UNCONSTITUTIONAL: Court rules on California’s PROP 8 – Ban on Gay Marriage (VIDEO)

Posted by  on February 7, 2012 · Leave a Comment

“Proposition 8 serves no purpose, and has no effect, other than to lessen the status and human dignity of gays and lesbians in California, and to officially reclassify their relationships and families as inferior to those of opposite-sex couples,” said Judge Stephen Reinhardt in the majority opinion. “The Constitution simply does not allow for ‘laws of this sort’.”

“Although the Constitution permits communities to enact most laws they believe to be desirable, it requires that there be at least a legitimate reason for the passage of a law that treats different classes of people differently. There was no such reason that Proposition 8 could have been enacted.”

I remember when one of my Youtube heroes, Machelli was saddened when PROP 8 passed, he created the video below:

CNN Commentator Roland Martin is slammed for Controversial Tweet About David Beckham Undies Ad

Posted by  on February 6, 2012 · Leave a Comment

Yes, Roland Martin;  any hatred shown towards anyone who may or may not be attracted to the same sex is homophobia.

GLAAD came out condemning CNN Contributor Roland Martin‘s tweet when he tweeted right after David Beckham’s sexy underwear ad had aired:

“If a dude at your Super Bowl party is hyped about David Beckham’s H&M underwear ad, smack the ish out of him!”

It was good that GLAAD came out and tweeted Roland to make sure that he is aware of what he had just done saying,
“@rolandsmartin Advocates of gay bashing have no place at @CNN #SuperBowl #LGBT.”

The group has mentioned that Roland Martin has a track record in making homophobic comments and is asking CNN to fire the commentator.

The commentator was defending his tweet saying that it had to do with soccer.  Hmmmm, really?

I was heartbroken when I found out Daniel Radcliffe has a mancrush on Ryan Gosling.

Posted by  on February 6, 2012 · Leave a Comment

Let’s get one thing straight first.  I started to have a crush on Daniel Radcliffe not through Harry Potter.   It was when he did the broadway play for Equus is when it all happened.  No, not because he was nude in most of the scenes… maybe a part of it but not all.  :)

I have followed him since and while reading my fave blog, Towleroad this morning – I found out that he’s on the cover of Attitude magazine which is a very popular gay magazine in the UK.  You can actually get the mag on your iPad through iTunes.

I’m not here to sell magazines but I just want to let my readers know that I was heartbroken when I found out Daniel Radcliffe has a mancrush on Ryan Gosling. When asked if he might gay, he responded with this:

“No. I can quite happily say someone is handsome, good-looking, and I can see why someone would want to f**k them, but I’ve never felt that way about a man myself. There is that moment in your late teens when you ask yourself the question, ‘Am I?’ but I wasn’t…Well, this year I have a talent crush on Ryan Gosling. I think he’s fantastic and…(ahem) you know he’d be nice afterwards. He seems smart. If I was gay, I would go for a smart man.”

Well, I was not totally heartbroken because he said he would go for a smart man.  I’m smart… I think. In that case, I still love him.  :)

Adam Lambert to be front man for legendary rock band QUEEN. Better Than I Know Myself (VIDEO)

Posted by  on February 3, 2012 · Leave a Comment

QUEEN has been one of my favorite bands of all time.   And it still is!

Adam Lambert loves QUEEN as much as anyone and has never failed short in expressing his admiration for Freddie Mercury (the rock band’s lead singer).

“After the EMAs, I heard faint little slithers of a backlash from people saying: ‘You can’t replace Freddie Mercury.’ But I already knew that,” he said. “There’s no intention in my mind of replacing Freddie. That’s impossible. The way I’m choosing to view it is that it’s a great honour and one I’m in no way going to shirk … Being asked to front Queen is the best thing that can possibly happen.”- MTV

Today, February 3rd is the release date of his music video for his song, “Better Than I Know Myself”.    There have been many offensive comments posted on the Yahoo website about Adam Lambert and his sexuality.  Many have threatened him and some wished he commit suicide while others say that they wish the “men would do to him what they did to Matthew Sheppard” (the gay teen who was beaten and left for dead in the dessert).

