show was taped days before that).

On the interview, the actor was teary-eyed when spoke the words below:

“Bumulong ako sa kanya, bago ako umalis (abroad) nun. …Ang hiling ko lang ay hintayin mo lang ako kasi may obligasyon pa ako sa ibang tao. Hinintay naman niya ako. Pagdating ko sabi ko sa kanya OK na ako, pwede ka ng umalis. Masyado kasing selfish kung sasabihin ko na huwag ka munang aalis at hindi ko kakayanin eh nakikita ko nahihirapan ang lola ko. Habang nahihirapan siya nauuna akong namamatay sa sakit. Sabi ko, ‘OK na ako Nay, punta ka na sa pupuntahan mo.’ Baka kasi nagwo-worry siya sa akin. Sabi ko kaya ko na ang sarili ko, oras na ito para ituon mo ang atensyon mo sa sarili mo, kung nahihirapan ka anytime you can leave anytime I’m OK. Pero hindi, hindi ko alam kung ano ang pinagkaka-abalahan ng Tagasundo hindi nagpupunta sa bahay namin.”

Vice was also questioned about the “snubbing” issue that happened between him and Ms. Ai-Ai delas Alas. I think that his response was well thought out and delivered properly. He admitted that indeed, Ms. Ai-Ai and Vice are going through something and that is the reason why they didn’t acknowledge each other when they were caught snubbing each other at The Manila Peninsula on Christmas day. When asked about the explosive article written by PhilStar Editor Ricky Lo, he simply responded that we cannot judge people specially if we don’t know exactly what is going on between the people involved. Very true, I must say!

Vice then apologized to his fans and other people who were offended by the report. He also stated that he misses the old days when he wasn’t as famous because when you are catapulted to stardom, you are expected to act in a way that they expect you to act. Any deviation from it results in controversies. When asked which life he would choose if given the chance to choose between his famous persona versus the non-famous Vice? He said he will choose the latter because “back then, life was simpler”.

Wow! I think that’s a very honest response.

I wish both Ai-Ai and Vice can mend their differences and move on…. they’re both highly-talented and I would like to see them both in a movie someday…

Gunshot to the head killed Star Struck hunk Tyron Perez. Suicide suspected, not ruling out foul play just yet.

Tyron Perez , a young and very promising actor was found dead in the backseat inside his car, a Toyota Altis Sedan Thursday night in Valenzuela.  He had a gunshot wound to the head, said to be from a .22 caliber firearm.   The gun was found right beside him and they are suspecting an apparent suicide but officials are still investigating for foul play.

Perez, 26 was a contestant from the reality talent show StartStruck 1 back in 2003.  He landed a role on “Mula sa Puso” and was recently in a very popular drama show “MMK (Maala-ala Mo Kaya)” which aired on December 3rd.  He also landed the lead role for a 2006 film, Twilight Dancers.

Police said that a friend of Perez, Alvin Salazar had mentioned to his wife earlier that day that he may be committing suicide but nothing out of the ordinary was observed from the actor’s demeanor during his last few days.  The actor’s apparent suicide may have been related to gambling debts according to Salazar.    They said that Perez was even forced to sell his wife’s car to pay off gambling debts.

His friends and batchmates from the reality talent show like Mark Herras, Jennylyn Mercado, Yasmien Kurdi, Cristine Reyes, Dion Ignacio, Nadine Samonte and Rainer Castillo were shocked when they heard the news of his passing.

Another StarStruck discovery, Marky Cielo died in December of 2008.  He is also the second actor with the family name of Perez who passed away this year, with AJ Perez‘s passing involving a car crash.

RIP Star Struck Alum Tyron Perez Found Dead in an abandoned car

Social micronetworking site Twitter was buzzing about an hour ago when @mjfelipe announced that an alumnus from reality show StarStruck, Tyron Perez was found dead in an abandoned car in Valenzuela.  Reports though unconfirmed,  say that it is an apparent suicide.

The model actor took a lead role in the film Twilight Dancers back in 2006.  He also had roles in several television shows including “Maala-ala Mo Kaya”, “Mula sa Puso” and many others since 2003.

Kristine Hermosa gave birth to a bouncing baby girl on Monday, December 26th.

Kristine announced two months ago on her FB account that they were expecting a baby girl and sure enough, Ondrea Bliss was born.

