Latest Gay Indie Film from the Philippines – “Parisukat”

The Philippines became well-known for producing Gay-Themed Indie Films when Lino Brocka released “Macho Dancer” in 1988 and it became an instant hit worldwide. Since then, the Philippines has produced numerous films that are gay-themed and released worldwide.

Now comes another film from the Philippines entitled, “Parisukat”. Starring Toffee Calma & Jeff Tatsuro, supported by Indie actors is one that would probably make rounds globally most especially here in Philadelphia where gay films are featured during the Philadelphia Gay & Lesbian Film Festival held during the summer. This year’s festival will take place in mid-July (tentatively scheduled for July 8th to the 19th 2010).

The Krista Ranillo and Manny Pacquiao Scandal is a Publicity Stunt?

I don’t think one could use such a scandal to promote an upcoming film. Better yet, if one does use this type of publicity – we hope that they all come out of it unscathed in the end. This is not your normal publicity stunt (which I doubt that it is), this affects a whole lot of people.

The question is: Does showbusiness care about anything else other than making a blockbuster film? To the industry, good or bad publicity – - is still publicity. The Manny Pacquiao – Krista Ranillo – Jinkee Pacquiao triangle could cost Manny a lot of money! There are already rumors flying that he gave P20 Million to Krista after his recent win. What’s the truth to that? Not sure.

With a reported $15M (P720,000,000) less taxes and expenses from his Dela Hoya win- – Manny could probably sit back for a while and not care about a movie hitting big at the box office. Or maybe he does. If you are a Manny Pacquiao fan, would you watch the movie with or without the Krista Ranillo Scandal?

Video Trailer: A Christmas Carol – Starring Jim Carrey

This is one of the best trailers I’ve seen so far. I have seen “A Christmas Carol” so many times in so many different versions. But this is where Ebenezer Scrooge is taken to the 21st century by Disney.

Starring Jim Carrey, the trailer is super amazing and I’m sure the kids today would be able to relate. Of course, nothing will replace the original but this is more in line with today’s technology.

Charles Dickens’ timeless tale of an old miser who must face Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Yet-to-Come, as they help to bring kindness to his otherwise cold heart. The Ghosts remind him of the man he used to be, the hard truth of what the world is today, and what will happen if he does not strive to be a better man. Set around Christmas, the most joyous day of the year, Scrooge realizes the sharp contrast of his own personality.

The images are superb, the sound effects are amazing.

According to actor-producer Richard Gutierrez, the film Patient X aims to give a modern twist to the aswang, a supernatural creature in Filipino folklore. During the grand press con of Patient X, he told the media, “We have a different take on it. This time, we tried to give it a modern and hindi namin binigyan ng typecast ang aswang. We made our own version.”

Fame Movie 2009 – Opens tonight

I was very young (wink wink) when the first Fame movie came out in 1980.  I loved it!   Music, dance and all that jazz.

Well, tonight the remake of the 1980s film FAME will be out in theaters.  I really don’t have plans tonight so I think I’ll be watching.  I’ll give you a review once I see it.  I hope it’s good enough that I won’t feel like I just took Ambien CR pills while watching..

Hello Marco Morales fans! I’m sure that you are awaiting the latest film by your sexy and uber hunky Marco Morales.   The film, PIPO (Ang Batang Pro) stars Starstruck’s Tyrone Perez as well.  Although I think Marco is cute,  Tyrone Perez is just cuter.

The only downside is – bakit another film about hustlers again?  Is that the only gay-theme we can think of when making indie films?  Dahil naging success ang Macho Dancer ni Lino Brocka hindi ibig sabihin eh lahat ng gay-themed film is about hustlers… that’s my opinion.

Kainitan ng Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival sa Cultural Center of the Philippines nang mai-premiere doon kamakailan ang Bayaw, isang kakaibang gay film na nagtatampok kina Paolo Rivero, Janvier Daily, at Andrew Miguel.

Ayon sa ilang nakapanood ng Bayaw, mukhang si Paolo ang nagdala ng pelikula. Halata raw na pinaghandaan ng aktor ang role niya rito bilang isang psychologically disturbed cop na nagkaroon ng homosexual involvement sa kanyang bayaw portrayed by Janvier.