Chuva Hotness# 30 James Wolk in a new TV series and guest stars as a gay man? Love it!!! ABCs “Happy Endings”

Posted by  on January 31, 2012 · Leave a Comment

Yes.  He was chosen as one of Chuva’s pick for our Chuva Hotness series.  James Wolk got my attention during his stint on the now-cancelled show – Lonestar.   This time around, he will be a guest star as a gay man on ABC’s Happy Endings airing the day after Valentine’s Day.  I cannot wait!!  And if you’d like to see more stills from the series, go to TV Line.

We think he’s hot.  We think he’s hotter when he’s shirtless.  As a gay man?  I’m on fire!  LOL!

Happy Endings will air on WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 15 (9:31-10:00 p.m., ET) on ABC

Gay Men’s Chorus Washington, D.C. does Lady Gaga’s Born This Way

Posted by  on January 31, 2012 · Leave a Comment

This video may be late in coming because it’s way past Christmas. The video is Washington DC’s Gay Men’s Chorus Winter Party Concert. They were pretty good and probably, since the It Gets Better video created by Colton James Boettcher using Lady Gaga’s song, HAIR received a great accolade from Gaga herself and made the video viral, it may just do it for this video too.

I have to say that the Christmas songs were pretty good but singing Born This Way in a chorus didn’t do it for me. It’s probably the dancing boys in the front that distracted or attracted me. I am not sure yet…

Here it is anyway:

Piolo Pascual is such a hunk. And so is Carlos Agassi. Both shirtless? (PICS)

Posted by  on January 23, 2012 · Leave a Comment

No one can deny that Piolo Pascual is sexy.  Carlos Agassi is also sexy.  Both of them do take care of their physique well and I must admit, I have wished that the rumors about Piolo Pascual being gay would be true.   Carlos Agassi did admit that he had a sexual relationship with a gay man while in his teens which lasted for a year.

These photos have been around since last December and I just wonder how Piolo can pose shirtless with another guy knowing all the rumors about him swirling around.  Doesn’t that give more assumptions from the public’s point of view?

I remember a neighbor I had whose body was so perfect.   He would walk his dog around the neighborhood and he would be shirtless.  My female neighbor would always call me when he was walking his dog and scream, “Chuva!!  Look out your window!”.  What straight guy would do that?

I became very good friends with the guy and he’s really a nice guy.  I did have a thought in my mind that he could be gay and that his”brother” who lives with him was really not his brother.  I never had a chance to find out because they moved out.

If you think these photos are bad, take a look at the pic after the jump:

A Chippendales Dancer Reveals He’s Gay! Bravo!!

Posted by  on January 20, 2012 · 1 Comment

Jaymes Vaughn (far left) with Kelly Pickler on Ellen

How true it is! Sometimes, we follow the wind wherever it blew because we couldn’t have the bravery to show the world who we really are. Then, a turning point sometime in our lives come. That turning point seems to say, it’s time to show the world who I really am.

That is exactly what happens to a lot of us gay people who have hidden our true selves to be accepted.. But, like me – there came a time in my life when I realized that I could be a better person if I accept who I really am and show that world that nothing has changed in their eyes but my sexual preference. It happened recently to a Chippendales dancer named Jaymes Vaughan. He recently came out through an interview with QVegas magazine.

“I hope to be able to take advantage of a platform so that my fourteen-year-old self that was sitting in Chesterfield County, Virginia, might find some hope. The fourteen year old that had no one to look up to; whose mama told him he better not be gay; whose church told him he was going to hell; whose best friend killed himself because he didn’t “fit in.” Because he didn’t have any hope. I thought for so long you had to cover up who you were to be successful. I’ve realized you can be more successful by being yourself.”

Kudos Jaymes!! Well said!

Yup – We can turn things around… Bullied gay teen finds purpose

Posted by  on January 20, 2012 · Leave a Comment

Jamie Nabozny is probably person you’ve never heard of.  But, he is the one who had the very first successful lawsuit to require a public school district to protect students from anti-bullying and harrassment.

A film entitled “Bullied” was shown in Alabama back in 2010.  A film about his life and how he fought back against bullying.

