The Wedding and the wonders of GPS Tracking
I went to my niece’s wedding back in December. They are a young couple so they really wanted to have a grand wedding but not spend a lot of cash. They booked the reception at this out-of-nowhere site in Central New Jersey and the Church was foty-five minutes away. Could you imagine the trip that the guests had to jump through to get from one place to another? And to top it off, the discounted hotel was located thirty minutes from the reception hall! After the wedding, we went to the reception hall and the groom and the bride were an hour late! We didn’t know where they were. It would have been great if the limousine service offered a GPS Tracking device option that would have let us know where they were.
I remember when I got to the reception hall, many people were so agravated because they didn’t have GPS Tracking to start wit. And with the distances and locations of the places in this tiny little remote town in New Jersey and hungry passengers in the car, it was enough to cause havoc.
And when the groom and the bride didn’t show up – we were wondering where they were and the limousine service couldn’t tell us. I know that GPS tracking devices are used in delivery trucks so you can tell exactly where you package is. Wouldn’t it have been great if limousine services offered the same thing?
When the groom and the bride finally showed up, everyone cheered. Apparently, they got lost too! Hahaha! It was an experience in itself. At least it happened only during the reception. I wonder if it happened before the wedding and the bride didn’t show up until an hour later…that would have been crazy!
I just wished the available technology was used more wisely – - one would think. An unforgettable wedding indeed.
Get more value out of your Tweets…
Don’t know about you – - but making money online is one of my goals when I started blogging. 2007 was a great year for me. 2008, not so much because of the economic downturn. Advertisers stopped paying top dollars and paid posts wasn’t as lucrative as it was before.
If you log into any of the paid posts companies, you will find offers that are laughable at times. I mean, $.50 cents for 300 words. Come on? Will you write a post about a product for fifty cents with 300 words? There was a time that I did it – - until… Sponsored Tweets came.
I have constantly been receiving offers from Sponsored Tweets and you write 140 characters or less and earn $1.13. Take a look at the snapshot above… those are money earned using Sponsored Tweets. There are a few rules before you can join but it’s fairly simple.
Your Twitter account must be at least 60 days old, have at least 100 followers and 100 status updates to be visible in searches to advertisers. However, advertisers can still explicitly make you offers.

What are you waiting for? Click on the icon above and sign up!

How would you like to take a ride from London to New York City for 37 hours? If you take that trip by plane today, you can be in either side within 7 hours tops. But just because it is faster, doesn’t mean it’s the most comfortable right? Would you travel 37 hours if you are pampered in luxury during the trip?
It’s called an AIRSHIP – it’s like a cruise but on Air – - Aircruise – with a combination of solar power and primary hydrogen drive, you can cruise up to 90 mph. And with more demand for greener means of transportation, it is pollution-free!

The Kindle-killer – - the iPad to be released in April 2010
Apple launched the highly-anticipated unveiling of their latest product – the iPad. It’s like an iTouch on steroids! The iPad goes on sale in the U.S. in March or April 2010 for prices ranging from $499 to $829 US. According to Steve Jobs, the iPad may become available to other countries other than the US by June or July 2010.
Many have speculated and when leaks of a possible Apple tablet product to be released in the market, the buzz started going. The buzz continued and it created positive marketing towards Apple’s new product which could handle 1400 applications (will handle all of current iPhone applications) and additional applications designed for the iPad.
Now the question is, will it kill the Amazon Kindle? Probably so. With the launch of iBooks, iBook readers may now be able to download digital books . A keyboard appears right on the tablet and may be used for convenience or you may purchase a detachable keyboard that is sold separately.
Twitter and Facebook were bombarded with comments today minutes after the unveiling. Some like it and some do not. What do you think?
Would you pay $499.00 for an iPad?

