Glee’s Chris Colfer stars on “Struck by Lightning” (VIDEO)
Posted by chuvachienes on February 22, 2012 · Leave a Comment

Chris Colfer is not only the luckiest openly gay actor on television. He’s just lucky! Imagine being the apple of Blaine’s (Darren Criss) on Glee? That is just enough to be happy being Chris Colfer.
Now, he’s got an upcoming film debut on Struck by Lightning. (Full trailer below)
Chris stars as Carson Phillips, a driven (and as we come to learn, conniving) senior who wants nothing more than to attend his dream school (Northwestern University—Go Wildcats!) and become the editor of the New Yorker. But first he must impress the university admissions board, which school counselor (Angela Kinsey) advises can be done through editing a literary magazine. The only problem? Carson has no writers. So with the help of best friend Malerie (“Bridesmaids” scene-stealer Rebel Wilson), he goes about blackmailing the entire student body (including Sarah Hyland, Allie Grant, Ashley Rickards and Matt Prokop) into penning submissions.

Synopsis: After being struck and killed by lightning, a young man recounts the way he blackmailed his fellow classmates into contributing to his literary magazine.
Rabbit beats Army soldier thriller over the weekend. HOP makes $38.1 M on opening weekend.

I had a feeling about this but I ignored it. If you notice on the sidebar to your right, I post movie trailers and promote them for their opening weekend just because I think it is worth watching. So far, the past three films I’ve posted became the number one hit at the box office.
I was wrong this past weekend. I originally posted “HOP” on the sidebar but changed it to “Source Code“. I actually saw the movie and really thought Source Code was going to take the cake this weekend. I believe the only reason HOP took first place is because it was set to wider audience. It’s a family film – I guess.
Chuva Chienes @ the Movies: Love & Other Drugs and Tangled
Posted by chuvachienes on December 2, 2010 · Leave a Comment

Hmmmm. Where do I want to start? I want to start with how expensive it is to see a movie these days! Sheez! $11.50 plus taxes? Come on peeps!! Almost $50 for four people – yikes!
Anyway, we really went to the movies to see Tangled. The Disney film about Rapunzel (princess with the long golden hair). Yes, I loved it. It was magical as I expected. You should bring your kids to see it.
After the first movie, we snuck into the adjacent theater.. .(sshhhhh). We saw Love & Other Drugs. I must say, Anne Hathaway better get an Oscar nomination. She played her part really well and so did Jake Gyllenhaal. There were a lot of nudity (specially Anne Hathaway) and I didn’t mind it at all. Jake was in the buff more times than any past film he’s done and his body is amazing! The butt alone was enough for me to say – give him an Oscar!! LOL! Don’t go looking for a full frontal cause there isn’t any.
Hereafter Review and Full HD Movie Trailer Starring Matt Damon
Posted by chuvachienes on October 22, 2010 · Leave a Comment

One of the movies for me that is a must-see is Hereafter starring Matt Damon. When the weather starts to get cold and you know that Halloween is fast approaching, it’s nice to see movies that will either scare the shit out of you or at least get you thinking about the next life.
The new movie by Clint Eastwood entitled Hereafter is showing in theaters. I would suggest that if you are in the mood of seeing a movie tonight, watch Hereafter. It’s more of a soul-searching movie than a supernatural thriller movie.
If you get the chance to see the movie, see it. It received rave reviews and is posted on the internet so I believe it would be an awesome film to watch on a Friday night.
Rooney Mara will be Lisbeth Salander on ‘Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’

I have never heard of the book until a friend of mine (whom I can never picture would ever read a book other than Zoological or Botanical books – yes, including Human Anatomy) mentioned that he bought a book entitled “The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo”. Of course, he didn’t want to read it unless it is a certified book of interest.
He gave the book to his sister-in-law (who is a college professor) to read and to tell him whether the book is worth reading or not.