He didn’t know at the time that the film will change the direction of his life.  He will spoke to a sold-out educational conference Hamline University in St. Paul yesterday speaking to” teachers, administrators, social workers and parents of gay, lesbian and transgender students”.

“I was no longer the kid from Wisconsin who got beat up. I was the kid from Wisconsin who got beat up, fought back and won, and made a difference for kids all across the country.”

I am totally apalled!! Homophobic Calendar by Christian Cartoonist on Sale at Amazon, Barnes & Noble

Posted by  on December 27, 2011 · Leave a Comment

This is why I am ashamed many times for being a Christian.  It is because of these so-called Christians that give the word Christian a bad name.

A “Christian” cartoonist named Joe King has launched a homophobic calendar which from the cover alone, I am already disgusted and would not want to know what is inside.  Call it humor, call  it fun.  It’s not funny.

The calendar with a cover page that says, “I’m not Gay, I’m just a Sissy” is enough to make my blood boil.  According to a commenter on Towleroad, the month of February says, “We’ve all got AIDS.”  Furthermore, what irritates me is that the calendar is being sold at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.  Seriously?

We should all complain to Amazon and Barnes & Noble to take this type of publication out of their inventory.

Go to this link to complain to Amazon.   And you may also call B&N to complain.

Here’s the number:  #1-800-THE-BOOK (1-800-843-2665).  Give them a call and ask for a supervisor.

I lost all my faith in love until last week…. and now THIS. (VIDEO)

Posted by  on December 20, 2011 · Leave a Comment

When you’ve lost all faith that true love exists, something comes up to let you know that it does.

After attending my very first gay wedding ceremony last week in Chicago, I felt a reason to reduce my doubts about true love. I lost all faith because of many reasons. Many reasons that I equated to people who are together not because of reasons of love but other things. Many things that happened to me in my personal life that I created a wall so that I won’t continue to fool myself that one day, I will find true love. To me, true love doesn’t exist.

But the wedding last weekend (which photos I still have to share after permission from the couple) hit a soft spot in my heart. People can really still fall in love with utmost sincerity. When they recited their vows, I was taken aback. They really meant it.

And now, after being bored at home (from surgery, I am forced to stay home for a week), I found this video on Towleroad, a blog I regularly read… and I realized – - it can still happen.

Stop the bullying! A teen, Jonah Mowry expressed how hard it is to be bullied. WATCH: Touching video below.

Posted by  on December 5, 2011 · 1 Comment

Bullying may start in school. Yes, as early as first grade! But bullying doesn’t stop there. It carries over to the workplace, online and it takes many other forms. From words of hate to acts of hate.

Many teens have succumbed to committing suicide because they cannot handle the pain bullying brings. The It Gets Better Project is a project that tries to make teens understand that life does get better. That later in life, things will change. It has done a great job and I support it.

But a video posted by Jonah Mowry has become the most powerful and most riveting video that touched me to the core. That those being bullied must put their foot down and know that there are millions of us behind them.

Watch the video below and see what I mean.  It’s a touching video with real emotions coming from the heart…. and better yet – - he has a message… make sure you watch till the end.

The video has already reached over a half a million views since it was posted.

Full Transcript of KC Concepcion’s Interview with Boy Abunda on The Buzz

Many have written to find out what exact words were said by KC Concepcion during her interview with Boy Abunda on The Buzz that have given impression to many viewers that she is implying something by not saying exactly the reasons why they broke up.

I didn’t think so but you can judge for yourself.  I do have a few key points that I highlighted in bold that may have given it away.

Here’s the transcript of the interview given by Boy Abunda  to KC Concepcion on The Buzz:

BOY: “Kristina, this is not going to be easy para sa iyo, para sa amin. But we have to start this conversation somewhere.

“What was it like? Take me back to October 21.”

KC: “Actually, simula nung 18 ako, tinray na niya akong ligawan.

“But then in the the last three years talaga, since bumalik ako from abroad, siya yung unang bumungad sa akin—siya at saka yung barkada niya yung una kong nakilala.

Now get this: Former Rugby Player Claims Stroke Turned Him Gay – throws a wrench on Nature vs Nurture theory.