“Ondrea Bliss was born yesterday, December 26 through normal delivery at 11:49 p.m. Her weight is 2680 gm. Tin is okay and still recovering. She was brought to the hospital around 6 p.m. yesterday,” said the baby’s father, Oyo Sotto.

Oyo Sotto quickly shared the first photo of their baby via instagram showing the baby’s feet and name tags bearing the name of the baby’s parents.

In an interview with “The Buzz” last November, Hermosa said Ondrea means “strong and courageous” while Bliss means “unmeasurable joy.”  The couple also has a 3-year old adopted son named Quiel.

MMFF 2011 Blockbusters – Enteng ng Ina Mo on the lead with P32.8 M

Join two past blockbuster films in one and what do you get?  Another blockbuster film!

Enteng ng Ina Mo took the lead among the MMFF 2011 entries in ticket sales.    Starring Vic Sotto and Ai-Ai de las Alas, the two blockbuster stars have joined forces to create a movie that was sure to capture the box office ratings this time around.  It’s a family-oriented film and therefore, it was a sure win.  The film took in PHP32.8 M

Following Enteng ng Ina Mo was Ang Panday 2, starring Bong Revilla and Marian Rivera earning a whopping PHP20 M.

Kris Aquino and Dingdong Dantes stars on the horror film, Segunda Mano which took the third place with PHP 18.25 M with comedy My Househusband starring Eugene Domingo taking a close fourth place with PHP 17.33 M.

Not bad for the Philippine movie industry.  It proves that Filipinos still patronize their own and have kept MMFF season at the top of the movie-earnings game year-after-year.

Ruffa Guttierez is being blamed for the rumor that MVP is buying GMA-7 Network

Could this be the start of a never-ending war between Networks?  Is TV5 Owner, Pangilinan really offering to buy GMA-7 Network for P500 billion?

The rumor got started when one of TV5′s talent, Ruffa Gutierrez tweeted this:

“Guess what MVP is buying next?? Found out last week through a little birdy but the few people I told didn’t believe me. Now its CONFIRMEDDD.”

Followers of the actress on Twitter soon assumed that MVP is negotiating with GMA-7 to acquire the network.  GMA-7 or the Kapuso Network is the biggest rival of ABS-CBN.  With talents jumping ship from ABS-CBN to TV5 and GMA-7, the playing field has become very competitive.

Once the rumor mill started, the actress/host was quick to deny that she started anything saying,

“READ my tweet again. I never confirmed what MVP is buying! Kaya sa mga assuming, don’t put words in my mouth. Yes and that includes you!”

Not being content that she made herself clear, she followed up with another tweet saying,

“The possibilities of MVP’s buying power is endless. At this point, his next investment could be ANYTHING.”

Now, what could it be that has been CONFIRMED that Ruffa was speaking of?  Whatelse could there be?  An island?  A country?  What is MVP buying?

Anyway, GMA-7 execs denied the rumor saying:

“There is no truth to the rumor going around in social media sites and the internet that Mr. Manny Pangilinan has bought GMA Network.

“In fact, there is no negotiation going on between GMA and Mr. Pangilinan regarding the latter’s acquisition of GMA-7.”

“Pangilinan declines to comment on GMA speculation, saying he’s on ‘half vacation mode.’

“Official statement to come in due course.”

Hmmm.  Something is fishy.  I’m sure that where there’s smoke, there’s fire.  So, come on Ruffa – - fess up.  You must know something.

SECOND VIDEO OF RHIAN RAMOS AND DJ MO TWISTER SCANDAL ( KISSING VIDEO) ON YOUTUBE, A FAKE

Yes, there is a second video. And yes, it leaked out and has been published. Is that what you’re looking for? Well, look no further – and may I say, don’t watch it on Youtube – since the one uploaded by a certain NaiderKynzspearzVEVO is not an authentic video but rather, a fake video designed to scare you. It’s filled with ads and by the time you remove all the ads, you will be greeted by a screaming scary looking girl.

However, the second video released after the abortion video scandal of DJ Mo Twister and Rhian Ramos is making rounds elsewhere. The release of the video has been denied by the accused himself, MO Twister.

He stated:

This latest video was not one in my possession. It was not recorded on my laptop.

