Travel reboot. First trip next year: LONDON and AMSTERDAM

The last time I went to London was on a spontaneous trip that was planned right after September 11, 2000. It was taking a chance and taking advantage of the cheap flights because no one wanted to fly at the time. I believe we got the whole package for a 4-day weekend in London for $499 per person with the hotel included. Two of my friends took that package, and we had a blast!

This time around, I will also be traveling with two friends. They are both classmates from college. We found a great deal to London for next year, so we decided to book our trip. In between our stay in London, we will head over to Amsterdam as well. I visited Amsterdam on a weekend when I traveled for business in 2009. It was quite an experience, but I do want to explore the city more than I had the chance last time.

If I have to make a list on what I would like to revisit in London, I will probably put it in this order.

  1. Tower of London
  2. Harrods
  3. Westminster Abbey
  4. St. Paul’s Cathedral
  5. Madame Tussauds London
  6. Kensington Palace
  7. The Royal Opera House
  8. Victoria and Albert Museum
  9. The British Museum
  10. River Thames

The attractions that are a “given” includes the Buckingham Palace, London Eye, Trafalgar Square, and Big Ben. Sites I’ve seen before but will probably have to re-visit for my friends’ first visit.

Here’s the new thing that we will be doing on this trip. We normally try to limit expenses while traveling. Of course, we will not compromise comfort because we should at least have a comfortable stay. During my trip to Italy and France last year, we opted to use AIRBNB to reserve our place in Venice and Paris. Both houses that we rented were amazing! In Venice, we stayed at this Victorian style apartment right next to the Canal, and in Paris, we stayed at an apartment within a few miles of the Eiffel Tower. Both places were very reasonable. With three people sharing an apartment this time, we should be able to find something that is not only located strategically to the places we want to visit but a place where we would be comfortable as well.

This trip is going to be my first next year. There are other plans that are not set in stone yet, but I am already sure that Brazil will be one of the places we will be visiting again.

In the meantime, I should get back to work as I need to earn that money for my trips next year! ūüôā

Until then – let the travel plans begin.