Posted by  on November 10, 2011 · 1 Comment

I was reading this story this morning and I was a bit intrigued by the claim of Chris Birch, 26 – a British rugby player who broke his neck and suffered a stroke back in 2005.  He claims that after the stroke, he woke up (having had no attraction for men in the past and / or relationship) and found himself to not be attracted to women anymore.  Hmmmm.   Not only that, he actually lost weight, trimmed his hair and started dating men!

Here’s an excerpt of what he had to say about his experience:

“I had to learn to walk, eat, even speak again and all my family were supporting me, hoping they would see the old Chris come back soon enough,” he told the Mirror.

“My old friends would come round and visit me but the conversation would dry up straightaway. I wasn’t interested in the rugby scores, going down the pub to watch football or anything else I used to do.

DADT Repeal on Tuesday – September 20th. An important milestone. Faceless Soldier on Youtube may reveal himself. (VIDEO)

Posted by  on September 18, 2011 · Leave a Comment

Everyone is celebrating the repeal of DADT (Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell) policy that has prevented gays and lesbians to serve openly in the US military.

Tuesday, September 20th  marks the day that the policy will expires.  Now, gays an lesbians no longer have to hide in the shadows and can serve their country openly.  It is an important milestone for civil rights.   If no one asked for its repeal during this generation, I’m sure the next generation will.  I am just glad that I will get to witness it in mine.

Watch the film and let us know what and how you felt at the end. It must strike a chord somewhere. A film about bullying, gender and sexuality, age and all that jazz.

I agree, Sesame Street’s Bert and Ernie should not be forced to get married.

Posted by  on August 12, 2011 · Leave a Comment

With Twitter Trends showing Bert and Ernie trending worldwide, one must find out why – well, a blogger must find out why.

Digging around resulted in an online petition filed on Chang.org to allow best friends forever, Sesame Street’s Bert and Ernie to get married.

As David Kleeman from Huffington Post writes, there is no need since this is really not a subject that is affecting children at the moment.  This is not a request of a 5-year old boy asking why Bert and Ernie are not married if they live together.  This an adult “cry” to Sesame Street to force these characters to marry.

Like David pointed out, Sesame Street, its writers and producers have not come short in providing awareness to issues like HIV+ child in Africa, or respect for one another.  Remember?

Anyway, here’s the related video to the petition.  What do you think?

Michael Kors marrying longtime partner Lance LePere

Posted by  on August 7, 2011 · Leave a Comment

The New York Post reports that Project Runway judge, Michael Kors is going to marry his longtime partner Lance LePere in New York.

After New York’s legalization of Gay Marriage, many couldn’t wait to apply for that marriage license and the news was welcomed across the nation.  The article mentioned Michael Kors saying:

“Lance and I are very excited to finally be able to have the opportunity to marry in our home state after many years together,” Kors, 51, said in a statement. “We have no plans for a major party, but we will be getting married privately.”

Just as I’ve always said, my support for gay marriage is not personal to me since I don’t see myself getting married if ever.  My support for gay marriage is equal to my support for human rights.  We are all created equal and for those who choose to marry, kudos to them.

Congratulations Michael Kors and Lance LePere!

Gay ‘Archie’ Character Kevin Keller To Get His Own Monthly Comic Book. Yay!

Posted by  on July 20, 2011 · Leave a Comment

One of the blogs I read daily is Towleroad.  I find the blog interesting and it provides the best news and trends about being gay.  Hey, it’s one of Neil Patrick Harris‘ favorite blogs.

I like the posts about the “It Gets Better Project” and positive things that are ongoing for the gay community.  It also talks about the “crazies” who thinks all homosexuals should be sent to an island and isolated from the real population.

I usually re-blog posts that I find interesting and this is one of them.  (I re-blog most posts.. hehe!).

I found out today that the gay character introduced in the Archie Comic Book Series named Kevin Keller had such a great reception that he will be getting his own monthly comic book series.  How about that?

There are many positive things happening for the gay community and usually I read about them on Towleroad and it gives me great comfort.  I also learn about policy changes that could affect me personally from the blog.