He also included this statement on his Tumblr accoung:

I hope I can be as clear as possible that this is not my doing. This latest video was not one in my possession. It was not recorded on my laptop.

Now, would you believe his statements? If he didn’t have this video uploaded in his laptop, who would have recorded the video and whose laptop was it on? Can you tell that he’s looking at the camera? Therefore, he had something to do with the recording of the video. And if he did record the video, where did he store it?

More questions remain as this scandal doesn’t seem to want to die down.

A nice Christmas gift to all Filipinos: A Visayan may soon be proclaimed a saint. Pedro Calungsod.

A decree had been proclaimed by the current Pope Benedict XVI that a miracle may be attributed to an existing Filipino Martyr, Blessed Pedro Calungsod.  A step closer to declaring him a saint.

The late Pope John Paul II declared Pedro a martyr back in 2000.

According to Sun Star,

“Yesterday (Tuesday), the Pope promulgated that there was a miracle, there was divine intervention or that a divine sign or something supernatural that would indeed confirm that Calungsod is a saint, that he is in heaven,” Leyson said.

Leyson, the postulator for the cause of canonization of Blessed Pedro Calungsod, said the next step after the promulgation of the decree would be the votation among the cardinals.

“All the cardinals would be sent a copy of the biography of Blessed Pedro Calungsod. (A letter) informing them there is a Blessed to be canonized by the Pope,” he said.

He added that after the cardinals have been informed formally and say whether they agree or are “of one mind”, then the Vatican Secretary of State will assign the date of actual proclamation of the canonization.

Cardinal Vidal said after the announcement of the decree by Vatican, the letters are most likely already being sent to all cardinals. But he has not received any kind of correspondence yet.

The Vatican News Service announced on Monday evening that aside from Calungsod, Filipino lay catechist and martyr (1654-1672), there are six other candidates for canonization.

These are: Italian priest Blessed Giovanni Battista Piamarta, French martyr and Jesuit priest Blessed Jacques Berthieu, Spanish foundress of the Conceptionist Missionary Sisters of Teaching Blessed Maria del Carmen and American Blessed Maria Anna Cope, nee Barbara, German religious of the Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis.

He would be our second Filipino saint, following our very first – St. Lorenzo Ruiz of Manila.

At this point, it’s become a matter of he-said-she-said between Rhian Ramos and DJ Mo Twister.

Since the scandal broke out, who among these two celebrities would you believe the most?  From the looks of it, most people do not believe Mo Twister’s claim that Rhian Ramos had an abortion in Singapore like the “alleged leaked video” claimed.

Rhian Ramos responded (without referring to the alleged abortion) that DJ Mo Twister threatened her and tried to destroy her.

Rhian Ramos finally speaks out. Her camp intends to pursue charges against Mo Twister (Mohan Gumatay) (VIDEO)

After days of silence, Rhian Ramos finally spoke out about the scandal that shocked the country.

An interview with Rhian Ramos on December 5, with 24 Oras ng GMA-7, Rhian had this to say:

“I think more than what the people has seen, I have been hurt over a longer period of time, unnecessarily, and I think, undeserved.  I just hope to be able to put an end to that today so that hopefully I can move on.”

Meanwhile, her lawyer also stated that they intend to pursue filing charges against DJ Mo Twiste regarding MO’s violation of the Republic Act 9262 (Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004:

“It will be answered in due course,”, Atty. Kapunan said.  “The court will determine if it will issue a permanent protection order.”, she added. “This is not normal behavior; it is dysfunctional behavior.”

“This has nothing to do with truth or lies, no?

“That is not what the protection order is about.

“What this is all about is harassment.

“He is harassing Rhian.

“Mo is harassing for all these utterances in public.”

Meanwhile, GMA7 attempted to get a response from Mo Twister’s camp but to no avail.

Many forums and blogs have been implying that Mo Twister’s accusations of Rhian are simply not true and that he may have done this simply to derail Rhian’s career.  One commenter even went as far as stating that her research found that you cannot get an abortion in Singapore if you are not a resident or that you would have to have lived in Singapore for at least 4 months or so to avail of those services.  However, there were no links provided therefore, I cannot know for certain if that research is true.

If that is the case, then Mo Twister would have to face libel charges if found guilty.