At the age of 20, he launched what is now the most powerful and globally known social networking site - Facebook. Mark Zuckerberg is a true genius – a success story.
Facebook now claims to have crossed a new milestone, gaining 500 million registered users. Not an easy feat for any of the other social networking sites to imitate.
For being 6 years old, Facebook is worth an approximate 37 billion dollars, making Mark Zuckerberg a billionaire. There is a film being made on how the social networking giant got started. The movie is entitled, “The Social Network” set to be released in October.
From the classrooms in Harvard to what it is today – the story gets very interesting (Justin Timberlake is in the movie)… read a synopsis on Helium.
This would be an interesting story to watch.
Mark Zuckerberg will also lend his voice on The Simpsons in an episode called “Loan-A Lisa”
The new season starts Sunday, September 26 on FOX.

I don’t know whether you’ve seen the original Clash of the Titans movie but I remember it vividly. The reason? I saw it with a “crush” who later turned out to be one of my very best friends.
I am unsure if you will have the same experience with the new Clash of the Titans but in one form or another – I hope you do. If not, I’m sure Sam Worthington will do that for you.

Kellan Lutz – A Nightmare on Elm Street – Video Trailer

The 1984 film, A Nightmare on Elm Street’s remake looks as good as the original. Coupled with Kellan Lutz’s star quality (he’s been quite as hot as Taylor Lautner and Robert Pattinson after Twilight)… the film is sure to be a hit.
In theaters on April 30th — until then, don’t fall asleep!
Mark Wahlberg hasn’t lost it yet. Shirtless and uh-uhm good.

The days of his Calvin Klein ads may be over but he hasn’t lost the hotness that he once had. In the film Date Nights, Mark Wahlberg (Marky Mark) appears on a scene shirtless and he looks good… you wouldn’t think that he is 39 years old with his body. Hmmm.

Ewan McGregor talks nudity and gay kisses – Out Magazine
Posted by chuvachienes on February 16, 2010 · Leave a Comment
Ewan McGregor has a new film is coming out entitled, I Love You Phillip Morris. Paired with the comedian, Jim Carrey whose worldwide film gross sales topped $4 billion dollars the magazine said – is not new to nudity or gay kisses. Several films that Ewan mentioned are Pillow Book and Velvet Goldmine where he appeared nude and kissed a guy as well. In Pillow Book, he made out with an old Japanese guy and in Velvet Goldmine, he made out with Jonathan Rhys Meyers where he actually enjoyed it.
I remember when I kissed Johnny,” says McGregor. “It was just a rush at the end of the day. It was just an electrical moment, because you look around and some of the British electrician guys — who are all mainly closeted homosexuals, I think — were sitting around going ‘Fuck, no.’ But I like kissing boys on screen. As a straight guy, it’s quite an interesting proposition. Anything on a film set that takes you by surprise like that, that gets your blood up, is good.”
The film, I Love You Phillip Morris did well at Sundance and is now ready to be shown in mainstream theaters. The film comes out on April 23rd.

It was no surprise that G.I. Joe: The Rise of the Cobra starring Channing Tatum took the box office lead this weekend as predicted by many earning $56.2 million dollars. Julie & Julia starring Merryl Streep and Amy Adams took second place earning $20.1 million. Funny People with Adam Sandler and Judd Apatow took third place with $7.9 million according to E-Online.com.
A lot of bad reviews tweeted about how bad Channing Tatum‘s acting was but that didn’t stop movie goers from making it number one this weekend. G.I. Joe is the 1980s hit toy icon.

I read from the paper this morning that there is a shortage of Bollywood actors that a new Bollywood acting school (more like a dancing school) opened up in London. It was the creation of the phenomenal movie dad (Anupam Kher ) from Bend it Like Beckham. It opens up the window for aspiring actors to be a part of the largest film industry in the world.
I heard that people come from as far as the United States and Pakistan to enroll at this newly-opened school. And if it becomes successful in London, a branch might open up in Los Angeles.