Hey, if younger people read positive things about being gay, they wouldn’t be as fearful or ashamed to admit who they are.  It gives them the power to rise up to bullies and not do anything stupid.  I’m all for that.

Here’s an excerpt on the news about Kevin Keller:

The series, titled Kevin Keller, will follow a four-issue mini-series starring Kevin that began in July and has started filling out his background, including his relationship with his father, who serves in the military and is supportive of his son’s desire to follow in his footsteps. Like those for the other Archie characters, Kevin’s series will deal with his life in high school. “He’s going to be the class president,” said Dan Parent, the writer-artist who created Kevin. But it won’t all be a good time. “Even the most popular kids are not popular with everybody,” Mr. Parent said. “There’s some adversity he’ll have to deal with.”

Gay Pride and Pinoy Pride: FINC (Filipinos and Friends in Chicago)

We have always been proud being Filipinos.    Regardless of where you find Filipinos, you can be assured that they are proud of their heritage.  It’s a trait Filipinos have and will always have.

FINC (Filipinos and Friends in Chicago) celebrated Gay Pride Weekend in Chicago.  The effort placed on the float representing Filipinos and their friends obviously took a lot of hard work.   It takes months to prepare and design a float.  There’s a lot of unity and preparation required in order to organize and participate in a huge Pride Parade such as Chicago’s Gay Pride Festival.  Our representatives in Chicago did not disappoint.  The float was amazing and would have won if not for a small glitch.

Hate Crimes Law is very much needed in the Philippines. Let’s help stop hate crimes!

Posted by  on June 24, 2011 · Leave a Comment

I guess I was naive to think that hate crimes law have been implemented in every nation.  In the United States, civil rights movements fought for racial equality.  Remember racial segregation?  Rights of African-Americans in the south suffered civil rights violations up to the 1960s.

Previous hate crimes laws only covered discrimination based on race, color, religion or national origin.

Hate Crimes law aims to punish people who violate it. Persons violating the 1969 Federal Hate Crimes Law face a fine or imprisonment of up to one year, or both. If bodily injury results or if such acts of intimidation involve the use of firearms, explosives or fire, individuals can receive prison terms of up to 10 years, while crimes involving kidnapping, sexual assault, or murder can be punishable by life in prison or the death penalty

New York Senate Passes the Gay Marriage Bill becoming the largest state to legalize same-sex Marriage Bill

Posted by  on June 24, 2011 · Leave a Comment

With a remarkable 33-29 vote that include four Republicans who voted yes, New York State passed the Same-Sex Marriage bill making it the largest state to legalize same-sex marriage and becoming the sixth-state to allow gay marriage which includes Iowa, Connecticut, Vermont, District of Columbia, New Hampshire and Massachussetts.

It is indeed a victory for Gov. Cuomo who championed the cause and fulfilled a promise he made last year.

It is a victory for us as well.  It is a victory for me personally because it goes to show that we are moving towards equality.  It’s ironic now that it has been approved in the city where gay rights was born.

Woohoo!!

So True! Bullies must really feel this way about homosexuality. LOL!

LESBIAN, GAY, BISEXUAL, AND TRANSGENDER PRIDE MONTH, 2011 -Presidential Proclamation

THE WHITE HOUSE
Office of the Press Secretary
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
May 31, 2011

LESBIAN, GAY, BISEXUAL, AND TRANSGENDER PRIDE MONTH, 2011

BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

A PROCLAMATION

The story of America’s Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) community is the story of our fathers and sons, our mothers and daughters, and our friends and neighbors who continue the task of making our country a more perfect Union. It is a story about the struggle to realize the great American promise that all people can live with dignity and fairness under the law.  Each June, we commemorate the courageous individuals who have fought to achieve this promise for LGBT Americans, and we rededicate ourselves to the pursuit of equal rights for all, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity.

Since taking office, my Administration has made significant progress towards achieving equality for LGBT Americans.  Last December, I was proud to sign the repeal of the discriminatory “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy.  With this repeal, gay and lesbian Americans will be able to serve openly in our Armed Forces for the first time in our Nation’s history.  Our national security will be strengthened and the heroic contributions these Americans make to our military, and have made throughout our history, will be fully recognized.