This time, the sympathy is not on him.  Everyone feels bad for Rhian Ramos who had no say in the matter.  DJ Mo Twister started tweeting about an implied abortion weeks before the video came out.  Apparently, he has now left the Philippines headed to New York.    Charges may be filed against him.

Mo Twister “I will never, ever agree to take the life of a child again. ” (VIDEO)

 

 

This is a very personal thing and for a personal video to get out and go viral is enough to drive someone to do the wrong thing.  I hope that DJ Mo Twister and Rhian Ramos will be strong enough to ride this wave of controversy.

DJ Mo stated that the video was a “repaired” file from his computer that he sold (part of selling all his belongings prior to leaving the country).  However, like what all techies say – - no file is really ever deleted.  Once you’ve recorded it in your computer or uploaded somewhere – - there’s a chance that it will be retained forever.

Mo Twister has decided to leave his showbiz career and leave for New York. He promised that he was going to reveal something after he leaves the country. However, he hasn’t left yet and is scheduled to leave on December 3rd.

A video was uploaded by “PrettyJenny55″ on Youtube showing MO recording details about what happened to him and his then-girlfriend, Rhian Ramos while in Singapore.

“This business has made her believe that we have to take the life of our own child because no one will forgive her for this. That this job will ruin her. So we agreed that we’d come here and get it done.”

Now, the video is causing uproar. I don’t know why PEP.ph called the video VIRAL because it has only received 353 views as of this writing. Ha!

Here’s the transcript and watch the full video below:

“It’s 28th of July 2010, first time I’m doing this.

“I don’t even know why.

“Um, maybe one day you’ll watch this just to remember how horrible of a day it is.

“You’re in Singapore, you’ve been crying all evening because, tomorrow morning, you and Rhian will go to the hospital here and get rid of our baby.

“It doesn’t matter naman what I think about it because this was her choice.

“I don’t know how long you’ll keep this as a souvenir, but this is a test.”
“This is wrong.

“This is the hardest thing…This is the hardest thing you’ve gone through before and you’ve gone through so much.

“And we have to blame our jobs for this?

“This industry that judges you for these things.

“This business has made her [Rhian] believe that we have to take the life of our own child because no one will forgive her for this.

“That this job will ruin her.

“So we agreed that we’d come here and get it done.

“Because you love her and you just want her to be okay.

“It’s not like Rhian is having an easy time with this, too.

“It’s hard on all of us.

“She said one day we will see this again.

“And maybe our jobs will be a little bit easier and more accepting about it.

“One day you’ll look at this video, 20 years from now.

“I don’t even know if you will still be together and it will still hurt.

“It will still hurt like hell.

“You’ll be sorry for this your whole life.

“I’ll be sorry for this my whole life.

“I’m sorry for the bad choice we are about to make.

“It’s hard for both of us.
“Nobody wants to do this.

“I know other celebrities have been able to succeed after this problem, if it is even a problem.

“I don’t know if it’s a problem.

“But you know, her parents are tough on her.

“Her station, her channel, her manager is so tough on her that it has made her feel that having this baby is just [not an] option.

“I know Rhian is young.

“Maybe one day when she is older, that we won’t have to go through this.

“I don’t blame her.

“The pressure on her is great.

“That I know she feels like she has no choice.

“So this is not your fault Rhian. It’s not.

“I know how hard it is to be you in here, in this situation.

“It’s July 28, 2010, and I’m still sitting inside the hotel—the Ritz Carlton in Singapore.

“And we’ve been fighting all night about this.

“I’m doing my best to try to keep you safe.

“And all this fighting is taking a toll on us.

“I wish we could have this child.

“I don’t want to do this.

“This job is so difficult. It’s so difficult.

“I’m sorry.

Gabby Concepcion speaks on KC-Piolo split

 

 

Chuva Chienes:  This is just me talking.  I believe that this experience will help KC become a fine actress.  I remember when Sharon Cuneta started in the movie screen.  She was the “cutesy-cutesy” girl with the “super-kilig-love-team” and that’s the reason why her movies with Gabby Concepcion were so successful.  But later on, when Gabby left her and she felt the pains of life, she started to feel the emotions we all feel.  She began to incorporate those feelings into her acting and she became a “grand slam award-winning actress”!~

Same with KC Concepcion.  One thing that will benefit her from this experience is the ability to feel emotions that she can use in her acting roles.  Just watch.  You’ll see.