Apple tablet enthusiasts – - mark your calendars. The Apple Tablet is said to be unveiled on Wednesday next week, January 27th. iSlate is the rumored name for this new gadget (Apple has owned the domain of islate.com since 2007) that would be competing with regular laptops.
According to WSJ, the price will be around $1000.00 USD. Kinda expensive don’t you think? But they do say that consumers may want it just because.
An invitation only event will be held at:
Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Theater in San Francisco on January 27 — a Wednesday.
“Come see our latest creation.”
Google Announcement: Nexus One Webcast – Is it an iPhone Killer

Everyone wants to find out more about the Nexus One phone, once the Google announcement of the Nexus One Webcast was mentioned, it had everyone scrambling to the Google webcast and Google web store.
The Google Android Nexus One press conference was held on Tuesday morning at the Googleplex in California. I don’t know if I would go with The Nexus One, even though they say that it has an outside designed by HTC and an inside designed by Google. Dubbed as the “super phone” where the web meets cell phone, they said that:
“It’s an exemplar of what mobile phones can do with Android.”
“Nexus One is slim, lightweight with offerings such as a 1Ghz Snapdragon processor, a GPS with Google maps, WiFi, Facebook access, a compass, stereo Bluetooth and more.
The phone is available exclusively at Google web store.
United States customers can purchase it unlocked and without service for $529. Since I have a T-Mobile service – with a new contract, the unlocked Nexus One will cost me $179.
Not sure if it compares enough to an iPhone and I’m not even very fond of the iPhone since I am a Blackberry user. You can check out the video and decide for yourself:
Clever Google Doodle with falling apple to celebrate Isaac Newton’s birthday

Gotta love Google! They raise awareness on things that normally would have been a great fact for us to remember but forget. Today’s Google doodle shows an apple tree branch and then one of the apple falls. Why, because today, January 4th is Isaac Newton’s birthday.
Here are some facts about Isaac Newton (for you people who were absent from class when it was taught! Ha!).
Sir Isaac Newton FRS (4 January 1643 – 31 March 1727 [OS: 25 December 1642 – 20 March 1727]) was an English physicist, mathematician, astronomer, natural philosopher, alchemist, and theologian who is perceived and considered by a substantial number of scholars and the general public as one of the most influential scientists in history. His 1687 publication of the Philosophiæ Naturalis Principia Mathematica (usually called the Principia) is considered to be among the most influential books in the history of science, laying the groundwork for most of classical mechanics. In this work, Newton described universal gravitation and the three laws of motion which dominated the scientific view of the physical universe for the next three centuries. Newton showed that the motions of objects on Earth and of celestial bodies are governed by the same set of natural laws by demonstrating the consistency between Kepler’s laws of planetary motion and his theory of gravitation, thus removing the last doubts about heliocentrism and advancing the scientific revolution.
Newton also built the first practical reflecting telescope and developed a theory of colour based on the observation that a prism decomposes white light into the many colours that form the visible spectrum. He also formulated an empirical law of cooling and studied the speed of sound.
In mathematics, Newton shares the credit with Gottfried Leibniz for the development of the differential and integral calculus. He also demonstrated the generalised binomial theorem, developed the so-called “Newton’s method” for approximating the zeroes of a function, and contributed to the study of power series.
Newton remains influential to scientists, as demonstrated by a 2005 survey of members of Britain’s Royal Society (formerly headed by Newton) asking who had the greater effect on the history of science, Newton or Albert Einstein. Royal Society scientists deemed Newton to have made the greater overall contribution. In 1999, leading physicists from all over the world voted Einstein “greatest physicist ever;” Newton was the runner-up.
Newton was also highly religious, though an unorthodox Christian, writing more on Biblical hermeneutics and occult studies than the natural science for which he is remembered today.
So why the apple?

Global Blackberry Outage December 22 BBM
There has been out outrage on Twitter today – most Blackberry users twitted the Blackberry outage today, which left people scratching their heads as to why their tweets from their BB or communication through their BBM wasn’t going through.
According to T-Mobile and Sprint BB users, calling T-Mobile only gave them a response that there has been a global outage and that there is no specific time given when it will be back up.
As you know, Chuva uses her Blackberry more than she goes to the gym…
Haayyyy… hopefully it will be back soon.
Spokeo – Big Brother or Invasion of Privacy??
We all know it. There is no such thing as a private matter anymore. With quick access to information on the internet, you can find almost anything. What is so scary is how easy it is.
I’ve talked about online reputation before. I have a friend who passed his resume on to me so I could submit it to my HR department for consideration. While I was reading his resume, I noticed that he was using the same email address (personal) which is not totally professional. Let’s say, his email address was iloveguys@hotmail.com (it’s not it, but I thought I would use a glaring example). That was what was on his resume.
My new phone – the new Nexus One Phone by Google
I am a Blackberry user. I love my Blackberry and even though I’m in the semi-tech field, I didn’t cross-over to the iPhone craze. But I think that there is only one thing that could make me switch from a Blackberry to another PDA… it’s the new Nexus One Phone by Google.
The device is currently being tried out by Google staff and one that is probably going to be a main competitor for the iPhone – - and guess what, it will be unlocked and will not be sold with a contract like other phones (iPhones are sold exclusively through AT&T). At least that is how it was pitched before.
Now, according to Infosync,
“FCC’s database today revealed that the HTC Nexus One, the smartphone Google Mobile currently uses for internal development of upcoming mobile features and capabilities, only sends and receives 3G data at 1700 MHz. In other words, the U.S. version of the HTC Nexus One is going to T-Mobile USA, and T-Mobile USA only.” It’ll join, or possibly replace, the myTouch 3G all-touch phone in the coming months.
I am with T-Mobile now… it looks like I’m going to be with T-Mobile indefinitely…. the anticipated release of the Google Phone or Nexus Phone that runs on Android is 2010… I can wait… I’m still fine with my Blackberry for now. It all depends if the technology changes… otherwise, I will probably move over to Blackberry Bold.
Everyone’s going nuts about Black Friday!
Reports regarding retail sales haven’t been all that great. Merchants are definitely capitalizing on the upcoming Black Friday 2009. They have not only put up sales for Black Friday but other merchants are calling it the Black Weekend which would include Black Friday all the way through Cyber Monday as online retailers are putting up sales all through the weekend.
The most amazing thing is that Amazon.com is doing a Black Week – - where Black Friday deals will be effective for one whole week if you can believe that.
Here are deals published on Fox News:
Cheap laptops: Wal-Mart is coming out with a laptop that’s incredibly affordable, at just $198. “A sub-200 dollar price … puts it in the consideration set for a lot of people,” says Willis.
Cheap Apple gear: The iPod-manufacturing technology giant has already sent Black Friday teasers to customers, advertising a “special Apple one-day shopping event” scheduled for November 27th. The circular doesn’t list specific deals, but Apple hints at better than ordinary prices. If you’ve been hankering for a new MacBook, the prices may not get any better.
Bing’s New Commercial – - Bloody Good!

What’s with our fascination with vampires ay? True Blood, New Moon, Vampire Diaries… what is it? Is it the fangs? Is it the mystery? Or simply, is it the homoerotic nature of vampires? I don’t know but Bing has a new commercial and it’s really good! They knew what market to target.. and that’s the young.

Why is today’s Google Doodle showing a barcode?
It’s always interesting how Google gets people to wonder what the heck their doodle displays. It makes people think. I thought that it may have something to do with the anniversary of the barcode or something because they have done that in the past. Just like the time when they mispelled google with a double “ll” because it was Google’s 11th birthday.
Well, today’s explanation is this. After a little research on the barcode, it shows that it is the barcode’s 57th year since it was officially patented back in October 7, 1952. And if you scan the barcode that Google presents on their page, they said that it reads GOOGLE or gOOGLE. Some comments even say that it reads googleg with an extra “g” in the end.
Regardless, it’s a clever way to get people’s attention. It got mine.

Why is Google spelled Googlle today?

You must be wondering why the Google homepage has the word Google spelled incorrectly having two “L”s instead of one. Well well! It’s Google’s 11th birthday! Yes! Get it?

The Gaydar Experiment on Facebook – Are you revealing too much?

I read that two MIT students ran an experiment using social media giant, FACEBOOK to determine if and whether a person is gay by using a formula to look at your affiliation, friends, religion blah blah blah and it could actually provide details that would likely say whether you’re gay or not?! Huh!!!
To a degree, I would agree. Just by looking at your associations on FB, no matter how you hide your true identity, one can pretty much guess whether you have the sling or the swing! I, for one could tell you that after comments left by my gay friends on my photos – I can assure you that no one in the world still think that I’m straight unless they are in super dooper denial (my eldest sister) and think that I’m still a good match for the nurse that she knows from the hospital where she works.
But affiliation to groups and religion? Maybe. I mean, most of the gays I know are Democrats and if 80 per cent of their friends are men… yeah… no-brainer there. But I do have gay Republican friends as well.
Hmmmm.. If you want to find out more, read the article here.

iPhone users beware: Exploding iPhone

The second incident of an “Exploding iPhone” happened in France hurting a French Security guard when pieces of glass flew when his iPhone exploded.
Speculations link the exploding iPhones to overheating lithium batteries. One other incident involving French teenager earlier this month was reported.
It was reported before that the amount of iPhone explosions should be cause for alarm but Apple, the company that makes the iPhone assured users that these are “isolated incidents”.

To the Facebook Users who befriend co-workers – watch what you Tweet!
Alright peeps – there is very little wonder how this person got fired from her job. Lesson learned: Don’t befriend your co-workers in social media applications. Sometimes when we get absolutely frustrated, we don’t think twice in expressing our emotion or anger towards someone. It’s well and good to vent but not on social media applications – most specially if you’re profile is related to co-workers. It’s merely a death sentence.
Unless you want your co-workers to find out what you do outside of work, don’t befriend them. If you do, be careful of what you say.
It is hilarious now but I’m not sure if it wasn’t hilarious to either the boss or the employee on the above-captured FB Tweet.
Shopping for a Flatscreen TV? Best Buy offers 52″ Samsung Flatscreen for $9.99 through their website

Got your attention didn’t I? Ha! This was simply an erroneous mistake on the pricing from Best Buy’s website and people were shocked to find that the Samsung52″ LCD/HD TV is for sale for $9.99.
Technically, the rule of thumb is that if you walk into a store and something is not priced properly – you as the consumer get to take the goods at the low price tag and the management would have to adhere to it since it was their error.
It’s kinda different online. They can put disclaimers that would say “pricing may change at any time” or “prices may be revoked” – - Wouldn’t it be a kicker if websites worked the same way as brick and mortar stores? That would be the deal of the year!!
Would you dance the “Wedding Thriller” at your wedding? :)
Viral Videos – they are here to stay. In case you didn’t see last week’s viral video called the Wedding Entrance, you should go check it out – - Youtube.com – Search “Wedding Entrance“.
This one is pretty good… what do you think?
Google’s New App called Google Moon – Apt for Man on the Moon’s 40th Anniversary

Google released a new application called “Google Moon”. It’s similar to Google Earth where one can view the moon in a different light. You can visit locations where each of the Appollo Programs (six in total from 1963 – 1972) landed. It is very educational and very cool as well.
You can also view pictures of each landing with different views of each shot as taken by the astronauts. Read historical facts about the trips and more. Super uber cool! When you get a chance, check out Google Sky as well.
Watch out BIG CORPORATIONS – Social Media is power!

Here’s a viral video posted by a band with a song about United Airlines when they damaged his guitar from one of their trips. After many attempts to contact the airline, United has repeatedly refused to compensate him.
The band thought about a clever idea! Use “social media” giant Youtube, to show the world that Corporations cannot ignore us little people anymore. The video has gone viral and have received over 2,000,000 views – approaching 3,000,000 with over 14,000 comments and 22,000 ratings.
The story has been picked up by huge TV networks like NPR, CNN and CBS.
Here’s the VIDEO:
It caught United Airlines’ attention and have posted a tweet stating, “”This has struck a chord w/us and we’ve contacted him directly to make it right.”
That’s right folks – - Dave Carroll knows how to take full advantage of the power of social media.
The band is no longer anonymous. Way to go Dave Carroll!
Rentometer sucks. It’s so slow.
One of the Google Trends in “Volcanic” status today is Rentometer. It’s a website where you can enter the location of your apartment (if you’re a tenant or a landlord) and based on the address and number of rooms in the apartment, Rentometer.com would analyze if you’re getting hosed or paying just right on your property.
Well, I just tried the site and the site is superslow. Maybe because of the people trying to access the site right now but it shouldn’t take more than a minute to analyze and provide you a result if you want the site to gain traffic.
I didn’t find it useful. It has now been more than 10 minutes and I still don’t have a result. I better just go back to work then, instead of waiting.
Not a good site in my opinion.
Wait – I got something back…

A collector pays $17,500 dollars for a video game

JJ Hendricks, a video game collector just paid an insane $17,500 for an NES game from 1990.
It is said that there were only 26 of these were produced for a Nintendo-sponsored gaming contest. It’s a gold-colored, super-rare according to JJ. He even calls it the “Holy Grail” for video game collectors.
The game only lasts approximately 6 minutes and 21 seconds. It contains the three popular Nintendo games namely Super Mario Bros., Rad Racer and TETRIS. The player will have to perform ultra-efficiently and scores are tallied after the time has expired.
The game was originally listed on eBay for $25,000. JJ Hendricks actually got it for cheap. Ha!
